Asia is starting to get old, unfortunately. Africa's younger population is the new powerhouse so once India and China reach its peak population. The population of the African continent will continue to grow to 4.5 billion by 2100. Thanks to China, African countries are experiencing a population boom, urbanization and economies are growing faster than any other region. The top economies will be Nigeria and Egypt.

India doesn't have a president as a head of state, the president of India is a ceremonial position, more like the queen and has limited powers... India has a elected Prime Minister who is the actual head of state and is advised by a cabinet of senior elected members of parliament. Please don't take this the wrong way but honestly your vids frequently have significant errors of inclusion and exclusion here and there (pointed out in some of the comments under them), but the bigger problem is that they present an overly simplistic picture. It's like it's being targeted at high schoolers rather than working age (perhaps even college educated) adults. For instance, India's liberalization isn't as neat and clean as this video makes it sound - it's been a somewhat fitful but careful relaxation precisely because the country was able to see the disaster that rapid liberalization of certain African economies also aided by the IMF turned out to be. The country still has significant controls on capital even today. And that's just one example. There's nothing wrong with simplifying the story for brevity, but never make it sound as if it's a neat and tidy package wrapped in a little bow. A good explainer video SHOULD you leave you with doubts and questions, not a sense that you already understand it all from what is ultimately a fundamentally limited take. It SHOULD leave you with a sense that there is vastly more to the story than you just heard and a sea of complications and complexities that muddy the picture, as well as a variety of interpretations. You don't have to cover all of that, just be sure to leave people with a niggling sense that it's there. But the classroom style of this channel doesn't really promote that. It's like learning the schoolbook version of atomic structure and confidently continuing to imagine that's what atoms actually look like long after - they should let you know that it isn't actually anything like that, even if they don't actually teach you full-on atomic physics. You should never be left with the impression that the simplification is tantamount to the full story.

Luredreier I agree a huge portion of our economic output is extremely futile and wasted, and it would definitely be possible to massively reduce our consumption and increase economic equality and still bring billions of people out of poverty. That’s a slightly utopic dream of many environmentalists I believe. What I personally would like is for the GDP index to disappear from economic speech.. I know it’s a useful index, but it is so denatured by economists, politicians and normal people to be something that it is not. I feel that it often influence policies that are completely wasteful and incoherent with economic interest just to see it increase by a few percent.

@Michael You see creating economic powerhouses like India and China is not easy. There are many countries that were touted to be economic powerhouses, but are in shambles today. And they had a fairly educated population. e.g Pakistan in the 1980s, Venezuela,Brazil and SA until recently, Turkey until Erdogan, Iraq as long as Saddam Hussein was there, so you need to get your institutions right first. You are not going to become a powerhouse if every other day there is a coup to protect the oil rights of USA and Banana plantations of Europe. You need to have leaders of character, something most of African countries lack. And if you have a growing population but no stability, you become the new Middle east.
