Asurei
Bad Travelling was hands down my favorite, i loved how intelligent and cunning Torrin was realizing his position amongst the crew and what he had to do saving the town.

Dude is a straight up hero

I saw it as him quickly seeing their failure to stand up and do what's right, after having several opportunities to. They failed out the gate drawing straws instead of working together, they failed again when they were about to offer the injured sailor as food, they failed at the vote when given the chance to come clean on their vote. After that it was just outwitting them and using their selfishness against them.

I love the ongoing theme of season 3. How greed and overconsumption destroys. In every episode apart from 2 (The Very Pulse of the Machine, The Night of the Mini Dead) it shows the dark side of selfishness.

Was easily my favorite besides jibaro. The crustacean reminded me of warhammer fantasy and the vampire coast that and its brutality

It goes back to how at least 4 actual good, brave crew members died while charging at the crab. The cowards stayed back until the crab went below deck, to save themselves

Except, (according to what happened at the end), he could've just warned his men (and women), go below deck, set fire to the ship, escape in the small boat with his crew. No need whatsoever for all the killing. Guess he was just having fun being a clever asshole...

The fact that Torrin ended up rowing to Phaedan island at the end, shows that they were never headed to that farther deserted island in the first place. So he killed the crew for no real reason other than to feed them to the creature, and buy time for saving his own life. That makes him more of an anti-hero, rather than a virtuous protagonist.

I don't know... at the end of the day he was a lier and a murderer. What intrigue me was actually the illusion of some sort of morality in his action and how we are moved to justify something for a sense of "greater good". Btw it was one of my favourite.

Bad traveling felt like a movie in less than half an hour. It is so good.

they should make a series cuz torrin is such an interesting character

The series is meant as a crock pot of ideas for creatives, but given their latest financial woes, its a good idea

manofsan
- that one with the special operator troops in the cave was the most Lovecraftian of all - it literally had a Cthulu type of creature at the end.

R Kramer
My take on Harper walking into the desert was that she took her eyes and ears to prevent the monster from controlling her. There certainly seemed to be a visual and auditory component to the mind control. So yes, she was driven mad, but did NOT release the creature.

But how did she got out of the cave
without her eyes?

I mean, it was Cthulhu. Why haven't I seen anyone mention Cthulhu?

Because it wasn't clearly mentioned. So to avoid to be biased, let's just call it mind flayer - as per its nature of attack.

Because Cthulhu resides in R'lyeh, an ancient city underneath the ocean. Pretty much as far removed from this desert setting as possible. A lovecraftian creature, yes, of course. Calling any odd space horror type creature Cthulhu though is cheapening both Cthulhu and the new creature.

‘any odd space creature’ my brother in Christ it is a giant bipedal winged monster with a humanoid build and tentacles for a mouth/octopus head. The only physical differences to Cthulhu would be the number of eyes and perhaps the shape of its head, so I’d say they are very similar. Especially when you consider that none of the other creatures mentioned/created by Lovecraft share as many of these features.

You left out the most chilling lines from the swarm. The first line of the episode on the transport ship was "we will miss your conversation", and at the end when afriel accepts the swarms challenge, the swarm says "good, we would have missed your conversation"

so the swarm is already owning being outside of the swarm hive. Real chilling.

Edze Jan de Haan
What puzzled me about the Swarm was that the researchers knew several of this incredibly ancient hive's slave species once were sentient, technologically advanced creatures. How does that not spell: "RUN AWAY YOU FOOLS!!!".
They both seemed completely oblivious to the potential danger.
The moment I heard them discuss this little fact I realised they were in deep shit...

Iloveanimeandmaybehentai
I really like how the swarm is not aggresive in the offense but more likely wants peace and stays in the defensive position. Only defending itself against attackers

Honestly, from a comedic standpoint, Night of the Mini Dead is one of my personal favorites. Sure, it's supposed to be dark in context, but when everybody sounds like Alvin & the Chipmunks amidst all the chaos, you can't help but have a laugh.

It’s a comedic tragedy. As the mini world succumbed not by accident, but by choice.

Zombies??! Not in our country! Proceeds to missile strike our own country lol...loved it

and then there's that small fart sound in the end. lol.

that was key to how irrelevant we are to the universe. just a grain of sand.

Unpopular opinion but personally I love mason’s rats the most. The scene where the spider bot fired a rat to death when it was thrown vertically to the air made Mason realize how horror is this death machine at killing. It’s very gruesome, but interesting why they decided to graphically show it because they wanna point the brutality of the machine. It’s what subsequently piqued Mason’s empathy. The episode has everything. Humor, meaning, shock, sadness, closed with a good ending by them making peace (even Mason discovered that his “enemy” actually produces a great wine that he probably never tasted anywhere else before! Showing hostility isn’t always the best route)

That was a very FORGIVING rat. I was surprised he didn’t lace the old man’s drink with poison or something

It fits perfectly with the previous episode where pride overcame Afiel(is this his name) while Mason overcame his pride.
One gave in to destructive impulses the other didn't succumbed to it.
This shows that humanity has potential to coexist with the world, because it's diversity in life should be embraced and not destroyed like how many humans have done it in the past and still are doing it. We can change and Mason is prove of this.

Jibaro blew me away. Not a word of dialogue, just raw emotion conveyed through imagery and sound. Outstanding

Adding to this analysis. He wanted money, she wanted love. Both of them trying to gain one from another would hurt each other. When she kissed him, he bled. When he touched her, he took off some gems and she bled. I found that so interesting.

I think she's a metaphor for our beautiful home, Gaia. She's on defense in the beginning, tired of being exploited for wealth. She just wants to love and care for us, and we're only concerned with how she can profit us. That's just my reading, though.

Jaunelle Ellis
I saw the siren in Jibaro as more a representation of the land rather than the people. Scores of people died trying to get to her and that is where her danger lies. When the main soldier doesn't get lured to his death, she is curious and affectionate. In his greed and annoyance, he strips her of everything he finds valuable and leaves.
In the end, the land remains, you can't kill it no matter what you take from it, but it suffers.

This interpretation (i think) is further supported because of how in the sirens territory you see that there are little colored circles around the foliage and trees. Once she dies the magic circles around the forest disappear then reappear when she is revived.

I think the whole pillaging thing is kind of overlooking the main point of the piece. Don't get me wrong, they are definitely greedy misguided pillagers but she is also a murderous monster thats killed hundreds, we don't actually know why they are there and the artist deliberately kept stuff ambiguous in regards to location and culture. The jewelry on the siren was based on different jewelry from multiple cultures around the world and shes based on a greek myth. The soldiers definitely had a strong conquistador theme but also had a lot of Germanic and Celtic design thrown in too.

The real point of the piece is about toxic relationships. They both end up obsessed with each other but for completely shallow self serving reasons and it leads to the destruction of them both.
Nature and land is used to make a point in the piece but not about literal land and nature, he just used land and nature to contrast the horrific toxic relationship, theres all this vanity and greed, brutal imagery that represents the horrific potential of some relationships. But its contrasted by beautiful shots of nature and the scenery, representing the beauty in whats real and often overlooked. And honestly on my first couple of watches I overlooked it too

Its a really really clever piece.

Hundreds of thousands of dead bodies are already there. She represent a land or a nation what was damaged badly but still no one could conquer or keep, bcuz the conquerors took what they wanted than left. Makes more sense than toxic relationship. But I know some people really obsessed seeing that topic in every piece of art. Like here you can see a leaf falling down and rot away.. Its about change, death, circle of life. Than some people will go "its about toxic realtionships".
As an artist I follow many many pages and in every topic I see someone who forcing the toxic theory.

No it really is about toxic relationships, the creator himself said so. I'm really not forcing the theory.
They use pillagers and colonizers to represent the worst kind of male partner and a siren to represent the worst kind of female.
Alberto describes it as a 'meeting of two predators' and said he 'wanted to write a story with no heroes'. He also said in multiple interviews its a story about 'the most toxic relationship imagianable'

I respect that you are an artist and follow art, but I follow Albertos work and i'm super passionate about it. His works nearly always have a strong theme of relationships and a lot of the themes in this are the same as the themes in his other works.
I promise you, this is about relationships and the whole colonizer angle just represents one of the negative parties.

I think the kissing part further proves that. Like even if the guy was genuine, she still harmed him. Turns out both were toxic and they got the bad endings.

The siren is Suvannamaccha from Thai folklore, which is why everything is so tropical. This ties in nicely with the story of colonialism, because Thailand was never colonized, but still experienced the bloodshed from colonizers.
