There is this history in the old Dutch Indies of Batavia. During a cholera outbreak, the dutch realized that the chinese was not affected by it so they decide to investigate. They found that chinese only drink tea, and concluded that drinking tea was the key to avoid cholera. Then they started to put tea leaves into drinking water which is useless. Why? Because they did not boil the water first and only add tea leaves..

I actually started drinking hot boiling water because of my coworkers (Chinese, Korean, Cantonese, etc.). They saw me get cold water and said "No, No, No, hot water good for you and your stomach."
From then on that is all I drink at work, home and restaurants (I ask for a tea).
I actually noticed I was able to drink 2 Liters of water a day (because ot was hot) and also helped me not like sweets as much (hence, help me lose weight).

Here in Malaysia, we too love drinking hot or at the very least lukewarm water. I grew up in a Malay family, who strictly bans storing water in the fridge for consumption. Maybe we are influenced by the Chinese culture and thoughts in regards to health and body temperature.

Makes sense to drink warm/hot water to balance the body''s ying and yang, since your body isn''t ice cold. But I just hate drinking hot water, I find the more hot water I drink the thirstier I get. Nothing like a glass of ice cold water to quench thirst even in winter.

ever since i started drinking hot water my digestion problems definitely stopped. If i stop the hot water, i start to have problems again. Im also asian, so yeah it helps me.
