Fact: Gas tank doesn't explode. It rarely happens.
As you can see the first got out on the top where gas is being released.
The first thing to do is to close the valve (however they can't), so firemans took it out of the building to avoid others getting caught of fire. Once it's out as you can see they doesn't put it out, because they are letting the gas store in the tank exhaust.
If your tank caught a fire:
- turn of the valve
- turn off the electricity
- don't use mobile phone near. Get out of the range and call help.

Because it has a steady stream of leakage which prevents the pressure to build up inside? So I assume when it blows is when the pressure inside reaches maixum and the container cannot hold anymore.

They are NOT "trained to the same stardards". The national specialist police force does NOT have any firefighting units, they deal with counter terrorism and national security.
