In south Korea, if we do lock our doors then, we lock our doors with modern looking keypads powered by electricity I see 9 year old girls walking down the street alone to home at 20.00. Police officers don't carry guns. They hardly do anything except help elderly people and smile. If citizens do own a gun, mainly hunting rifle, then the police will store them in their gun cabinet in the police station. if the South Korean police do carry guns then mainly 38 caliber service revolvers. However, each policeman has to account for his/her bullets at the beginning and end of their shift. Additionally, there are severe legal restrictions when using a firearm on duty. Thus, police firearms are just a show of force. but still hardly any policeman carry a firearm, thus only carrying a baton.

If we went to war, even with Kim Jong-un's nukes, South Korea could take down North Korea in matters of weeks with our superior economy and army. Kim Jong-un, is not stupid enough to launch nukes even if they were losing in a war, unless he went mad. Half of USA’s military job in South Korea is to keep South Korea from invading and taking over North Korea. South Korea uses latest technologies and has the 5th most powerful army in the world. South Korea has the 5th tallest building in the world called Lotte Tower and you can guess who it was built by judging by the name of the tower.

Samsung used to account for 30 percent of South Korea’s GDP, but now it is only 15 percent. Samsung’s share to the GDP is still growing rapidly not shrinking in contrast to it’s decrease in percentage. South Korea is finding ways to be less reliant on Samsung Group. South Korea found new ways to make money such as entertainment plus South Korea established hundreds of more companies worth over 100 billion pounds. I will talk about entertainment more in detail as it contributes SO much money to Korea, so it deserves a separate bullet point. It is also listed separately when given data about our GDP.

100 percent of our country has service at least 4G with the majority of the country having 5G. Go to a remote area in the mountains and test it out. Kdrama makes TONNES of money, Some of you would know Park Seojun, Park Hyungsik, Suzy bae and more and Descendants of the sun . Korean movies like Train to Busan, Parasite (won the Oscars for best pictures and several others) and more. for gaming South Korea has League of Legends which is no.1 because of the popularity in China and South Korea. I will be honest here, League of Legends is no.1 mainly because of the huge popularity and population of China. South Korean are the best gamers in the world bringing in prize money all the time.

South Korea is leading in skincare, cosmetics and beauty. there is a HUGE misunderstanding and stereotype that every Korean has plastic surgery. this is not true as the majority of the customers are European or Americans due to the cheap prices. sure some Koreans do get plastic surgery but it isn't as extreme as Americans. It isn't from 2 to an 8. it is more like 5 to 5.5. or 6 to a 7. some plastic surgery is as small as removing some skin off an eyelid. however I will not hide that there is pressure to be pretty and handsome. having pressure to be skinny is non existent, most of us are skinny naturally with south korea having one of the least overweight people in the world.

When people think of conservative they think of the whole nation being virgins and not having sex at all. But it is more like when there is a music video similar to Cardi B’s then the public opinion will be on the negative side. This is because younger children will be exposed to nudity and all sorts of stuff. This is quite often misunderstood. My parents went to clubs all the time when they were young and were quite active.

South Korea is not perfect as we have high poverty only among elderly. South Korea has no poverty whatsoever except with elderly people. 15 percent of South Korea is poor with majority of them being old people. As cruel as this may sound only time will get rid of majority of poverty in South Korea. compared to 17 percent with UK and 20.1 percent with USA, I think Korea is doing well.

Healthcare isn't free but 98 percent are paid by government. Healthcare in south Korea is recognised as the BEST in the world. my mum went back to Korea to get health check-up because it was so much more accurate and fast with higher technology equipment than UK even though healthcare was free in UK. This can also be proven by how many Covid 19 deaths there have been in UK compared to south Korea. We (UK) has 3 times as many deaths as our country(South Korea). Oops, this is confusing, LOL. I identify myself as a Korean and British.

Prostitution, although illegal in South Korea, is high too. As high as 2 percent to South Kores’s GDP and remember that south Korea’s GDP is the 9th biggest in the world!! IMAGINE HOW MUCH MONEY THAT IS!!! And imagine how much illegal prostitution goes on! Drugs are extremely illegal in Korea as well.
Just remember that while a country may seem all good, extremely powerful, rich and peaceful, there will ALWAYS be problems to tackle no matter how rich or stable a country is.

If there is one more thing I would add to the impressive achievements of the South Korean people, it is how much they progressed over the last 4 decades. There was a time in the ’60s and 70’s when South Korea was beaten even by North Korea when it comes to economic achievements. To come from there to the current levels is mighty impressive. Hats off

Is this some kind of joke? When I was working in Korea back in 2010 I met lots of people who were working really long hours for crappy pay and conditions.
I had a Korean friend who lived in a tiny apartment on the outskirts of Seoul with his mother and sister. The neighbourhood was a slum and the apartment was so small I could hardly believe that human beings could live in such cramped conditions.

To be honest South Korean living standards can be quite poor for some people. I was working as a teacher and my take home pay was still only around $1,500 per month. Many of the Korean teachers had it far worse and got lower pay for longer hours (sometimes there were even made to do unpaid overtime). I knew lots of Koreans that were being paid as little as $4 an hour to do difficult and dangerous jobs like delivery driving.

The prices also were not that cheap when you consider that wages are so low for a lot of people. At the time I was in Korea the minimum wage was around 4,000 won , yet the cost of a small big mac meal was around 5,000 won and a coffee in Starbucks was around 4,500 (i.e over one hours work for a meal at McDonalds or a coffee at Starbucks). At the time I remember that a decent mean in a café was at least 8,000 won.

I have not lived in Korea since 2010, but I am extremely sceptical of how you got that figure of 98% . When I was in Korea I remember paying around 20% / 30% of the costs of healthcare. I also had to pay a monthly fee from my salary for health insurance.
It may be cheaper than the USA, but 98% is an exaggeration.
