Why did god create us?
God has not created us. But some wise men created God. (Because Mankind needed God..!)
How?
In the earlier days, there were no Gods and no religions. People were living like just another animals.
Some wise men invented some story about hell and heaven. If you do bad things you will go to hell; if you will do good things you will go to heaven.
People started to fear doing bad things to each other and the human community grows up. Civilization is made up.
The wise men of different civilizations made their own story of their own God. This is how different religious came to exist.
We created God. God hasn't created us. Nature has created us. We are just another creation of Nature just like animals and birds...
Some quote from comment which i like most.
"When humans were in their primitive stage, they were not able to understand the magics of science and nature, even very small things like rain, sunrise, sunset etc. They didn't know anything about the diseases and the ways to cure a diseased person.
These things inspired awe. So they started believing that there is some supernatural power which is responsible for all these uncomprehensible phenomenons. Some wise men related all these happenings to a supreme power which is out of the reach of humans. This led to the creation of god which was then used by some others to induce fear in the minds of people and to use it to their own advantage."

Why did god created us ?
You got it backwards. We created God.
It’s like saying why did Kami create Goku? Kami did no such a thing. We created both Kami and Goku.
We created God for our own purposes of power and control. It’s like creating fiction to make sense of things that are beyond our understanding (e.g., what is the meaning of life? Why is there something rather than nothing? What is the meaning of my existence? Why is there suffering?).
Suffering is part of system of nature. Since we are part of nature we also suffer. There is nothing supernatural about it.

If God created the universe, then who created God? And who created the creator of God?
I always liked Asimov’s answer from one of his short stories. Basically, though a work of fiction, it goes like this…
Man creates an artificial intelligence that remains benevolent and assists all humanity. One day, a child is learning about thermodynamics in school and ponders the ultimate question…”What happens after the Universe suffers Thermodynamic Heat Death?” So he asks his computer. The reply is “Sorry, I do not have enough data to answer that question.” Centuries later, a family is on vacation in a distant galaxy and the same question arises, so the family asks the computer, which has continuously upgraded itself over the years. The reply, however is the same, “Sorry, not enough data.”

The computer has been asked this question countless times and continuous to attempt to calculate an answer to no avail. Finally, humanity spreads throughout the galaxy, then the universe using the computer, which now exists in subspace or another dimension outside of our spacetime . Humanity exists in both physical and virtual form and uses the computer to explore our universe. Two friends meet inside the virtual world and decide to visit what was once earth, now a dead solar system with a white dwarf at the center. The same question arises, with the same answer, “Not enough data.” Eventually, the Universe dwindles to the point where there is no more energy available to do work, AKA, maximum entropy or thermodynamic death. Using the last available energy, humanity uploads itself into the AI. As the last mind is uploading, the AI continues to ponder the question, still, with no answer. Year go buy and the last fundamental particles in the universe have spread so far that even the black holes have evaporated and the iron stars have even disintegrated. The computer finally calculates the answer, so the computer says…
“Let there be light!”

Why, when and how did God create us? What if some of us don't like that HE created us?
We were not created, we have existed as long as God has existed because we are a part of God. Since God is eternal we have also existed eternally.
We have fingers, now if one of our fingers was able to think independently it might think why am I a part of this body? Do I want to be a part of this body? I will deny that a body exists and act independently and do whatever I want.
How is it possible? The finger is a part of the body. As long as it’s connected to the body it’s maintained by the body and has a function. If it were to be severed from the body it would be useless as a finger, it is only useful as a finger when connected.

We are eternally part of the Supreme, but if we aren’t happy with this situation then we lose sight of that connection and think we are separate. That is called illusion. In this illusion, we think we can enjoy separately from Krishna. This is like a finger thinking it can nourish itself by sticking itself in some rice. It’s not possible. The finger has to convey the rice to the mouth and then from there, it goes to the stomach and then the finger will get nourishment.
Our senses become enlivened and nourished by serving Krishna’s senses. If we try to ‘go our own way’ we will always be frustrated because that’s not the way things are designed. We are allowed to do it because we want to, but it will never work.
If you are feeling disturbed that you exist, that is natural if you are intelligent. What’s the point? Why am I here? Who is this God? What does He have to do with me?

These are all intelligent questions, and when a person can’t find intelligent answers to them they become frustrated and angry and often end up atheists.
There is no need for this. A little humility is needed and then one should approach someone who understands the truth about God. One should read Bhagavad Gita As It Is and understand the nature of oneself, the nature of the Absolute and one’s connection with Him. Then one can understand the material world - what it is and how it works.

Why did God create us? For his own pleasure? As God, shouldn't he already be infinitely happy?
Take a dog. Imagine (for sake of argument) that canine emotions are limited to urges to eat and procreate. A group of dogs get together and debate why humans own dogs, why they feed and take care of them.
"Surely," says the first, "they do this because they want to eat us." "Well," says the second, "that is certainly better than the alternative!"
Thus the dangers of ascribing the range and limitations of canine motivations to humans, or human motivations to gods.

Do believers have an explanation regarding WHY their god created mankind?
Krishna says:
For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and prim. He is not slain when the body is slain.
So mankind wasn’t created. God is eternal and so is His energy - the soul. It’s like the sun emanating an infinite number of particles of light. So if the sun is God, a photon of light is the soul. The sun is inseparable from it’s energy - light. The soul is described as atomic spark of God’s consciousness.
Something doesn't become factual because it says so in some scxture or because someone believes it. But something becomes factual by being eternal, transmitted knowledge descended in an intact disciplic succession - knowledge that can be investigated and confirmed by the proper method.

In the Vedic tradition there are 3 reference points to secure that the theology is right - guru, sadhu and shastra - ie. the spiritual master, the tradition and the scxtures. For something to be factual these 3 must correspond. Besides that, the Vedic Version offers a scientific process by which one can investigate the philosophy and have it confirmed.
In the modern natural science the obxt of study is matter and nothing else. One observes and studies matter in its endless variations and interactions. In the spiritual science, consciousness is the obxt of study - one studies the influence of matter on the consciosness and the mind. So in the spiritual science consciousness is the obxt of investigation. One does not limit one's studies to that which is outside of oneself.
That's why the spiritual science is superior to material science. Material science is not sufficient to describe and understand the reality we live in.
And why is this so? Because none of the natural sciences have anything sensible to say about our conscious experience of the world. They only tell us about matter, they say nothing about our experience of matter. And it is our conscious awareness of the world which is the most fundamental aspect of the reality we live in.

Only the spiritual science can help us understand the self and its relation to the world and God. Therefore Krishna says:
Of all creations I am the beginning and the end and also the middle, O Arjuna. Of all sciences I am the spiritual science of the self, and among logicians I am the conclusive truth. (Bg 10.33)
Some people claim they don't need God to tell them what is right or wrong.

But if not God, we then have society, the law, family, parents, tradition, culture etc., to tell us the difference between right and wrong. Or we have our own minds to tell what we can or cannot do, but again that is based on what we have learned from others.
So it is merely a question of who we choose as our authority. Everyone has learned what is right or wrong by the culture they grew up in. Otherwise how do we know what's what?
Some claim they themselves can decide that, it's something you can feel, they say. But if one is one's own authority it's the same as no authority.

If it is merely up to the mind to tell us what is right or wrong, then anything can be right or wrong. Then it doesn't matter what we do, because we can always justify it in our own minds. And how can we be sure, what the mind tells us is right? How do we decide if what our feelings tell us is right? I mean, what if some psycho feels the impulse to attack people in the mall with a base-ball bat, is it then ok? If we are our own authority, it must be ok, right?
The real fact of the matter is that we wouldn't even know that 2 plus 2 is 4 if someone hadn't taught us, and they wouldn't know if someone hadn't taught them and so on. Mathematics is not something one speculates into being. It's something we learn from others as we grow up. We wouldn't know much of anything if someone hadn't taught us. Animals don't know that 2 plus 2 is 4 and they also couldn't care less.
So in the same way that we know 2 plus 2 is 4, ie. by learning it from someone who knows, we can also know who God is and the meaning and purpose of all things - by learning from those who know. And who knows God and the meaning of all things? The sages of the Vedic culture know these things, and their knowledge has been transmitted down through the ages via the disciplic succession. It's as simple as that.
