Lengthy interviews, I suppose they are more open to expressing their opinion there. The general opinion from those interviewed seems to be "there are negatives and positives to both countries".
The bottom line for me will be how these nations both evolve in this very competitive global economy. Human Rights and civil liberties will always be of importance to worlds citizens, this includes addressing corruption and abuses of power, aspect which Canada, for instance fails to address and it's hurt us. It will hurt America and China as well if they allow abuses to fester.
Both nations need to set an example to the world. Both need to help with civilizations progress. Both need to be honest and not shy about speaking about the issues that worlds citizens deem important in their lives.

I have only been able to instill a entrepreneur Spirit or at least try to cultivate the thoughts of being a business owner in a handful of them. They mostly look for the security of a steady job and steady employment to send funds home.

Of course, there are underlying condition why US helped. Fortunately due to Asean value, we do not fall into trap like Ukraine war. Vietnam war is already enough for us. We already hate wars.
