it's true.. it's s really hard to find a decent and good paying job..

Jim 007
No needed to worry, most of this 1% will either work in top level MNC or won't work either, they definitely won't work on a medicore job like majority, so we not need to worry

GG_ DD
Lmaooo sameee bfuhh if smart and intelligent people who are atrending to prestigious universities have hard times in getting a job, then how about me, an average and unproductive person.

Finding jobs has a lot to do with your persistence, connection, and your ability to sell yourself. Finding a job in tech is especially easy these days if you have prior experience programming using popular frxworks that companies need. There are plenty of ways to find jobs even for someone who is not academically excellent.

struggling artist

Florentina G
@King Charming we are all in search for this.... Some of us find it faster, others harder, it can last a lifetime ...

@GG_ DD One of my friend was rejected in Google and the interviewer said you are overqualified for this role so they can't hire her
The companies actually seems to reject people who are over qualified and thinks that they will not work hard like other average peeps.

Don't be, take it easy and everything will work out

I was able to find and enter a job that I'm passionate about that pays well. It's not really necessary to go to a famous school if you find what is important to you and have the passionate to pursue it. To be honest most of the people I've met from Tokyo U. are kind of like wheels in a cog in Japanese society. The problem with Japan is the whole business society is stagnant. Within their business culture stagnation, their economy will continue to decline in my opinion. I love Japan, but it's education and business culture is basically regressive.

I am an introverted dumbass and I can relate. My social anxiety makes it even worse.

Believe Inpeace
@J TG You can totally do it man. My advice is to find what you are passionate about and are happy doing. You don't need to place do much emphasis on money and just try to find balance as you move forward in your life journey.

To be honest, I don't think they'll struggle with the overall job market; they'll only struggle with getting the jobs they aim for, and since they got into Tokyo U, they are aiming for higher than the averages.

MGU
Shouldn’t it be the opposite tho? This means coming from a good university is not newrly as important as you might think

Bloodeagle
Find the jobs no one else wants to do. That is the best advice I can give.

You should study a major with future perspective like IT or Management... not Philosophy or literature...

"We're good at studying, but that doesn't mean we'll necessarily be good at our job." This is so true. Studying hard can help you but sometimes the concepts in the textbooks are different from experiences in the reality.

KRAKEN T
I'm so good at academic to the point where I fail in real life.

f u r r e t
Yeah, so why do they make us study such intricate and redundant contents, that we won’t actually be using when we start working

JoshuaK
That's why it's so important to get work experience in college. Summer break is the perfect chance to work as an intern for a company in a related field. It gives you a chance to see what knowledge is necessary to do certain jobs and gives you an idea of what you might be doing in the future. On top of that, it looks good on your resume when you're trying to get your first job because you already have some knowledge of the industry.

True..many inept politicians and bureaucrats in Japan went to Tokyo University. They university itself is great , but some of the graduates stop learning after graduating and don't impress me.

Jeez... studying 15 hours a day. I respect that dude’s commitment to getting into Tokyo university but I don’t think I could ever do that. I like a balance of study and social life. It helps keep me from being stressed

Everyone has their own choice. It’s great that you find a way to balance your work and your life. It’s a healthy lifestyle tho.

Harish Patil
@justice justice and what have you achieved in your life?

justice justice
@Harish Patil me? I studied hard and became a med student. I have 5 medical device patents and I am doing some SCI topic researches. Yes, it is true that having a balanced life is a good thing. However, life is not that easy. We live in a competitive society and in order to achieve something, we sometimes gotta go through the stress.

Not sure about this to be honest! I have a couple of Japanese friends at elite universities, it is indeed really hard to get it but once they are in most of them just chill. They definitely don’t study 15 hours a day, instead they go on a bunch of trips and have fun.

That's actually fairly normal here in East Asia, I am a Taiwanese and studied at least 12 hours a day the last year before university entrance exam, and though I studied so hard I still only managed to get into a mediocre university. I guess I am just not smart enough lol.
