Are there any foreigners who love India the most? Why?
Ok well I will start out saying that though I am born in america to an american family that I am not what most would call a FOREIGNER. I live my life as an Indian. I have spent a great amount of time in India and feel (as well as others who know me well agree and brought it to my attention first) that I was born in the wrong place. mentality wise I am Indian. I am more of what is called a villager. I am simple, adore going to Mandir and Gurdwara. I also take fast during the holy month of Ramadan. I offer Puja in my home, I am 100% pure vegetarian, I dress Indian clothing, bangles, jewelry. I am trying to learn Hindi and Punjabi but I will say its much easier to pick up and keep things in my mind the longer that I am home in India. I have good morals, Don’t smoke, drink, do drugs and wont do so ever. Marriage is something big for me. 90% of the time I make Indian food (also making my own dahi and paneer as I dont like to buy as it tastes different.) There are so many more things but these are a few of the basic reasons.

I ADORE India. I love the sounds, the smells, the views. I love the food, the music, the religions. I adore the sense of love that i get when i am home. The fact that everyone helps one another and truly cares about their family, friends and neighbors which is something that I have never seen much of in america as I grew up. The respect for your parents , culture and tradition. I see in america the utter lack of respect that children have for parents. when I am home in India I show not only proper respect but I show care and love and obedience to them. I love the colours and am even fond of the constant honking and shouting. I love seeing the lovely markets and Just cant not find almost any reason for myself not to love India. Apart from the people who seem to think that India is a trash heap and just throw their rubbish into the streets instead of walking to a rubbish bin to put it in….

Though I will say that i think it would be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for most other people to fit in and love it especially if they were expecting to fit in FOREVER. India can be difficult at times. the power cuts, the extreme heat, the fact that some people there aren’t as accepting as others , the lack of a in“normal” schedule of shops and vendors, the expectation of being decent. There are people who couldn’t be proper and modest anywhere in the world because if you are there in shorts or a short skirt or a shirt or dress that exposes cleavage or tummy in nearly ANY place in India (apart from a few huge cities and there too you would get some looks) then you will most likely be looked down on and for good reason. God people dress modestly and properly. Some people who are in India might disagree but. I know. I’ve seen how some people are looked at or judged. and though some people might say it doesn’t matter what a woman wears she should feel safe but. I still cling to the belief that if you are dressed like…… a street walker you will be putting yourself in harms way but I will also venture to say that its like that in ANY COUNTRY. Also the fact that it is very hard to live well in India if you either don’t have a well established business (hotel, sweet house, mobile shop etc) and too even that can be hell to make work, or if you don’t come from money or aren’t a doctor or lawyer or so on. It can be hard in India especially for farmers … In america there are at least government pensions, free health insurance for people who are not as well off, as well as food stamps, cash assistance and even help to pay for childcare. there are not many things like that in India to help out those who are in a bad spot

In my eyes there is NO GREATER country than India. I would want to spend the whole of my life there . I would never want to live all my life anywhere else, and I realize that what I love about India others may and most likely would hate. but I find that since I love and support the country so much I love both its upsides and down equally. I also realize that not all women are meant to be like I am. I don’t go where I want when I want. I don’t make huge decisions without consulting others, I care about the feelings of my family and too about how we will be seen in the eyes of others. I would never want to bring shame upon my family, friends, and or loved ones. I have nearly no connection to my birth country nor any attachments to people or places there either and the biggest thing is I have nothing in common with ANYONE there. Even the Indians who have relocated there are generally “too westernized” for my tastes. I don’t fit in therefore when I am in america I am 98% of the time depressed and just downright unhappy.

What do you like most about Indian people?
*My dad was going to withdraw 50K cash from a nationalised bank*
The money was needed for my Mami's operation.
Dad was helping them because they didn't have any money at that moment. After standing in a long queue, dad finally was able to withdraw money.
Money was to be reached on that day. It was already afternoon. Little time was left. Dad boarded an auto.
In the middle of the road he stopped him as dad thought to give Mami some fresh fruits. He bought the fruits. Then they proceeded.
He reached the hospital & paid money to autowala . When Dad went to deposit money then he realized that he had left his bag in the auto.
He was literally crying & everyone around him was upset. Mom was continuously blaming him for his carelessness.
*30 minutes passed*
Dad was thinking to beg pardon to doctor but suddenly someone called him from behind,
Sir ji, Aapka bag auto mai reh gya tha!Mai ghumk Durr Chala gya tha tab Maine dekha aapka bag. Rickshaw stand se jitni jaldi ho sake agya auto daurak.Maaf kardijiye late hogya ho to!
(Sir, your bag was left on my auto.I went far & noticed your bag. I came from Rickshaw stand as early as possible. Forgive me if I'm late)

Dad hugged him & said
Tune aaj do logo ka jaan bachaya.
(You have saved two lives today)
Take 500 Rupees from myself.
He denied & said
Sir Ji, maine is desh ka namak khaya hai.Kaise mai Bina kaam k paisa lu? Ye to haar bhartiya nagrik ka farz hai!Sharminda mat kijiye paisa deke!
(Sir, I was born in this country. How can I take money without any work? This is just the duty of every Indian citizen. Don't insult me by giving money)
Dad : I'm proud to be an Indian & having Indian brothers like you. Wait a minute!
Dad deposited money & went outside with him. Fed him some sweets & packed some sweets for his family. After insisting him he finally took the sweets & thanked.
Indian's aren't greedy
That's the most powerful thing of Indians.

? Yes it is a real life incident. People thought that it's not real but it happened with us. There are many people in India where humanity is still left.
? One more thing many of people asking me whether my dad uses Credit or Debit card or not.
The answer is No. My dad don't use any type of cards. He still has orthodox mentality & he believed in cash not digitalization.
? People continuously asked me why my dad didn't keep any cash at home.
Yes, my dad does store money but at that moment only 7K was there in our house .So dad had to withdraw money for operation because the amount was 50K(not a small amount)

Why do some Indians hate some other Indians?
I will try to put it very coldly: Excess population and extreme corruption. Too many people and huge imbalance in sharing the resources. It's simple as that.
India sure is a land of extremes. Extremely rich and extremely poor living next to each. Huge socio-economic gaps. Huge population of poor and middle-class families struggling to make it through their lives. Poor infrastructure and endless corruption makes every day chores a HUGE PAIN IN THE A**. Frustrations turn into anger and chronic anger turns into HATE.

Do u like Indian people?
I'm an Indian.
If anyone has to answer such a question by yes or no, they have to ignore the rich diversity of of any country(India and Indians here) and how that has shaped their culture, societies through that the culturosocial upbringing of every child to be the person who they are now and thus again them being a part of this cycle with learnings from their own experiences, to create even more diversity.
This question also denies n number of theories on mind and psychological diversity, which makes a person likeable or not likeable for the person you are.
So I choose to ignore this question.

What do you like most about Indian people?
I thought of writing a long one here, but on a second thought - would like to share an incident that happened recently.
I was standing near the Passport office in Mumbai - actually had a meeting nearby, and since I had reached there half an hour early, thought of having a juice to kill some time.
While I was sipping my juice - looking around - saw something interesting unfolding at a small cigarette shop nearby.
I saw a man (Mr. A), clearly angry at the cigarette shop owner (Mr. B), for not getting a match stick to light-up his cigarette, being cajoled and offered a lit cigarette as a source of light, by a stranger (Mr. C).
What’s so special in all this you wonder?
Well Mr. A was wearing a skull cap, Mr. B’s shop name brandished his North Indian Brahmin ancestry, and Mr. C was sporting a scarf belonging to a particular political party, famous for its public stand against both North Indians and Muslims.

What do you people think of India?
Fascinating history, culturally rich, as variegated as Europe, largest democracy, many well-educated and articulate in print media, very crowded, huge gap between rich and poor, Bangalore is Silicon Valley Bharatiya, has nuclear warheads, birthplace of Hinduism, land of Gandhi, gains and losses from British colonialization, too many beggars, many areas unsafe for foreigners to travel (Himachal Pradesh), huge diaspora worldwide, exotic, Bollywood sucks, I love Vikram Seth, why doesn't anyone write anything worthwhile in Hindi anymore, Sanskrit grammar is cool, eternally hopeful,
And after almost 40 years, I'd love to go back, 'cause I was only 16 when I visited Mata Bharat. yes, one day soon I will return. After all, I did my pre-med years studying Sanskrit, Hindi , and Urdu. So much fun. A wonderful country.
