I’ve lived in all three and would happily live in any one of them again. Like anywhere, all of them have their good points and bad points.
Sweden was the culturally closest to my home in south-east England. Yes, even closer than Ireland, despite the language. People were lovely once you get to know them but making friends in the first place could be hard work. The sense of humour and a lot of cultural references were the same too. I absolutely loved the outdoors lifestyle, with swimming in the rivers and lakes, kayaking around the archipelago, skiing in the mountains etc. On the downside, people were more conformist than I’m used to, long dark winters, expensive alcohol and the quality of fruit and vegetables was awful. More seriously, my mixed-race friend who married a Swede and moved to a Swedish town with her children has faced a lot of racism and so much bureaucracy she regrets moving there.
Germany has a fantastic quality of life. Rent and food were cheap and wages high. I could cycle everywhere safely and public transport was mostly excellent (buses turning up and leaving early was a pet hate though.) The weather suited me perfectly, with proper snowy winters and hot, sunny summers but neither being too extreme. The beer and and the whole biergarten culture was amazing. So was having such easy access to the rest of mainland Europe. What started grating on me after a while was that people are so serious. There seems to be this cultural thing where humour is inappropriate in more situations than I’m used to, e.g. at work. Very rule-based society and I didn’t know all the rules - from not crossing the road even when it’s safe to do so unless you’ve got the green light.
Ireland felt very familiar at first. Same language, shops (for the most part), pub culture and humour, but more talkative than I’m used to, which I liked. Beautiful countryside too, even just a few minutes outside Dublin. Good music scene and generally plenty to do. Unfortunately I was there at a bad time, when people were losing their jobs and businesses closing down left, right and centre so the atmosphere was downbeat and a little defensive. My English accent provoked some negative reactions and that sometimes made me feel like an outsider. I’ve been back to visit quite a few times since because I’ve got friends there, and I think Ireland has changed a lot since those days, even though it was only about 10 years ago. It feels a more optimistic place now. I’d happily give living there another try if I decided I needed a change.

I am an American who has lived in each of these three countries. Here are my impressions:
Sweden
General social philosophy: Live quietly so as not to disturb others.
I found Sweden to be a very live-and-let-live type of society. The up side is that you can find your tribe and enjoy yourselves together. The down side is that the shared value of ignoring people (you don’t know) in order to ensure the other’s personal freedom makes for a restrained, reserved, repressed society. I found that some people lacked social skills, lacked ability to express true emotion, and had some tendency towards melancholy. There’s something essentially human about acknowledging the variety of people you may meet on the street, learning something about their perspective, having the opportunity to feel engaged and uplifted by them, and having a general feeling that we’re all in this together. This element to one’s feeling of wellbeing I found to be lacking, though can be alleviated through finding your own community.
The economy is doing great, but finding a job can still take quite a bit of time and effort. It is very difficult for an employer to fire an employee, so care is taken at the outset to ensure a good placement. Housing tends to be quite affordable and at a *very high standard.* A Swedish apartment is a thing that dreams are made of. Rentals can be hard to find in popular areas. Foods that are considered staples like potatoes, onions, coffee, cheese, fish, are quite affordable. However, going out to a restaurant is expensive and not really all that popular except in large cities. I missed a good cafe / restaurant / pub culture while I was there. The natural environment is right out of a storybook. The freedom to hike wherever you wish (allemansrätt) is simply unbelievable. I find the Swedish, self-deprecating sense of humor to be so clever and entertaining.

Germany
General social philosophy: Be sure to check what you’re supposed to be doing and how you’re supposed to be feeling in every situation.
In Germany, I got the feeling that for everything there was a “right” way. Often times this made for a very comprehensive and understandable way for doing things. It can be nice to know what to expect. Also, I tended to admire what the society defined as “right”. I don’t think I’ve lived anywhere where I felt more aware of and engaged with the major issues facing the world. However, when you find yourself on the outside, either disagreeing with the consensus or having found an exception to the rule, it can be uncomfortable. I also discovered there the concept of communal guilt. I think the society took on guilt-at-large post WWII, and applies it to other situations as well. As an American there in 2003–2004, I personally was to be lectured (repeatedly) on the Iraq invasion despite that I was against the war. I generally found the vast array of societal obligation, guilt as a product of my nationality, and the formality to be exhausting. Perhaps if I were to return as an older, more confident person, I wouldn’t be as bothered by this. Right now, I like just visiting, since a tourist who knows the language is widely appreciated.
Also a strong economy with attractive jobs. Apartment rentals are more plentiful and tend to not be too expensive. There seemed to be a larger variety of foods available and at very good prices. Cafe culture is wonderful. I have so many good memories sitting at a cozy table with a delicious cappuccino. Anything you have to do is well documented and works according to the rules. If you take the time to learn the system, you can navigate your way through anything. The abundance of paved cycling trails was sensational for me. When out hiking, the wilderness, though beautiful, sometimes didn’t feel “wild” enough. I loved the acclaim for literature and culture: bookstores galore, beautiful pens and papers, local orchestras, well-attended exhibits.

Ireland
General social philosophy: None of us are very special or exceptional, so we may as well just enjoy ourselves and not take things too seriously.
This is a fun way to live. The problem is that they aren’t actually telling themselves the truth. The Irish have a lot to say regarding Brexit, and are finding themselves on the world’s stage more and more often. I love reading the plentiful Irish editorials deriding Dubliners as pompous and overreaching, and celebrating the contented, mirthful, and “true” Irish life in the countryside. Again, I’ll just say that I’m not sure this is so “true” anymore. In general, I find living in Ireland an excellent cure for stress and anxiety. I love the small, daily interactions with people full of fun, humor and kindness. The basic attitude is that “it’ll be fine.” For the most part, it is good to not sweat the small stuff. The problem arises when you truly need to fix an issue and advocate for yourself. The relaxed environment also means that regulations are often not followed as written, and it’s hard for an outsider to decipher when to follow the rules and when following them will put you at a disadvantage.
A very strong job market in the cities, especially Dublin. Housing in Dublin can be extremely tricky. Rents tend to be much more expensive than buying. With a culture strongly lixed to farming, it’s easy to find fresh, local and delicious staples. Dublin is trying to offer diverse culinary options, but for the most part, I don’t find it to be all that worth it. Pub culture is wonderful, though - teeming with history, authenticity, music and good craic. I have a particular fondness of driving on the small, squiggly roads in the countryside. Breathtaking scenery. It’s easy to find the connection to Ireland’s past even with its recent history of unprecedented growth. People are exceptionally friendly and polite. Even Dublin can feel just like a small town. I love that a witty and poetic writing style is still ok here. Articles are often tongue-in-cheek and with sweeping vocabulary. I’m so tired of the dumbed-down writing style that came along with recent trends in web design, etc.
So in regards to which place I’d rather live, I’ll totally dodge the question. Sweden is a great place to raise a kid, write a book. Germany is a great place to enjoy culture, learn about the world. Ireland is a great place to build a career and enjoy a sense of community.

General social philosophy: None of us are very special or exceptional, so we may as well just enjoy ourselves and not take things too seriously.
This is a fun way to live. The problem is that they aren’t actually telling themselves the truth. The Irish have a lot to say regarding Brexit, and are finding themselves on the world’s stage more and more often. I love reading the plentiful Irish editorials deriding Dubliners as pompous and overreaching, and celebrating the contented, mirthful, and “true” Irish life in the countryside. Again, I’ll just say that I’m not sure this is so “true” anymore. In general, I find living in Ireland an excellent cure for stress and anxiety. I love the small, daily interactions with people full of fun, humor and kindness. The basic attitude is that “it’ll be fine.” For the most part, it is good to not sweat the small stuff. The problem arises when you truly need to fix an issue and advocate for yourself. The relaxed environment also means that regulations are often not followed as written, and it’s hard for an outsider to decipher when to follow the rules and when following them will put you at a disadvantage.
A very strong job market in the cities, especially Dublin. Housing in Dublin can be extremely tricky. Rents tend to be much more expensive than buying. With a culture strongly lixed to farming, it’s easy to find fresh, local and delicious staples. Dublin is trying to offer diverse culinary options, but for the most part, I don’t find it to be all that worth it. Pub culture is wonderful, though - teeming with history, authenticity, music and good craic. I have a particular fondness of driving on the small, squiggly roads in the countryside. Breathtaking scenery. It’s easy to find the connection to Ireland’s past even with its recent history of unprecedented growth. People are exceptionally friendly and polite. Even Dublin can feel just like a small town. I love that a witty and poetic writing style is still ok here. Articles are often tongue-in-cheek and with sweeping vocabulary. I’m so tired of the dumbed-down writing style that came along with recent trends in web design, etc.
So in regards to which place I’d rather live, I’ll totally dodge the question. Sweden is a great place to raise a kid, write a book. Germany is a great place to enjoy culture, learn about the world. Ireland is a great place to build a career and enjoy a sense of community.

Sweden
As said ,Scandinavia is heaven for people who love government benefits such as free schooling and long parental leaves.The country has strong economy but that doesn't mean that jobs are plenty here.Some sectors like finance and agriculture have limited job opportunities and could be hard to find though one who is talented shouldn't face any problem.
As for society,it is closed and people speak English quite well and don't get angry for not speaking swedish.Country is beautiful and scenic,making new freinds could be hard as relations are limited and people form very small groups.
Germany
The country works more like a big corporation rather than a country.It's the biggest economy in Europe and will remain so for next decade or so. Jobs are plenty for engineering and berlin is a hub for entrepreneurship.But people are cold and generally not friendly.Racist incidents happens quite frequently (recently Hanau incident)so if you're not white it could be a different experience for you. Some say bureaucracy is not likable.Not speaking German could mean less opportunities. Education is free for most part and government benefits are good.
Ireland
Ahh!the Irish hospitality and friendliness is world renowned. Probably the most friendliest Europeans if you're not white.Economy is small but booming at a great growth speed.Since Brexit,London has been losing its position and Dublin is coming out as a great English speaking financial hub. Jobs are plenty and tech and finance sectors are big.Generally quite welcoming.English do make a difference.Government benefits are lesser than other countries.Country is beautiful.
If you ask me, a guy who is going to be in his 20s,looking to make a career and want to be included in the society and don't face racism and get opportunities(Not being white)then I would choose IRELAND.

Sweden is ideal if you are a harmony seeking person who enjoys nature, winter, and wilderness, and likes it quiet and elegant. I live there, and I would describe myself that way. I live in an idyll. Some may find it too quiet. Living in Sweden is like living in a children’s book. Perfect also if you have children.
Germany is ideal if you like it more bubbly, are outgoing, don’t mind taking sides, and generally are more into urban life. And that urban life would be comfortable, with lots of manifestations of modern life. Work will be interesting, opportunities will be everywhere, and it will generally be quite exciting. Germany is a buzz.
Ireland will be perfect if your value set is on the American/ anglophone side of things. Ireland is incredibly fun, and rings a lot of bells with anyone who grew up speaking English. It is also less grim than Great Britain, but still does have its share of crooked edges. I don’t think it’s possible to get depressed in Ireland.

I have lived outside Norway for a few years, but not in any of the countries mentioned. I have visited them all two times at most each, so my reply here is totally oblivious of the deeper things at work in these three countries. I am merely speaking from my experiences as a tourist.
Germany. They like to keep things organized and the infrastructure seems to be quite good in general. Healthy amounts of public transport means that I might not need to buy a car. I also like their way of life and their food. I am unfortunately in the position that I don’t speak German, so I would have a hard time fitting in with the rest. I can read a little German, and if I couple that with copious amounts of guesswork I might be able to tease out the general gist of signs and such, but answering a German speaking person is a no-go. And I would not move to a new country for a permanent stay and not speak the language.
Ireland - Joy and sadness go hand-in-hand. I have been to Ireland twice. I spent some time in Portlaoise, Galway and Dublin. I really love the people there. I had a room above a pub in Galway. When I arrived to pick up my key, the bartender had a pleasant little conversation with me. I went upstairs, left my luggage and popped down again to buy myself my first pint of Guiness on Irish soil. Now, as a Norwegian I like to kind of slix back into a shadowy part of the pub and just observe life at it happens. But I first had to take a few sips of my pint before doing that. The guy next to me started talking with me, and the first thing he said was: “So you’re a tourist? Well, you are in Ireland now. And there are two things that you need to know. First off: don’t even consider hiding youself in the darker parts of the pub. Secondly: you’re drinking your Guiness too slow!”. So I ended up talking with this guy for half an hour or so, asking questions about Ireland, differences between Galway and Dublin, a bit of history and so forth. When I visited Portlaoise I was shown around the countryside. I really liked that scenery and those narrow roads. It reminded me of home. As you might guess, I am able to communicate a little in English, so in that manner, Ireland would be a good place for me to move. I would perhaps not want to move to Dublin (due to the amount of social issues I saw there) but anywhere else would be great.
Sweden. I like the place and would probably be able to communicate rather easily with them. It would be comfortably close to home if ever got homesick. I have nothing against Sweden, but I also don’t see what possible things (apart from the welfare state) that could make me choose Sweden over the two other alternatives.

我在挪威以外的地方住过几年，但不是在上面提到的任何一个国家。我最多访问过这三个国家两次，所以我在这里的回答完全忽略了这三个国家更深层次的事情。我只是根据我作为一个游客的经验说的。
德国。他们喜欢让事情变得井然有序，基础设施总体上看起来相当不错。完善的公共交通意味着我可能不需要买车。我也喜欢他们的生活方式和食物。不幸的是，我不会说德语，所以我很难适应与其他人沟通。我能读一点德语，如果我再加上大量的猜测，我也许能梳理出一些大致的意思，但回答一个说德语的人是不行的。我不会搬到一个新的国家永久居住，而不会说那里的语言。
爱尔兰——快乐和悲伤总是相伴而行。我去过爱尔兰两次。我在莱伊什港、戈尔韦和都柏林待过一段时间。我真的很喜欢那里的人。我在戈尔韦的一家酒吧楼上开了间房。当我去取钥匙时，酒保和我愉快地聊了一会儿。我上了楼，放下行李，又匆匆下楼去买我在爱尔兰土地上的吉尼斯啤酒。现在，作为一个挪威人，我喜欢溜回酒吧的阴暗角落，观察生活发生的一切。但在那之前，我得先喝几口啤酒。坐在我旁边的人开始和我聊天，他说的第一句话是：“你是个游客？你现在在爱尔兰。有两件事你需要知道。首先：不要想把自己藏在酒吧比较黑暗的地方。其次：你喝吉尼斯啤酒的速度太慢了！” 最后我和这个人聊了大约半个小时，问了一些关于爱尔兰的问题，戈尔韦和都柏林的不同之处，一些历史问题等等。当我去莱伊什港旅游时，有人带我参观乡村。我真的很喜欢那里的风景和那些狭窄的道路。它让我想起了家。你可能猜到了，我能用英语交流，所以从这个角度来说，爱尔兰对我来说是一个移居的好地方。我可能不想搬到都柏林（因为我在那里看到了很多社会问题），但其他任何地方都很好。
瑞典。我喜欢这个地方，可能会很容易地与他们交流。如果想家的话，这里离家很近，很舒服。我并不是反对瑞典，但我也不知道有什么可能的事情（除了福利国家）会让我选择瑞典而不是其他两个国家。
