I don't have one which will save you a loads of money but many hacks that can save you a lot of money collectively. I have travelled to 15 countries and out of which 14 I managed on my own. One was managed by my employer. Some of the hacks are about emotions and fulfilment.
Don't book your tickets or visa through a travel agent. I use Skyscanner to book tickets. Getting most of the visas is straightforward. It's a simple process which a lot of us are afraid of. Specially Indians. This alone will save you a lot of money.
Don't always eat at the fancy restaurant. Learn where locals eat. Try a good restaurant once or twice if it has some speciality to offer. Like Sushi in Japan. Eating like locals will give you a sense of what locals eat, their customs and will be pocket friendly. Mind you this is your third biggest expense.
Check on your Facebook network that if you've a friend living in the country you're visiting or make an online friend. They can help you with local recommendations, will act as a guide, companion and can keep you at bay from people encroaching you. Happens in South east Asia a lot. All of the above will save you time, money, hassle and unwanted harassment. So if you are coming to New Delhi try to befriend me. You will thank me forever.

Don't take Taxi everywhere unless you're travelling to a country where your country's currency has a high purchasing power like USD in South East Asia. Otherwise travel like locals. Get a pass in Europe. Walk as much as you can. Good for your body and you will enjoy the city most.
If you like shopping don't do it in Europe and specially in London. US is excellent for shopping overall. If you're in South east Asia don't miss the chance to buy clothes. SEA is cheapest. May be your fourth biggest expense.
Don't keep most of your cash visible. Keep it in your back bag. Keep little money in your pockets specially dollars and euros in SEA. Two girls mysteriously took away $200 from my pocket in Vietnam. It was a bumper dent to my budget.
Don't eat at the airports - food is junk, fast and overpriced sometimes as much three times. Keep some nuts handy like sunflower or Sesame seeds. These will provide you good source of protein nutrition. During travels you need more water in place of caffeine. Will hydrate your muscles and will keep your stomach or gut in check. It's pointless and painful to fall ill in the foreign land. My friend paid $1800 dollars on medical expenses. It was a horrendous blunder.

1) Transportation: I definitely recommend you to download Uber on your phone, but just give public transportation a chance! It is both cheaper and more fun than Uber! You’ll get to know the country you’re travelling better! Most of the European countries have a free application that shows different public transportation vehicle’s departure times and stops when you enter your destination. For example, in Netherlands you should download the app Reisplanner Xtra and I have to say that this application saved my life thousand times. Also, you should check public transportation service providers’ websites since most of they have discounts for special occasions or groups.
Also, I have to say that in Netherlands, public transportation is a bit more expensive in comparison to the rest of the Europe. In Facebook groups, for instance for Erasmus students, you will find very cheap bicycles that Erasmus students leaving the country sell. If the prices more or less the same the country you will visit, I definitely recommend you to join such Facebook groups.

2) Money exchange: Never choose airport or downtown exchange offices! I recommend you to walk a little bit from the city center you will find better rates for currency exchange.
3) Accommodation: Check out AirBnb for great deals! It is both budget friendly and gives you an opportunity to meet local people at their houses! As another option, you can always find a safe and inexpensive hostel but do not forget to read the comments before you book a place! Sometimes photos that are uploaded by the hostel itself might be misleading.
4) Food: You do not have to choose fast food restaurants to fill your stomach! You can always find a supermarket where you can buy some filling and some rolls! It both saves you some money and lets you explore the city!
5) Flights: While purchasing your tickets, especially for flights, do not forget to cross check the prices on different websites. You can use Google Flights, Skyscanner and airline’s website itself. Also, do not forget to browse in private mode because every time that you click on a certain flight, prices tend to increase.

I cannot agree more about keeping track of the expenses. You can, for example, download AndroMoney and I am pretty sure you will be more awake.
Another mobile platform that I can recommend is Glocalzone especially if you want to make local friends. You can bring them the items they want from your country of departure. Of course, they pay you back with some interest; it is a win-win. You both make money and friends!
Another application that I can recommend is Foursquare. You can see the best restaurants and cafes in that certain city and the same goes with CityMaps2Go Travel Guide application. It helps you to discover that city better, on your own, without paying any money to a city guide. I used all of the applications above, and I highly recommend them all. Give them a shot!

Never Take an Airport Taxi. This is literally the biggest rip-off in the travel game. If you’re approached by a taxi at the airport, the chances are that you will be WAY overcharged. Find out if your hotel has a shuttle. If not, most are willing to pick you up for a reasonable cost and there’s no getting lost arriving. Other times you can easily take a bus, shuttle or Metro train. If it’s a small airport, walk to just outside of the airport and you will find taxis that are cheaper than the ones hunting you down inside the airport. If you MUST take a taxi at the airport, look for the taxi booths that will give you a ticket to authorized taxis only.
Avoid Currency Exchanges. They NEVER give you a good rate and they are a business trying to make money off of you. Yes, ATM’s charge fees, but if you take out large amounts, they are the cheaper way to go. You can also go to your bank before leaving and get cash from the country’s currency you will be using. Some banks even allow you to use their overseas ATM's without ANY fees if you have their ATM card.

Cashback Sites. Go to Ebates (<—if you click on my lix, you get $10) and get money back from your flights, hotels, car rentals, etc. They also give cash back using travel search sites like Agoda (Everyone uses in SE Asia), Orbitz and Expedia. The cash back adds up quickly. After returning from your travel, you could have a nice amount of cash coming your way. I also use it to get cash back from buying online at places like Amazon, Walmart, Ebay etc. So if you’re going to be using the travel sites anyway, then why not get paid for it?
Buying Attraction Entrance Tickets Online. Don’t buy these tickets at the door. When I went to the Vatican, I pre-booked my tickets online about 3-4 days before visiting. When I walked up, I literally passed up hundreds of people who were waiting in line to buy a ticket at the booths. Walked right through the “Prepaid” ticket line. This works with many attraction and touristy sites and most offer discounts.
Download Your Online Map to Your Phone First. Most people just buy a SIM card, but if you’re traveling with expensive roaming or only have wi-fi, download the map of the area you will be exploring before you leave. Do this when you have a connection, then when you’re out, the map is downloaded and you’re not using valuable minutes or roaming.
