Fun fact, they'll actually shave his head bald at basic training! They shave everyone's hair down to 1 mm when you get there. I remember everyone just sitting around silently rubbing our newly shaved heads, look at each other, then burst out laughing only to get yelled at soon after. Good times.

Every male should attend military its the only place that makes a man A MAN! keep that in mind. I would thank him for his service to his country! and await his return to be with you wont regret it!

I have a Korean friend who jokingly says he experiences recurring nightmares from the time he served and even though he’s saying this with a smile on his face you really can tell he’s not okay, but the stigma towards those who are mentally ill is high in countries like South Korea so they might feel hesitant to seek a therapist.

My husband is a Korean and migrated Australia. He joined the ROK marines back in 2000 and was deployed to a distputed territory island on theDMZ, then moved to Australia in 2005. Once settling in Australia he joined the Australian Army as an infantry soldier. Last year he returned to Korea as a soldier/ translator back to the DMZ on a peace keeping mission with the UN to dismantle guard posts the same area that the gun shots were fired. He said that he came across conscxts picking up unexploded granades with their bare hands and wrap them in masking tape. He was absolutely shocked at the risk of an explosion that could have killed them all. He said if that happened in Australia the bomb squad would of been called and everyone would of been evacuated. They are still uncovering human remains and returning them to families. He even went to the JSA and saw the very spot where Kim and trump shook hands.
