So when any of us die we go to the grave and wait to be resurrected which the Bibles says will happen for righteous and unrighteous people. It is a place of learning, repentance, and changing ones life, kind of like Catholic Purgatory but not as scary. The only considerable pain felt is the shame one chooses to feel, which is necessary for change, unless if someone refuses to repent, and there will be people that do ( The Sons of Perdition). People go to SP as soon as they die. Those that don't got to a preheaven like place known as spirit paradise, which is the safegrounds or temporary home for the righteous spirits that are to go over to SP and teach about the gospel.Outer Darkness is reserved for Satan, his demons, and the Sons of Perdition. Outer darkness is a place without the light of christ aka god’s spirit or the light and life of God. Thats all Mormons have to say about OD. I was planning to just leave it for this is an old question but read some answers which made me stop to write. The answer is NO God will not send anyone to hell. We are not sent anywhere we gain the possibility to go to heaven or hell by the way we live. We get what is worthy! There are a few places we can get as reward. You can find them in the bible, It is very well explained in it. I have two good news for those who are afraid of hell: 1) No hell is not for the one who did not learned the gospel. It is more for those who knew it and disobeyed. Not knowing the gospel is not a reason to go to hell, in fact paradise is the place for those who didn't learn it and still were good. Christ is the God they will have. Well, unless you see the metaphor, it doesn't seem like there is any rhyme or reason. Nor is there any possible sense to it all. Which is why anyone with any intelligence is cynical.But the metaphor is that 'hell' is right here. Look around the world. It doesn't get worse.And ALL people are subject to this phenomenal world's ineluctable quiddity. Whether you've heard of some God or aother, or not at all, makes no difference to our being subject to the laws of the world we live in. As any judge will tell you, ignorance of the law is not excuse. The idea of God sending someone to hell is a metaphor for our being bound to the endless cycle of birth and death as a result of our errors. Karma and reincarnation are intimately connected. As long as we choose to make the wrong choices with the free will we have been given, we are condemned to the 'hell' of endless return to birth and death. It is not 'God sending an individual' so much as God creating the laws by which everything operates and free will is part of that. So we make poor choices, along with the stream of excuses, blame and denial which go with those errors of judgement, and poor old God gets blamed. Make the right choices, or as a religious person may call it, choose to live in accord with the righteous laws of God, and the karmic compulsion to return is overcome. That way we exchange the 'hell' of the cycle of birth and death for the "heaven' of eternal oneness with God.

This is home to many of the great thinkers and heros of antiquity, and lacks the physical punishments of the deeper levels of hell. If the Lord comes in only one human generation, God becomes partial to that human generation because other human generations are not blessed with such opportunity. Traditional Dogma suggests this may be the case. I would ask that you and everyone else open their heart & mind to the fact that God is not in need of psychological help. God doesn't send anyone anywhere, we are responsible for where we go when our time is complete here. God wrote the laws and we are governed by them, so we have a say in our destiny. Just because a book was written as "The Authoritative Guide" doesn't make it the only source for truth. Just as it is filled with wisdom and much truth doesnt make it all true. There are thousands of ancient texts that provide the simple answer to your question. He would not! The discussion of Heaven and Hell is one far too big for this forum. The data and much wisdom is there if you look in the right places, but you have to be prepared to spend many years searching and reading and not tainted by your Ego's desire.
