Having 3 weeks off for every two weeks of work is really good! We been fighting to get equal time off at where I used work offshore but we never had it. Our work schedule was 7 days work and 3-4 days off.
Also only 12 hours is considered work time.

I wanted to work on a rig so badly. Life took me another direction, I now have my wife, a son, my dogs. I could ask for more. I can imagine if I was a roughneck I wouldn't have any of this.

Actually not every single rig workers earn so much, some of them are paid quite low since their agent or manpower supply company take their salary as high as 70% off from what theyre paid. they have no choice since most of bigger company are rely on manpower supply agent for recruiting crew or workers.

I been in the business for 4years 9months exact working with uncles and loving it I'm born and breed from New Zealand but decided to move to Australia to earn more money and it's probably the best thing I have ever done .I'm on aye roster shift 3 weeks out at sea and 3 weeks off I'm on 54 dollars an hour and I make about 6 to 7 grand+ a week something I couldn't make in my own country but now I'm living the dream and I thank God for that hes made me who I am today and best of all God helped me leave behind all the bad habits like drugs, alcohol, smoking and now I'm 5 years clean and I thank you God for all the things I have in life AMEN

As a person whose worked on a rig for 25 years all ima tell you is make sure this is really what you want to do because its not all glamorous like the cameras make it seem and its definately not for the weak minded.
