Books. Alright, I can do this one. It may be half past one in the morning, but hey, high school has prepped me for this since day one.
Speaking of high school, in my state, part of the 12th grade curriculum is the book 1984 by George Orwell. In it, he describes a dystopian future in which a political party has managed to obtain complete control over society. No action goes unseen, no word unheard, and no thought unread. It demands complete and utter loyalty from its members, and in return it gives them whatever they would need to survive.
The Party, as it is lovingly referred to, has such total control over its people that marriages are arranged by the government, education is provided by the government, food is issued by the government. News, industrial processes, sports, even fortification-all controlled by the government. The Party is absolute.

One of the biggest enemies of the Party and thus the Party's power is books because books are one of the best ways to spread ideas. In the Revolution that occured leading to the Party seizing control, all books were destroyed. They do not exist in the realm of 1984.
Now, let us shy away from fiction and into reality. There is a period of time referred to as the Enlightenment, in which mankind as a whole opened up its eyes and realized that we were capable of much more than we had previously accomplished. Philosophers met frequently to exchange thoughts, and eventually certain philosophers wrote their thoughts ans ideas into books. These books aided the transfer of ideas immensely. In fact, they were so influential that eventually a group of colonies banded together and rebelled against the most powerful empire of the time in an attempt to establish a government based upon the ideas of the Enlightment era. They were successful, and thus the United States was born.

So back to the question. Books are important because they provide a few things that are key to an open and intelligent society. They provide a safe place for any intellectual to store his or her thoughts. They provide a means of transporting these thoughts from person to person. They provide a chance to influence the values and intelligence of a society.
Oh, and if you have not managed to derive the reason why you should read books, let me explain. By partaking in a well written book, you are exposing yourself to the inner workings of somebody else's mind. You are catching a glimpse of their passions and values. You are absorbing a piece of their being. You can then utilize that knowledge that you have gained to be a good and productive member of society, one that can make wise and just and decisions, amd you will in turn be able to make your own mark on history.

First, lets point out the contradiction.
Since you ask “why is reading important” you know that it is important. Then, if reading is important why does it matter which books you start with? If reading is important, then you’ll start reading now and you’ll finish a week before your death. So, as a life long reader, Whether you start with book A and finish with book Z, or start with book P and finish with book A, clearly it doesn’t matter.
If you want to read start reading!
首先,让我们指出问题矛盾所在。
因为你问了“为什么读书很重要”,所以你知道读书很重要。既然你知道阅读很重要,那从哪本书开始阅读其实是无关紧要的。你应该从现在开始直到你死之前都在读书,因此,既然你一辈子都在读书,无论您是从A书读到Z书,还是从P书读到A书,显然都影响不大。
如果您想阅读,那就从现在开始吧!

Let me put it this way, lets say, everyone agrees that you must start with crime and punishment but for some reason you start with 50 shades of grey. If you agree that reading is important and hence you’re going to spend some time every day reading, why shouldn’t you start with 50 shades of grey? Or rather what the hell is the rush to start with crime and punishment ?
让我这样表述,可以说,每个人都可以从罪与罚开始读起,但是出于某种原因,您必须从50度灰开始阅读。如果赞同阅读非常重要,所以每天都需要花一些时间读书,为什么不从50度灰开始读呢?为什么一定要从罪与罚开始读呢?

If we take 50 people that never read a book in their lives, if we then take 200 experts to come up with the best books these 50 people should read first. I would be willing to bet everything I have that those, expertly chosen, books will not be liked by the 50 people!
There’s a huge number of books. If you send all your life constantly reading you’ll never read everything. In fact if those 50 people spend their life reading and the combine all the books they read, it would not come close to the number of books published. Even if, we stop publishing books right now and you live to be 4500 years old (50 life times) you’ll still not read everything there is to read!
假设有50个一辈子都没有读过书的人,那然后有200个专家选出了这50个人首先应该读的好书,我拿我拥有的一切来打赌,这些专家挑出来的书,这50个人肯定都不喜欢。
世界上的书太多了,就算你一直都在读书,书也是读不完的,实际上,如果那50个人一辈子都在读书,那读的书也没有出版的书多。即使我们立即停止出版图书,你拥有50次生命,你也读不完世界上的书。

So, the idea that I or anyone can pin point which books are best for you is absolutely rubbish - even though very popular question to ask.
If you are just beginning, I highly recommend you go to your local library and ask how many books you can get out (I can get 12), then just look around the library and just randomly pick 12 books. Go home, or sit in the library and start reading. If one feels interesting, just try to finish it. If you went home with 12 books and you hate them all, return them and repeat the process.
因此,尽管这个问题很受欢迎。但不管是我还是其他人指出来哪本书是对你而言最好的书,其实都是废话。
如果你刚刚开始读书,我强烈建议你去当地的图书馆,问一下你可以借多少本书(我可以借12本书),然后在图书馆随机挑选12本书。回家或直接坐在图书馆里开始读。如果你觉得一本书很有趣,那就读完它。如果你把这十二本书带回家了,发现自己都不感兴趣,那就重新再去图书馆借书。

(Everyone recommends Harry Potter, for me is nothing special. If I recommend few books to you and like me with Potter, you hate my recommendations, you might conclude reading is rubbish. And your conclusion would be perfectly logical! If you ask readers to recommend the best book they can think of, and they recommend something you find shit, then “If this is the best book … fuck it I’m not reading any more”)
每个人都推荐哈利·波特,但是这本书对我来说没什么特别的。如果我向你推荐的书,你也觉得没什么特别的话,那么你就会讨厌我的建议,你可能会得出结论认为阅读什么用都没有。并且在这种情境下你的结论是完全合乎逻辑的!如果你要求读者推荐他们认为最好的书,然后他们推荐了你认为是垃圾的书,于是会想如果这是最好的书的话,那我就不读书了.

WHY IS READING SO IMPORTANT?
I am an idiot!
Absolute idiot.
为什么阅读如此重要?
其实我真的是个白痴。绝对是!
我说过很多人都是白痴。举个例子:我说过特朗普是个白痴,但我觉得我才是真正的白痴。其他人可能把我当傻子耍,所以我才是真正的白痴。

I say that many people are idiots. I say Trump is an idiot for example, but I’m the only idiot that I fully am aware of. Other idiots might be acting like idiots just to fool me, but I’m the genuine one.
There are many ways to cure myself from my idiocy. I could go to university, get a doctorate in one field then another in another field. Or I could travel the world. Or I could hang out with important people. I could hang out with the Pope and get him to tell me the history of the Vatican. I could hang out with a lesbian and learn how hard it is to be a lesbian in a country that doesn’t treat LGBT people well.
I could do all that if I had the money, time, influence and, lets face it, if I could be bothered.Or I could get the similar knowledge from books. And all that can be found in fiction and non fiction. So I think reading is important an an easy attempt to understand the world and yourself.

Don’t put reading in a pedestal. A lot of people do it but don’t. Take it easy. Books have all sorts of information and stories. Some of those stories you will love, some you’ll hate, some of the information will teach you exactly what you always wanted some will be rubbish (Books on how to grow flowers - no thank you!).
不要对书籍一概而论。很多人这么想,也有人不这么想。慢慢来,书里包含了很多信息和故事。有些故事你喜欢,但是另外的一些你可能不喜欢,你可能从书中学到你一直想要的东西,有些则毫无用处(对于我来说,那些关于如何种花的书,就是无用的了,谢谢!)。

So just let your desires guide you to the books you might like.
I believe the best books teach you what you already know!
Think about that, when you’ll experience that, you’ll just know why reading is important, and you’ll not be able to articulate it any better than “they teach you what you already know” - not my original quote, many people say a similar thing.
因此,只要读你自己感兴趣的书就好了。我相信最好的书是这样的:书里面教的东西你已经了解过了。
仔细想一下,当您体验到这一点时,你就会知道阅读为什么如此重要,并且你找不到更确切的表述方法,他们教的东西你早就学过了,这不是我最先提出来的,很多人说过类似的话。

Reading books is very important for the personal development of a person because it exposes you to new ideas, perspectives, and literary styles. Sure, you can learn a lot by reading articles, short stories, and watching video content, but reading books exposes your brain to long form ideas.
Reading an article about tax policy will just give you the gist and a basic idea about that concept. On the other hand, reading a book will expose you to a long form idea that covers the meat of the subject that will help you truly understand the idea. If you want to learn something deeply, books are always the best option. Additionally, sticking to a book and finishing it will develop your attention span and give you a tremendous sense of self satisfaction and accomplishment.

Books made me think that I am capable to write this answer.
What if I ask you what is the importance of your girlfriend/boyfriend and why you always get attracted to opposite gender?
Your answer will be like “ they are the very important character that we need in our life. We are human being and we do have feeling and we do take care of that. What ever the curcumstance there is, we need this and we have to make this.”
So the same for your answer.
读书让我觉得我是有能力来回答这个问题的。
如果我问你的男朋友或者女朋友重要在哪里,以及你为什么会被异性吸引?
你的答案可能是,“他们是我生命中非常重要的一部分,我们都是人类,我们会有感觉,我们也非常重视这种感觉,不管发生什么,我们都需要对象,我们也必须这么做。”
所以我用同样的逻辑回答你的问题。

Believe me I am not lying, the most of the knowledge and understanding that I have achieved till now are from the books whether it be academic books or other non academic.
In reality I learned to read, write, and do simple calculations from academic books. I learned about alphabets and number from the school as a foundation and that's all.
相信我我没有说谎,到目前为止,我学到的知识或者说我自己对事物的理解,大部分都是从书中获得的,区别则是有些是学术书籍、有些不是学术类而已。
实际上,我从学校学习了数字和字母,打下了基础,然后我从学术书籍中学会了阅读、写作和简单的计算。

My school books taught me theories and little expert calculations which I am not going to use in real life until my death. They taught me that the society is good and they respect you with degree and all, but never taught me that all the ethics and rules that I am giving you is the biggest lie ever. They never taught that the society will slap you again if you face your left side after getting a slap in right side of your face. They taught me that I you read nicely you will get a decent job and decent salary but they never taught me how to become a boss and earn salary in the form of profit. They taught me to search for decent job but never taught me how to create a job and employ other people. They taught me to become employee not a employer.

But when I read non- academic books I came to know that the path that I was on was crowded and there was not a single space where I can rest my even a single foot since each and every new born child was on the same path. I was able to distinguish that I meant to follow something else. I had to go a path bit different but the same destination. As everyone’s goal is to earn money.
So, after all books are the only one friend, tutor, explorer and my everything. Books lets me explore the world without even going to that place. So for me books are everything.
I suggest you read
但是当我读一些非学术性的书时,我发现我所走的路是拥挤的,我没有地方可以落脚休息,我必须不断前进,因为每个人的起跑线相同。我能意识到被其他的事物指引着前进。我必须走一条不同的路,但最终通往同一个目的地。每个人的目标都是赚钱。
所以,对我而言,书是唯一的朋友,导师,书给了我足不出户就能探索世界的机会。所以对我来说,书就是一切。
我建议你也养成读书的习惯。

Reading is important because it liberated me from the small thinking I once had. There are some things you don’t know until you’re exposed to an idea from another point of view.
The time spent to learn from the documented lessons of others is a priceless investment. Instead of trying to figure out life on your own, you get an instant shortcut when you read.
What took a person a lifetime to figure out, you benefit by learning in a matter of days. Plus the cost to read is often a lot lower compared to the trial and error you avoid from the author’s experience.
The book I’ll recommend you start with is The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. This is the first real book I read on my own and it changed my life.
After your done reading this, then think about the goals you want to accomplish in your life. This will guide you on the next books to pick up.

The time spent to learn from the documented lessons of others is a priceless investment. Instead of trying to figure out life on your own, you get an instant shortcut when you read.

Books Play an important role in our life. We get lots of knowledge about different topics. if we want to get anything like an essay, presentations, etc we just open the book & get the topic that we want. we can say that books are a real friend of our life. Reading a book is really a good habit because we can improve our pronunciation and every day we learn a new single word or more at least and day by day we learn so many things about different topics. Even I am also a book reader. every day I can read a book before sleeping & every day & I learn something new.
书在我们的生活中扮演着重要的角色。我们在书中可以学习方方面面的知识。如果我们想获得论文,演讲等相关内容,我们只需要查看相关主题的书籍就好了。我们可以说书是我们一生中的真正朋友。读书确实是一个好习惯,因为可以改善我们的发音,如果每天学习一个或多个新单词,那么积少成多,一天天下来也会学习很多关于不同主体的知识。我也喜欢读书。每天睡觉前我都会读一本书,每天我都可以学到新东西。

On a grander scale, reading is important because it is education and an educated citizenry makes informed contributions to society. But, hey, reading is hallowed because it is just so much fun. You can live a narrow lane or you can live the whole wide world, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Try “The Glass Castle” by Jeanette Walls, “The Bees: a Novel” by Laline Paul, “A Time to Kill” by John Grisham, “Atonement” by Ian McEwan, “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah.
Give yourself thirty pages and if you don’t like it, pick up the next one.

Reading gives you experience and perspective in situations and places that you don’t have to experience firsthand to get knowledge from.
Reading also helps you make better conversation, write better essays, and improves spelling and grammar.
Books you should start reading include anything that might interest you. What are your goals? Do you want to escape for a while? Do you want to learn something? Improve your life? Gain information on new topics or places or people? When/If you get bored, switch things up. Try different genres, authors, and age levels.
Just read, read, read!
