The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah has released a short film titled, "The Bald Eagle That Would Not Quit". In January of 2015, a very, very, sick bald eagle arrived at the rescue center. Initially, wildlife rehabilitator, Martin Tyner, did not think the bird would survive. Over nearly two months, the bald eagle continued to fight and, against all odds, grew stronger and healthier.
This film features footage of examinations and feedings as the bald eagle recovers. During sessions with the bald eagle, Martin shares extensive information about wildlife rehabilitation and notes positive signs of recovery.

We live in NZ so we don't see these amazing eagles. What an incredibly awesome Bird! Thank you sharing and for being there for them when no-one else could be.

Pure awesomeness. A million thx and a hearty congrats for saving these gorgeous ?? birds. Is there a video to watch the release of this specific animal? I really wanted to see that triumphant moment. What happened? Was he able to take off into the skies? So many questions I still have. Thank you.

Dang I thought eagles were untouchable invulnerable apex predators that died of old age.

Just watching and listening to this made me so emotional! I absolutely love animals and if I ever have the extra money it will definitely go towards your foundation!!! I've never been to Utah but I'd love to visit and stay long enough to volunteer to help wherever I could! Martin you are an amazing man and I admire you and what you do! You are so amazing with all of these birds and so great handling them and helping them be able to return to nature! Are those budgies I hear in the background? Love those little guys, they're the best. Also, I certainly understand not wanting to film animals that are likely to die, but in a way it helps people understand the signs of a very, very sick animal. I own birds, so I could tell that they were in terrible shape, but I've also come across some instances where people think a bird was just tamed down when in reality they were very sick/confused and needed medical attention

This was the most insightful and magnificent of what in nature is truly sublime and you are part of that.
I had a heart breaking experience where I felt not only could I mess up my life but I had to mess up the Animal Kingdom too.
The brief version: A commotion and two baby "Scrub Jay's" in beautiful blue feathers are scrambling on the ground under the grapefruit tree. We get a towel and get them away from whatever was trying to get them.
We put them in a cage outside up high and mashed up some worms and water and and they opened wide and down it went. In the morning I would put them back in the tree.
Well I was up all night and as the sun came up I had two very hostile parents screaming for me to give back their babies and so I was talking, letting them know that I was doing just that.
I got them up there and I felt good~on to a busy day.
Got home it's dark out and next to my couch by the open window the squeaking of distress by the parents trying to get my attention.
Outside the babies are again scrambling. We get them put them back in the cage outside and I'm watching them again all night.
The parents are their again screaming at me
This time I put my surveillance camera on my roof and put a bunch of foliage for cover and put the two babies in the shelter and go inside and see that the exchange has been made, mother's head can be seen going into the space and then I can't see them. Exchange has been made so I crash out finally.
At around noon I get up and go outside and again I got two very upset parents screaming at me.
I'm talking to them " What's wrong??? I gave them back to you we made the exchange".
So I start to look and where I go they follow me everywhere as I look and my heart begins to sink as I can't find the babies and they think it's my fault. We searched and searched with the parents screaming and tracking my every move.
Tears in my eyes, what could I do. It's one thing to mess up my life but to mess up their world it tore me apart.
I learned as much as I could about them. Went out got a massive tree trunk carved it out into a large bird house attached to an I-beam and got tons of peanuts and bird feed.
They came everyday for a very long time and right up to my window and I learned how to mimick their call, they didn't make use of the bird home but did stand on top and fly over for their peanuts.
One day they were gone, but, it made me feel a little bit better for the time they shared with me, as we talked back and forth. I never found out what happened and I'll always feel awful for whatever happened, yet grateful for them letting us get so close to them after all that.

I happen to stumble across this channel and story and found myself so captivated by such an extraordinarily beautiful creature and a man who just seems like he was put on this earth to help towards their survival. What an amazing close up look at that .

Such a great way to start this video. Informing people that when wild animals are behaving like tame animals that means the animal is suffering illness seems lost on people... particularly the youtube creators.

That is want I have always wanted to do !! I worked for 8 years working for a Vet.that took care of dogs, cats, horses, pigs, snakes and skunks. We always called, wildlife to take care of wild life.Any way that is something I always to do.ThankYou so much for doing what You do.

A baby sparrow hawk fell into our window-well when I was a teenager. He couldnt fly yet so we got our gardening gloves and let him practice flying to our hands for food for a couple weeks until he was able to start flying around the house and catching flys on his own.
This was many years ago and in the future I would call a professional to take care of an animal that needs help but it was a very rewarding experience and an honor to help him finish his development. We released him back to the wild and we saw him around our property for a long time, interacting with other sparrow hawks in the area. (We lived at the edge of some mountains)
We were sad to see "Turbo" go but even more glad to see him thrive.

You are doing a fantastic job with taking care of these wild birds and getting them ready to go back into the wild, where they belong. I remember being out west and seeing all the eagles. They are an amazing bird. Here in my hometown of pinconning Michigan we are seeing more and more eagles and red tailed falcons. Just beautiful. Thanks for all that you do.

Cathy CLark
Apparently, this beautiful bird had a strong will to live, even tho his rescuer did not have a lot of hope .
Im so glad he survived but I wonder what happened to him to begin with that he got in such a condition . just look at him, he's eating . the more he eats the stronger he gets . he is a survivor .

Our national bird, and people saw no use for them, so they were killed? Once one has seen an eagle, bald or otherwise, flying overhead, their majesty is understood.

This gentlemen is a rare as these Eagles. He reminds me of Dr Finocchio who passed away one year ago this month and Dr Finocchio was the Director of the RIASPCA and he had the same soft spoken demeanor and manners as this gentlemen. Dr Finocchio's love for all animals was immense and the community loved him dearly for this. You can google Dr Finocchio and see him for yourself and the similarities between the two. God bless Martin Tyner and the work that he is doing. RIP Dr Finocchio as you are missed dearly by all !!

So beautiful, I had the gift where I live, & coming home on my upper road a Bald Eagle flew next to my just above the roof of my car. He kept up with me as I wasn't driving that fast. I could tell his wing span was wider than my car. He was so close, & beautiful, as I was driving he kept up with my car all I had to do was look out my window, & just watch him. I got to see his whole body his beautiful face, & head, & I felt so privileged to see this majestic bird so close. He was flying only 1 ft above my car, when I turned to go down the road he flew away, & kept flying north. I got to watch him flying next to my car for about 2 & 1/2 minutes. I'll never forget that moment as long as I live. It brought tears ?? to my eyes, b/c of his beauty, & I felt so lucky, as if he was a some kind of a spirit guide for me. ????????

With better facilities, you'd have a huge flight cage where you'd chase him, waving towels, and build up his flying stamina.
Not all places have these large, expensive facilities.

Such a strange contrast we have, where certain types of animals are killed by the millions for food, leather and fur, many pets are neglected, while other wild animals such as this eagle are being saved.
I think we could all respect life in any form a little more, and be more like this guy.
Then again, I do wonder why so many mice have to be killed to potentially save one eagle.

This is amazing. Great work. Thank you for saving these beautiful creatures. But my question is, why don't you breed your own rodents? Wouldn't it save a ton of money? Even if you trapped wild ones they wouldn't mind. Also, maybe give the tribes more of a heads up when you're about half way through the rehabilitation process and have them be on standby? And tell them they'll need to be ready within a day or two of getting the call that they're ready to be released. If it's too much, you could always organize a live stream of the release to still raise awareness.

I grew up on the in the Olympic Mountains of Washington State. Bald Eagles were a common sight. Now I live in Pittsburgh. I’m so pleased that within a mile of our weekend cottage we have a bald eagle nest and we occasionally see an eagle flying along the creek. I’ve always regarded eagles as majestic creatures. Perhaps it’s because the Native Americans in my childhood town of Sequim WA revered them, perhaps it’s because I watched them soaring above the valley where I grew up and just found them to be so graceful yet powerful. I’d never thought of them carrying prayers to God. But I’d like to think they can, I suppose I need to go find an eagle feather for this cancer I have at the ripe old age of 42. Thank you for this incredible documentary and for not showing us the 11 sickest days when you first brought him in. As both a pediatric nurse and a patient, I think that was a wise decision.

I watched this video because of the name - Enoch - . I had a severe macaw named Enoch. He was 11 years and 2 months old. He got cancer. I had to put him to heaven. This was 39 days ago. I am still crying. Every day I cry. I loved my Enoch. I am so happy to see what you do. It gives me hope and peace. One day when you get to heaven and meet Jesus, he will introduce you to every eagle you have nurtured and saved. And even the ones that didn't make it. They are all in heaven.

There should at least be zoo placement, to not euthanize if can't return to the wild, and the special education because of disabilities fails. An indoor aviary open to the public. amazing animals. i've never seen an eagle pellet, but i've seen an owl pellet. it looked like an egg-shaped dirt clod, but up close i could see mouse bones and fur. i thought they pooped out the pellets, but Mr Tyner just said they regurgitate the "pellets".

Thank you so much. I can't tell you how much of a difference you're making. You probably don't see the full of how you're impacting these babies but you have helped so much. If only I could tell you how much it means to me that you do this to save birds like this one. Though they can't all be saved, you try anyway. A lot of the time you succeed as well. So thank you again.

Is an eagle learning to like humans a serious concern? With increased socialization he may grow more tolerant of you but I doubt that would extend to all humans. Imprinting may a problem with hatchlings, but falconers capture young eagles to train as hunting partners. They eventually release them but many abandon their falconer early and must either be recaptured or replaced. Correct me if I'm wrong but taming a mature eagle doesn't seem like a concern.

That’s bull shot that a eagle had to be euthanized if it can’t be released why not allow it to stay in a shelter or a zoo or something if it has neurological issues that falls in us for our pollution into the environment we are the cause and should foot the bill and take care of the animals if that’s the case

$36 per day for food for 180 days, ($6,480) just to maybe have to euthanize a bird? Does anyone spend $36 per day to feed one child? Plus pay a person's hourly wage to feed them?
I'm a wildlife conservationist myself but $36 per day can be better spent for Wildlife Conservation. Lead poisoning is a hard recovery and the raptor will need more than 6 months to recover fully. $36 per day could be used to create non-lead ammo and to make sure people with hunting licenses only hunt with proper ammo. Maybe use the money to create a system registry that tracks whether or not a person who purchased tags also bought proper ammo to reap their harvest. Y'All pickin' up what I'm puttin' down?

Amazing work. Such are those who are truly blessed to be able to work with these beautiful animals and return them back to the wild to be free, the way God intended them to be. Your truly awesome Mr Martin Tyner, we really need more people like you on this earth. Your an absolute god send to those you save. Your such an inspiration and we could learn alot from you. I'm so happy the eagle made it through, fit, fighting and healthy. I hate seeing any animal suffer, but seeing him get better and be released is the ultimate happy ending.....

"This is not an animal 'we' don't want to socialize with. This is not an animal we want as a pet." This is pure sacrifice and husbandry. What an amazing thing to see. I'm tired of seeing humans say... We couldn't release him to the wild because they became dependant upon us.
Nope. They are all wrong. It takes a true expert to understand the species needs. You got a high from saving and rearing the animal with the lack of knowledge/experience or the selfishness inside you to raise the animal with the sole intention to release the animal. He didn't feed him store bought meat. He gave it meat the eagle would find in the wild. How the F am I gonna find jack rabbit or mouse meat? If y'all can't find it, don't raise a wild animal, turn it over to a professional.
I haven't even finished this video as I comment and I can see this man (and his wife "we") are prepared with proper living conditions and a mindset the goal is to raise and release to the wild an animal that will breed and continue the species. This guy is like Adam. The giver of animal names.
Much admiration and respect to this couple....

We have about 15 Bald Eagles in a 10 mile radius, and they are so precious when they fly over our home, i seen 2 beauties about 100 yards from my home nesting in some tall trees across our field...they are a beauty when they sit on my fence poles..Great job and Thank you for your effort in keeping our Freedom Bird safe

I firmly believe when we reach the pearly gates, we will be judged on how we treated his creatures on earth, you sir are going to get a real good seat and a thousand years of gratitude. Thank you so much for caring for our National Symbols.

Omg I never knew I wanted to hug a bald eagle so badly until I saw him pick up this absolute beauty so roughly... (I know he has to restrain its feet for his- the humans- safety) I just wanted to hold and hug that poor sweet baby

Thank you! You’re a hero. A may God intervene in the lives of people that would kill any wildlife just because they can, especially an eagle. I spend so much of my time trying to help every bird, rabbit , skunk, raccoon and so on safely back to the wild with all the help coming from out place here called Cedar run wildlife rescue. People that devote their lives to wildlife are truly special
