As someone who was born and raised in Beijing I must say, that dude in Hutong can't be considered as rude at all in our culture. That's him simply being friendly and comfortable to talk to someone he feels like he can banter with, to troll in a friendly way but not offensive. It's part of the bantering culture ;)

When you stood by your school and talked about how it all kickstarted your journey, it honestly sparked some sort of inspiration inside of me -that we should all courageously chase after what we love because we’ll never know where it leads if we never try. Amy, I also agree with you. I lived in China and my life changed forever. I met my fiancé and some friends for life. I had the time of my life and I miss travelling China.

I got you beat. When visiting Beijing in 2010, one day I walked 33,000 steps, including climbing up to the same viewpoint at Jingshan Park! The view you showed of the Forbidden City and the rest of the Beijing area is just as I remember it. BTW, my back was quite stiff and sore that evening. Hopefully you didn’t feel the aftereffects of such a long walk!

Also, I've heard conflicting reports of how safe it is for an American to come to China alone right now. What do you think? 21km would get you from the east most point of Singapore to the center, the distance from east to west is ard 50km or so.. from north point to south would be 27km..
so its impressive.. thats how "small" Singapore is compared to a city like Beijing..

It was tough finding Chinese language shows (especially with subtitles in Chinese AND English) that could help immerse me in the language as there was no Chinese community in my area. Having the Chinese and English subtitles on your videos really helps with learning, thanks- I subscribed and I’ll keep watching
