Enjoyed this! Might have to do this one myself in Shenzhen

Blondie in China
I recommend it!!! Different way to see a city

That will be awesome! I’ve been following you guys for three years. Jia you!

jacobrocks7
Hey Barrett. Hope your treatments are going well.

lawrence wei
I believe Beijing is much more sprawling than Shenzhen, so it might be less tiring.

This video is by far the most likable Amy's video for me. The amount of information in this video is incredibly significant - street views, those roads, different faces of Beijing, food, time recap, rude people, nice people, etc. Most of all, the sponsor's product is wonderful and it's really compelling to use that camera for this adventure.
I am so inspired by this video so I just told myself that if next year I am back in Shanghai, I will do exactly the same in Shanghai. Hope my work VISA will be authorized soon.

Eddy Tong
As someone who was born and raised in Beijing I must say, that dude in Hutong can't be considered as rude at all in our culture. That's him simply being friendly and comfortable to talk to someone he feels like he can banter with, to troll in a friendly way but not offensive. It's part of the bantering culture ;)

Kate Mc
I love how he shouted at you like his own family lol "Waaaat, breakfast? haven't you looked at the time?"

Thicc Thicc Thicc
That man was offended by the sheer concept of late morning

NetterDrachen
@Thicc Thicc Thicc actually he is not. He just try to show his hospitality by treating her like a friend, not like a stranger. I think this is unique for China, especially in East China.

@Thicc Thicc Thicc,

MarknJade
@NetterDrachen You are both right. The word "offended" is neutral here. It's not negative. It's like you're offended by him/her using the word "offended" in his/her comment and that's why you have to defend that guy by commenting here.

SpeedStriker
@NetterDrachen He was using the word "offended" hyperbolically for humorous purposes. Like if someone says, "I am offended you have the audacity to think that blue is a better colour than green, you absolute philistine!" It's not meant seriously.

Kong Kong
that's chinese culture for you. no concept of privacy and personal space. you get asked about all sort of things you would consider inappropriate in western cultures, but when you are immersed in it you'll feel the warmth and friendship like in no other culture.

Car-Accident-Bro
lol, actually he is kind, and he is the typical old school Beijinger, if they didn't like you, they won't talk to you.

Violet
as others have explained, there was no rudeness. This is a fundamental cultural difference that outsiders perceive and interpret inaccurately. He was actually quite friendly.

RespectOthers
Really appreciate the energy and time that went into making this fun video.
Awesome to see Miss. Chopstick Legs has now graduated to Miss. Iron Legs! :D

Blondie in China
Aww thank you!!!! Iron legs LOL! By the end of this video they felt more like jelly legs

-------------------4-------------------
Guillaume Couture-Lévesque
I really appreciate your willingness to just ask people questions. It's really excellent and I would be too scared to do it.

Violet
You shouldn't be scared to ask questions of other human beings. The only thing you lose is they don't respond. Eventually someone will. It will open up whole new worlds for you to express your curiosity. Try!

Holy shit, the blue sky and clear view, I can't believe that's what Beijing's air quality is like these days. I remember how bad it was in the early 2010s, the progress they've made is absolutely mind blowing.

MisterHat5000
I was there around 2004 and it was greyer skies than even Shanghai, where I was based for several years. I never knew Beijing had so many attractive locations.

sheep pseudonymous
Yes, it improved so much like a marvel.

Car-Accident-Bro
that's true, it's been improved a lot these years.

OMG This is such an AMAZING relaxing walk! There is modern and there is ancient along the way so much to explore despite it being a normal walk about the area. Totally jealous right now! I hope i can do something like this one day. I hope you can also do a video with your parents like this when they come meet you! :D I'm sure they will love this too. Thank-you for another lovely video and also and idea to pop on my list of things to do.

janw tuan
This is such a wholesome video ! Enjoyed every second of it and it makes me fall in love with China over and over again. When you stood by your school and talked about how it all kickstarted your journey, it honestly sparked some sort of inspiration inside of me -that we should all courageously chase after what we love because we’ll never know where it leads if we never try. (Very) hopeful that I’ll get to visit Beijing with my family one day. Meanwhile, thank you for posting such meaningful and fruitful content every week, allowing us to live vicariously through your experiences

Thank you so much for sharing this with us! As a guy who lived in Beijing for 20 years, I haven't been to Beijing for a long time. Tears in my eyes when watching this vlog because of a pang of nostalgia, you just can't be emotional when someone bring your memory back! Amy is absolutely my favourite youtuber!

Aesop's Fables
It's so bittersweet watching your vlogs while waiting for China to let students back in again, but.. I can't help but be thankful for you for sharing this to us helpless and China-starved people!! Really, thank you for the high quality vlogs showing off this beautiful country!

Lenore Kateryna
This would make a great tourism video for Beijing for those who haven't been there. Beijing is a massive city (compared to Australian cities).
Amy, I also agree with you. I lived in China and my life changed forever. I met my fiancé and some friends for life. I had the time of my life and I miss travelling China.
I live through your videos and can't wait to go back and travel (and speak better Chinese haha ).

Don Diego
It is just so iconic to watch you eat your way across town. Just love it. Thanks for the video. We were in Beijing in 2018, and I kicked myself for not going up to Jingshan Park.

Frida the Artist
This one is probably one of my favourite videos of yours!! I lived in Beijing for two years and watching your video made me realise how I actually missed Beijing thank you Amy you are amazing

Ken Goldman
I got you beat. When visiting Beijing in 2010, one day I walked 33,000 steps, including climbing up to the same viewpoint at Jingshan Park! The view you showed of the Forbidden City and the rest of the Beijing area is just as I remember it. BTW, my back was quite stiff and sore that evening. Hopefully you didn’t feel the aftereffects of such a long walk!

Nat B
When Blondie said she started at this uni 5 years ago, I thought that was such a long time, then I saw the year was 2017 and realised I started uni in China the year before… I’m still here and maybe go on a walking tour of my city!

Beijing is so fun for walking. You did a great job of capturing the experience. There are so many fun little snacks and buildings to check out along the way. It would be awesome to see another walking, or even cycling, video.

Adriana Gonzalez
I´m currently studying Mandarin and your videos really motivate me to keep doing it, hope one day I can visit China <3 love your vibes!!!

I visited Beijing in 2000 and it was really smoggy and polluted feeling. It doesn't look that way now. How does the pollution level feel to you? Also, I've heard conflicting reports of how safe it is for an American to come to China alone right now. What do you think? I have been studying Chinese and would like to return one day, maybe even soon. I've been to Taiwan 3 times to study, but not sure how to gauge the level of safety. Would you recommend it? Are you there with an organization or with some other kind of support? Loved your video. The city looks much more developed now than it did when I was there before.

RC Brascan
You did a fantastic fun walk through Beijing city, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience. You did a great job reporting what you saw and did and you spoke in Chinese at various stops which really impressed me. In the final leg of your walk when you stopped at Tsinghua University, the university you attended, it was rather like a defining moment for me because I have read a little about this prestigious university.

Heqiu Yisheng
Who can explain why I shed tears when watching this pleasant and joyful video? I m gonna call my mum to ask about weather in Beijing, my hometown where I grow up but not be able to go back more than 2 years.

Thank you for the 中文的 subtitles! I'm an early student of Mandarin, and I'm surprised how much I've been able to match up with what you're saying. I clicked for the tour of Beijing, but this has been a nice bonus!

Surprised by the taxi at the end. In a city the size of Beijing, I would expect public transit to be fantastic. Does it not get the job done?

Just Mike
I wish my city was safe enough to do this

rayson raypay
I ate donkey when I went to north-east China. Lol
It’s like chewier beef, and not gamey like goat

Hermit Crab
Amazing video! Hoping to get an opportunity to go to Beijing and visit some of the places featured in this video.

The Jingshan park that you passed through was where the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty hanged himself when the rebels conquered Beijing. If I'm not wrong, the tree on which the emperor hanged himself is still standing.

I'm so jealous. You in a beautiful part of the world. What's even more your Mandarin is so good. I'm studying Mandarin but it going slowly. I'm a broadcast engineer and I think your videos are of great quality. Respect from South Africa

you know why I hate your videos? CUZ IT MAKES ME WANT TO BE THERE SO MUCH AND I CANNOT GET THERE FROM USA NOW...... :)

Hanvour Ho
This is the best video about Beijing City I've ever encounter. It really makes me want to move to this beautiful city. Good job, thank you for this great city touring.

LB Ride
Never been to China, let alone Beijing. Once I pay her a visit, I know what to do. Thumb thumb up for this video.

21km would get you from the east most point of Singapore to the center, the distance from east to west is ard 50km or so.. from north point to south would be 27km..
so its impressive.. thats how "small" Singapore is compared to a city like Beijing..

Jose Serrano

OMG I love this type of video! Really got to see different sides of a city and those little snack shops along the way are so interesting!!! Thank you so much for making this video, it really motivates me to explore the city I currently live in. It's so true that often in time we just go from point A to B and completely miss all the small little special details in between.

Goldballs
Just found your channel. I wish I had this 10 years ago. I took a Chinese language class my senior year of high school (in USA), and your channel would have been so helpful if it existed then. It was tough finding Chinese language shows (especially with subtitles in Chinese AND English) that could help immerse me in the language as there was no Chinese community in my area. Having the Chinese and English subtitles on your videos really helps with learning, thanks- I subscribed and I’ll keep watching

mr friendly guy
Sounds like you had a great but tiring day. I love walking around a new city rather than taking public transport as I feel I can see and soak up the vibe of the city better this way.

All the places you visited are all beautiful plus the food looks delicious. your personality is literally so amazing. you give off a vibe where everyone would love to be your friend : )

Really interesting video. Reminds me of my time teaching in China for almost ten years. It certainly changes you.

I done crazy walk like that a few times in NYC, those times were a girl, I like ask me to walk along lol. What a dumb and young guy wouldn't do for a girl.

Alan Tran
China nowadays is more safer than all the western countries, period! When I see this video it reminds me about my state in 1985 clean, safe, beautiful and now? I really don't want to talk about it.....

An impressive journey and equally impressive appetite! I didn't walk 21km today, but I am hungry and ready to eat after watching your video!
