Singapore is a logistics hub for South East Asia and a member of ASEAN. it plays a pivotol part in supply chains which the UK does in some regard currently, but this will not be case after leaving theme customs unx.
Hong Kong has China, luxembourgh has the EU. Dubai has its oil wealth and Abu Dhabi. We will have nobody.
The only thing these places have in common is they are effectively city States. They have no roads bridges or highways, to maintain outside their tiny boundaries, no pockets of isolated out of city deprived communities to keep on life support, Little defence spending, no agricultural subsidies. The, UK has precious few natural resources whilst United States and australia have a continents worth each to sell.

We are relying on London which is not a bad bet globally

they will be more at the mercy of foreign powers, since they can play them off against each other.
You been playing too much civ or something? I''''m talking about the real world here.

In the real world there are no permanent allies, just self interest

The real world is much more complicated than simplistic tough talk like that.

I think it would also work the other way around : a huge majority of Europe would love to see the Brexiters get out of the EU. That include most of the UK, NI, Scotland, parts of Wales and England, including the whole of London.
At this point, there is no amount of trade that makes them worth staying.

Plus Brexit and the fallout will kill every euroskeptic movement on the continent overnight.

it definitely is. if Brexit has proven anything its that we’re better off going our own separate ways. Scotland and Ireland are trying to hold us to ransom by wanting to remain and wales have made it clear they don’t want to be a part of our future either. we don’t need them post Brexit.

It''''s a good thing if this happens after Brexit. The three countries will have to compete to attract people and England will have to up its game to be more attractive that Ireland or Scotland.Let''''s hope post Brexit Britain is up to scratch.
It''''s probably going to be a disaster for all of them, but at least you get to pick the favour.

If it''''s a choice between honoring a democratic vote, or allowing the entire nation to be entire hostage by a region with a population smaller than the West Midlands, knowing full well the precedent that would set, then I know my choice.

Makes sense. An end of English rule in Britain is long overdue.

We’re not asking for our vote to sway it, we want another vote which is logical given the lies and hyperbole the initial vote was based upon. It leaves still wins after that then fine. But right now it’s like honoring a vote for a curry vs a Chinese dish, but when you get the curry it’s actually just literal shit with rice. Yes, you can still eat your curry out of principle, but I’m sure you’d rather have the Chinese instead.

There''''s a difference in sentiment between a group of people that want to leave because their region was historically independent, and another one that lied to a certain political position but in order to accomplish it is willing to burn it all down. It''''s a rather stark difference.

HailSatanHaggisBalls
Independence in inevitable. Only the timescale is up for debate.

MinorAllele
I agree with you, but I do wonder what that independent Scotland will look like. Are Scots *really* significantly different politically than the rest of the UK - or will we just end up with a similar situation as down south - Edinburgh centric economy with a right of centre govt in power.
Independence, like Brexit, will probably lead to short to medium term hardships in terms of national finances. I do wonder how this newly formed independent Scotland will treat the most vulnerable in society once money gets a bit more tight.

The evolution from ''''things will be so much better when we leave'''' to ''''things being so much worse is a price worth paying'''' has been a sight to behold. I''''m totally ashamed to have to be associated by nationality with these total lunatics.

They are idiots but you can''''t tell them that. Everyones opinion is legitimate and equal.

They seem to have a problem comprehending scale. To them their town is huge and Britain is a sizable chunk of the world. They just don''''t get how small we are. This trouble with scale is also seen in their inability to comprehend billions, millions, and the national budget.
