I'm in Montego Bay Airport and everyone turns towards me as I'm walking to my gate.
Who do I see to my left?
Richard Branson.
I awkwardly went up to him (disturbing his walk with his mother to our plane to London) and said hello.
He says hello back but it's more like 'I get this everyday, I don't give a fuck.'
I intruded his space. I didn't take his attitude to heart.
Arriving in London I got off the plane first and guess who is to my left?

Kate Winslet.
It's only me and her walking ahead of everyone else.
This time I turn around a few times pretending to look for my family who were seated somewhere else on the plane.
I avoided her, kept on walking, collected my bags at baggage, looked at her one more time and left.
I love Titanic and nearly all the films I've seen her in but knew she wouldn't appreciate or love my intrusion.

I was traveling back to London , as a passenger, after working a freight train North. The line I was travelling on ran through the Chilterns, a well to do area, with a lot of stars having houses there. The station, was having a check on tickets at the barrier. A dozen or so people went through, and as I was at the back, I heard shouting and swearing . As I got near, I noticed a British actor(won’t name him) and his actress wife. He was fairly well known for being in a long running Tv series, and she was also in one. He was shouting at the ticket inspector, saying he has no rights to stop them, don’t you know who we are? He started trying to intimidate the inspector with some nasty things said to him. She then started. Again, both were saying what rights do you have to stop us as we are famous , and you will always have a shit job and life. Just as he said again about do you know who we are, the inspector calmly looked him in the face , and said, yes, I know who you are sir, you are a very poor actor, who hams his way through each episode, with wooden acting, and as for your wife, she should never have come out of stage school, This took the wind out of their sales, and the cheering by the other passengers made them squirm. On top of that, they were issued with a penalty fare notice.

I've met a few.
The most memorable though, I actually didn't meet in person, just talked to him over the telephone. I have told this story in another answer and it is a fairly long story, so I will just give the shorter version here.
Back in the mid to late 80's, I was an assistant manager/administrative assistant at a hotel, where we often had musical guests stay. One weekend, the Charlie Daniels Band was playing at a nearby club and was staying at the hotel.
Our front desk had asked for payment several times, but had been ignored. The band's bus rolled out on Sunday morning without anyone ever coming to pay the bill. My manager made me file a police report for defrauding an innkeeper (the technical legal term).
I had signed the police report since I was the one filing it. The local newspaper saw the police report and did a story on it. Then it hit the Nashville media.
Mr. Daniels was not amused. He called and said some pretty nasty things to me, insisting that I tell the media the police report was false. I was not going to lie, but told him that I would tell them it was resolved if he would just provide a credit card number to pay the bill. He refused and used some pretty bad language in doing so.
Eventually, I made my manager get on the phone with him and he got a credit card number, so everything was settled.
I want to add an honorable mention of a celebrity who was very nice, however. I was with my mother at a dinner show when we saw Vanilla Ice was there as well. My 70 year old mother was thrilled lol. She just had to go introduce herself after the show and ask for his autograph. Vanilla (Mr. Ice?) was there with his wife and children, but instead of being annoyed, he insisted she call him Rob, gave her an autograph and a photo, and spent at least 20 minutes talking to her. He was absolutely wonderful.
Heck, I didn't even know my mom knew who Vanilla Ice was lol. But I really think it thrilled him as much as it did her.

Mr. Ice?

I have had many encounters with celebrities as I live in Los Angeles. I have talked to celebrities without recognizing them, I have recognized them and had ordinary conversations with them about everyday life. A few ( Tone Loc Lionel Richie, Ben stiller, Taye Diggs to name a few,) have taken the initiative to speak to me first. And most frequently I have noticed them from a distance without bothering them.
All that said, the most interesting encounter was probably Ben Stiller. So I was at this tiny photo gallery for a show opening with my friend in West Hollywood. The thing about these shows is if you want to buy a piece of artwork, it will cost you thousands of dollars. But if you just want to go to the show they just want you to give them a donation of a dollar or two. I gave the lady of $5 bill once cuz it was all I had and she practically fell off of her chair. She was like ‘oh my God have another glass of wine’.
I'm at this photo show and it's a really tiny gallery and I've been around it 3 times. I've seen everything and I'm done. So I'm just standing there wondering what to do next. I look up and I see Ben Stiller. But in my mind I'm like ‘who is that? Do I know him from my job? Is that one of our customers? ‘
And then finally it hits me oh that's Ben Stiller. At the same time that I recognized him he looked up and he saw me. His eyes got big and he strutted across the room and put his hand out. I put my hand out and shook his hand and he said ‘it's really nice to see you here.’ I squinted my eyes at him while we were still shaking hands and he got visibly embarrassed and said ‘oh, don't we know each other?’ I tilted my head to the side a little bit and said’ I don't think so?’ He got even more visibly embarrassed and said ‘ I'm sorry I'm Ben.’ I said’ I'm Keary’
That was it. I wandered over to my friend and told him that I had just met Ben Stiller, and at that point it was getting kind of hot in the gallery so I decided to step outside. As I was stepping out the door Ellen DeGeneres was stepping in and we almost bumped into each other so we both said to each other ‘hey’ I went outside and she went in. After a few minutes I went back inside and stared at Sara Gilbert long enough to make her uncomfortable and I guess another half hour or so and we were out of there.

My grandparents lived at the beach in California. I met celebrities because some of them were our neighbors. My mother came to visit once and was irate when a famous western star tied his boat up to granddad’s jetty and walked across the highway to the nearby liquor store. He returned with a whole crew with dollies load with all types of liquor. As they paraded back down to his boat, my mother jumped up from her lounge chair and blocked the way. “Hey, I don’t want you doing that anymore!”
“Well,ma’m, I don’t believe this property belongs to you. When it does, we’ll talk about it.” He waved the crew on like he was moving on the cavalry. The western star lived a couple of homes away and would tie up to load up the boat before going on a trip. He and my grandparents had an agreement.
I met and knew some old time Hollywood actors. That was really fun. My parents and I were were living in Hollywood when my dad was teaching a class for pilots. We weren’t going to be there long , so my parents rented a place at a boarding house. A boarding house that had silent screen and 1930’s actors. I made friends with a few of them. Occasionally, I watch TMC and I see them in movies. My parents would ask them to babysit me when they would go out. It was years before my parents found out my babysitters would get me to put on my best dress and we would go out and hit Hollywood Boulevard. Things back then were different than today.
We didn’t live far from Hollywood Boulevard. The babysitter and his/her friends and I would walk to the Boulevard and stroll up and down it. The sights were something else. I’ll never forget a woman with tight, tight leopard print Capri pants, and a boa snake about 12 feet long around her neck. That was it. leopard print Capri pants and the snake. We’d stop and talk to their friends and I’d get introduced.
One night we stopped and talked with several of the little people who played in the Wizard of Oz. One, in particular, had a pretty prominent role. He explained to me about little people. His explanation has stayed with me.
When we needed a rest, the babysitter, no matter who it was, would take me to the same night club. We’d sit way in the back. I found out later they were passing me off as a child star until the owner got wise. By then, he liked me so he let me come in the kitchen. They would order dinner; I’d always get spaghetti. They would order drinks
When dinner was over we would go home. I’d be tired and drop into bed. I wouldn’t even hear my parents come in.
Years later, when I was in college, I went back to find the boarding house. It was still there. The people I knew were moved to the Motion Picture & Television Country House, a retirement center for them. The night club was a bar, and the owner long gone.

Leonid Rachman, lives in Los Angeles (1997-present)
I occasionally meet celebrities at my work. The work that I do attract mostly foreigners or immigrants. Therefore, celebrities whom I meet are overseas born.
This encounter happened in 2006. I received a phone call. A man on the other end asked to meet with me to discuss business. I said that I would be happy to meet with him. His reply was that it was not for him but for someone else and this someone else is a Hollywood celebrity. I was all ears. I asked, “Who?” He said the name that I did not recognized. In LA people like to throw names around without much reason. I said, “Fine and happy to help”. The man on the other side felt that I was not impressed. He wanted to make sure that I understand how important it is for his client. “You know this actor just finished the movie with DiCaprio. It called Blood Diamond“. I agreed to meet a couple days later.
After this conversation I went to the Net to see if I would recognize this actor. Of course I knew who he is. I just don’t not know his name - Djimon Hounsou! I really liked his performance in two earlier movies In America and Amistad. Two days later Djimon and his manager came to my work to discuss their business. All the women in the office already knew that Djimon Hounsou is coming to see Leo. While talking we were interrupted by every women in my department. Every five minutes one of them would come in to my office
and ask if I wanted coffee. We would politely decline. By the end the meeting Djimon probably though that either I am a horrible coffee drinker or all the women in my department really like me. Neither is true.
The actor was extremely polite and friendly. He let me talk without interruption. After our meeting I walked him to his car and ask about him and his immigration from Benin to France and then to US. He asked me about mine. We spent together about two hours. He acted as a true gentleman, asked a lot of questions and left very satisfied. We never met again but over the years I met his other family members who were just as nice and friendly as he was.

Mel Noonan, Author (2017-present)
Yes, I bumped into the bassist of my favorite band, Placebo at a Starbucks near the concert hall they were performing at in LA back in 2013. He had two cups of hot coffee and I had a vanilla bean frappe when I crashed into him. All three drinks spilled all over both of us. Nothing like burning and freezing liquid going all over you.
But I did not even care about me when I saw who I ran into. This was Stefan, this was the bassist of the band that meant so much to me. And here he was with whip cream, smeared over his shirt and his hair soaked with cofee.
I was mortified and started whispering apologies and offered to dryclean his clothes (I dont know what I was thinking either with that one) and you know what he just did? Smile, asked if I was okay, and offered to buy me another frappe. He got back in line, ordered his coffees and a venti vanilla bean frappe (I usually get only talls). He handed me the venti, hugged me, took his two coffees and told me he'll see me at the show that night.
I wonder how he knew I was there
I did not get a picture nor a autograph but I got a frappe and a hug. I should have taken a picture but it was so surreal and I know the band hates pictures so the interaction was nice.
I love this band so much I travelled to Europe just to see them four times and seen them in LA twice.

Jean de Gatteville, former Fighting Choregrapher (HEMA) (2016-2018)
Mika, 10 years ago. He somehow manages to be even more adorable than he looks.
Robert De Niro : Met him in 2015, he was playing poker, great guy with a somewhat short temper, never used it against me
Monica Cruz : Charming woman, as much physically as she is sweet of personality. Unbelievably discreet and almost shy despite of notoriety. I worked for her briefly as a butler, serving her food, coffee in 2012.
John Malkovich : In Deauville, it was quite many years ago when he was at the festival. The man is very open, he speaks an impressively good french and has a crazy but super tasteful Joker like humor that lays a lot on irony, bit of sarcasm / cynism and some dark humor
Michael Jackson : Met him twice, both times at Disney Land Orlando. I just couldn’t forget our first meeting. I was 8 and I was just coming back from Jurassic Park with my family. Everyone here who knows the Orlando parks around Celebration Road will remember Universal is actually not far. Back in that time my father was working for Marvel and that’s how he could get us tickets easier. So I had a lot of time in the research lab from Jurassic Park which is basically where I was left when I had to wait for my father to finish his work. Then I was actually taken to Epcot surroundings and Test tracks. And there was a bench with a strange hooded figure that I mistook for a statue, just sitting on there. What was so strange about it was most of his look was like a crash test dummy. And I just didn’t wanted to go sit there but my parents insisted. It started to feel like a trap when I sat next to the ‘dummy’ because for some reasons, some visitors started to gather in a kind of crowdy circle, people filming into my direction and it felt so wierd. So many people were giggling and just being totally crazy. So I sit there and my parents with all those people just stare at me, waiting for something. And then I feel like a hand on my shoulder and realize the dummy is alive, which scared me like hell. After some time my parents catch me and calm me down, I meet MJ who they told me was the guy in the dummy costume only he couldn’t take the mask off in front of everyone, which he confirmed himself. I often wonder how did my parents knew about his arrival or presence, and how did the people around knew even though he was masked… Nevertheless, I always was a super big fan and talking to him, spending some time with him, I was just like in a dream. It was around 1999–2000 and I still remember it like it was yesterday… I miss him like miss a family member.
