Yet the advertising campaign was so carefully sculpted as to be largely effective in the face of reason. So many people seemed happy and proud that the US was flexing its muscles, so to speak, that they just didn't care about the outcome, and because of that, to this day, we are all still paying the price.

Always easier and more comforting to blame someone else for one's problems and much harder to look in the mirror and wonder if you bear most of the responsibility for the horrors that have unfolded.

As someone who visited Iraq last month, things have changed to get better, economy growing, you can see constructio at every corner, security is stable. Bright future is possible if Iraqis start to learn from their old mistakes and stay away from axises conflicts.

It just breaks my heart to see what Iraq has become now after so many years of war and sanctions. In the 1980s, despite a ruinous war with Iran, Iraq was poised to join the ranks of the developed world. Its GDP per capita was on the same level as that for Australia and it had a large and well-educated middle class. And despite the human rights abuses committed by Saddam, it was a stable and relatively peaceful country. We can debate what caused the collapse of Iraq; was it Saddam's invasion of Kuwait which resulted in the sanctions or this needless war based on a lie. . I feel very sorry for the Iraqi people.

We can debate what caused the collapse of Iraq; was it Saddam's invasion of Kuwait which resulted in the sanctions or this needless war based on a lie. . I feel very sorry for the Iraqi people.

I was against this war from the start, unlike most people. I could see through George W. Bush. He made it sound like it was going to be easy. War is never easy. In addition, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Because of these factors I did not think the war was justified from the very beginning, and I thought George Bush was arrogant and overconfident.

But just as some people knew invading Iraq was wrong back in 2003, I feel exactly the same way about Brexit. Is it going to 20 years for Brits to recognise this?
