Twenty years ago, the United States came to Afghanistan because of the problem of extremist groups, paying countless costs and spending up to $2.3 trillion to try to solve the problem of extremist groups completely. But after that, Afghanistan was once again in the hands of extremist groups and it was all back to square one. This 20-year military and security operation has cost untold lives, livelihoods and money. More than 2,300 U.S. soldiers have been killed in action, more than 20,000 have been wounded, and more than 450 British and hundreds of others have lost their lives. More than 60,000 Afghans have lost their lives as members of the security forces, and almost twice that number of Afghan civilians have died.

Weddings.Averagely weddings cost about $30000, mostly because of a bunch of unnecessary bills like A big, long guest list, Food for your long guest list and fancy wedding invitations, Wedding favors naming just a few. some even hire bridesmaids, the cost and commitment required for weddings nowadays is just ridiculous.I think the wedding industry is so out of control these days, lots of brides feel like they need every little extra to make their big day complete. And couples wind up paying for a bunch of stuff that they don't care about—or even want—just because every wedding magazine (or blog!) makes silly things seem like must-haves.

I was a cocaine addict so my answer would be: “shoved £20k’s worth of cocaine up my nose in a year”The really tragic thing is that now aged 30, I still don’t own a house, I hate my job and have nothing to show for working for 10 years full time. I’ve paid off my debts but I have no savings. At the time I was driving around in a hybrid audi company car, shagging hookers and generally getting up to all kinds of mischief. God only knows how much I spend on coke until I quit but I probably could of bought a flat in London with that amount, with no mortgage.I’m currently looking at jobs at train stations as my mental health has deteriorated and I think I would be happier doing something with no responsibility.

A Kenyan university student received 80,000 KES from his peasant parents for college fees. He came up with a plan to engage in sport-betting with the intention to quadruple the amount. It was during the last European Premier League. He had this confidence that there was no way his team was going to lose. As fate would have it, his team lost therefore losing the bet. They young man unable to cope with the loss took his own life.

One of my distance relatives have a bad habit of spending a load crap of money on seriously unnecessary stuff. One time, in a very hot summer in Saudi Arabia they decide to sell one of thier lands they own to go for a trip to Europe. In a very shaky economy of 2015 in Saudi Arabia this considered to be one of the worst decision you can ever make as a reasonably wealthy family. Which i am certain if they are going to keep doing this they will be out of cash by the next 2 years. You'll be asking “how do you know what's their wealth status?” Because i work as a fix assest manager and their land was managed by me, which i was trying to convince them it would be the worst idea to waste such a great piece of land in a shaky economy.I was devastated to not have the ability to buy it.Moral of the story: Never sell a land for your own personal consumption
Please share you thoughs about this.

I’m 64, and of course, I’ve made my share of bad decisions. You will too given time. Be able to look at what you do, admit when you do the wrong thing, don’t make a habit of doing the wrong thing, and don’t let finances rule your life.Finances, at their best, allow us to do what’s important. Thinking that money is more important than everything else is the wrong road to follow.(To directly answer your question…my worst financial decision was listening to a stockbroker and buying shares in a company called Corvus. This was a long time ago. There is actually now another company by that name that I know nothing about. Anyway, the company went bankrupt a week after I bought the stock. I no longer listen to stockbrokers.)

The largest waste of money I have seen first hand is government grants every where from core of engineers to water and wastewater utilities to treatment plants. The engineers do over kill on the plans and specks they usually make a percentage of what the contract is so more the job cost the more they make . The government needs engineers to be overlooking overlooking the company engineers plans and speck books before they go out for bids . They could save the tax payers any where from 40 to 60 percent of what the jobs cost to keep them from over spending on these jobs .

Two of the worst financial decisions people make are (1) not saving for retirement (and other necessities) and, (2) once they start saving and open a brokerage account, they try to time the market when buying and selling and/or they buy stocks on tips.Saving for retirement is mandatory. If everyone saved and invested those savings, over their 40 years of work, a great majority of people would have enough money to live comfortably throughout their retirement years. But before saving for retirement, first you need to have money set aside for emergencies, such as times when you may not be employed.
If you have no or little savings, the first thing to do is start using discretionary income (What Is Discretionary Income?) to save for a “rainy day” fund. A good place to start is to have at least 60 days of savings. In most economies, 60 days is enough time to find new employment. When you are unemployed, you should be reducing your expenses to that 60 days of savings can be extended. After you start setting aside money for “rainy day” events, at least 10% of your gross income should be put into a retirement account. Next, open savings accounts at your bank that should be set up for specific future expenses such as the cost of owning and maintaining your car and your home. Each month, a predetermined portion of your income should automatically go into each of those accounts. If you are not able to save because you are spending all your income on necessities, take on a second job. Also, find ways to make yourself more valuable in the workforce so you increase your pay.If you live in an expensive area, move to a region of the country or an area in your state that has a lower cost of living relative to pay.
I live in the SF Bay Area where it is difficult for many people to save because the cost of living is high. There are people who complain that the high cost of housing is caused by inadequate housing. They are absolutely correct. It is something we are taught in Economics 101. But the lack of housing isn’t going to be fixed any time soon and complaining about it doesn’t help your finances.Nevertheless, those same people who complain about housing prices continue to live here. Rents can make up nearly 50% (sometimes more) of their their income. If it isn’t absolutely necessary to live here, then move. That goes for other cities where the cost of living is high.

Some people do not want to move because they like where they live and are willing to have a large share of their income go toward housing and there are others think they are entitled to live in high cost areas of the country. That’s fine. But they will probably not have any savings when they get to retirement age and will end up suffering because of it.And there are others who live here that, even if rents are only making up 25–35% of their income, they still aren’t saving. Likely most of them are spending too much money on luxury goods. I see people who spend a great deal of money on expensive vehicles through high cost leases or they buy them with long term loans. They also spend too much money on clothes, electronic equipment and other luxury items or they continually eat out buying expensive foods/alcohol or going on lavish vacations though they barely have enough income to afford that lifestyle. The second financial mistake is, once they have savings, they try to time markets or they buy stocks that are recommended by friends or from stock of the month newsletters.
On Wall Street, there are extremely bright people who, with their teams of other smart people, spend 100’s of hours a week researching companies to try to beat the market. Yet, studies show that 99% of these financially intelligent people DO NOT consistently beat the market over time. Throughout history, there have only been a handful of people who have been shrewd enough to do better than the S&P 500. The chances of you beating the market by buying and selling specific stocks over time is zero. You only need to match the S&P 500 to do very well over time. Historically, the stock market has averaged 8–10% (depending on the length of time you are invested and whether dividends are reinvested). Inflation has averaged just over 2%. Over the course of 30–40 years, you will do very well investing your savings only in the S&P 500.
To invest in the S&P is very easy. Open an account at a discount brokerage and invest in a low cost exchange traded fund (ETF) that mimics the S&P 500. Some financial institutions, like Charles Schwab and Vanguard offer the lowest cost funds. (Do your research because the fees financial institutions charge frequently change.)
Once you begin investing, dollar cost average (How to Use Dollar-Cost Averaging to Build Wealth Over Time) your savings into one of these ETF’s. Make sure you are consistently adding to your account and DO NOT try to time the market. Though some investors have done quite well in the short term getting in near the bottom and out at the top, NOBODY has ever been able to consistently time the market.

Just think, If that money is Spent on planting trees, Setting Water plants in the thirsty areas, and on Some Research on efficient Recycling, We would have better world with less poverty..The scientists working in these organisations have amazing brains, But they don't ever think in this way.

NASA、ISRO
