It depends, is it free advice or advice, i paid for?
Coming from whom, is that person has any hidden agenda?
Is it a general thought?

I believe, God uses other people mouths, sometimes to tell us what to do? But I never look for others approval.
I have sometimes shrugged off, some advices given to me, but when I came home and meditated on them and if they had brought me some good transformation, I accept those advices.

I may react differently, when somebody give advice which is unasked for, but once its reached my mind, it would be dissected thoroughly, and later after a great thought, I sometimes go and give that person feedback, with proper reasoning, and gratitude.
I go deeper on that advice, if I have gone already further on The data they are advicing me on, I give them my analysis, which I have already done on the subject, most of the time people do not like that, but I believe, I added to the thought, and they would reach from that further, if they find that addition proper to the advice.

Sometimes people force advice on me, while, I am advicibg, adviciing business is difficult, both giving and taking.
I think Doctor, does not only have to learn about Medicine, its also how you give advice, thats must be the big part of the practice, I hope they teach that in medical college, but I do not see that side of Education is shown in movies.

I have been smoking cigarettes for some time now, with half year hiatuses every now and then. If I had a rupee for every time someone told me cigarettes will kill me, well, I could probably buy a pack of Marlboro Reds.
How is this relevant? Most of the people who have advised me over this have been complete strangers. My point being, giving life advices needs so little effort and thought, people don't even hesitate to give it to complete strangers, on a whim.

I look at it in one of two ways.
One : You're giving me advice because you, someone close to you, or someone you've heard about suffered a loss or other consequence. I fail to see how it is relevant to me. What went wrong for them doesn't necessarily have to go wrong for me.

Two : You have too much free time and/or nothing better to do. Well, what you may advise me on may benefit me or may be relevant to me, but I'd still rather take your advise with a grain of salt, if I'm not completely ignoring it.
Either case, if what they are saying is something new that I don't know about or have never thought of, I'll listen to them. If I think it'll work for me, I'll act on it. Though, if their advise is something which is too obvious, or something I've thought of beforehand and rejected; I'd rather make my own mistakes, thank you.

If I get good advice I will thank the giver for it when I know it’s good
I love it when someone rearranges my perception of a problem. Unpacking it on my own and finding a solution usually comes pretty easily to me, but there are the odd conundrums that I just can’t get my head around alone. I often ask for advice.

I also get perspective and advice from a few sources, whether I’ve asked for it or not but I do try to consider it even if I don’t follow it.

If someone unintentionally gives me rubbish advice I’ll be less inclined to ask them for advice in future, but I won’t hold it against them especially if it’s advice I asked for directly.

It is better to listen than to merely hear out someone ,you never know when a bolt of lightening in the form of realisation could change and transform your life as well as others ,or what inspiration may fill your spirit .Look at what people say as a suggestion ,not advice ,sermon , or an order .Don,t argue, discuss, debate ,or reject what someone says ,just listen ,nod your head ,put it away for future ref .You know whenever there is a talk ,seminar ,or workshop ,we light a lamp ,which has a wick, and oil filled in .The lamp is lit and just stands in a corner and burns out .But there is great meaning in this lighting ,which is from vedic times .The wick represents ego,the flame represents arrogance ,and the oil represents ignorance. So when the wick ,ego burns out and becomes black ,the flame arrogance goes off ,but the important thing is the ignorance ,oil which feeds the ego is empty. And once ignorance is gone ,you wake up to the reality ,the truth, humble down and listen to the talk ,with renewed inspiration ,. The ego and arrogance are big obstacles in our life ,they perpetuate our ignorance ,and delusion that we know it all . Listen ,ignore what is not relevant, but gratefully take in what makes a difference . Whether it comes from a roadside vendors ,a kid, autodriver, gurus and speakers ,CEOs ,big guys small guys all guys ,men and women ,listen ,you never know what may evolve from a few words ,and how you will emerge .

Khawaja Saud Masud, In the school of life, I share from personal experience
To yourself say “I must help others with thoughtful and sound advice one day” so you pay it forward. Also you would need to build a generous and growth mindset to be able to give non generic and well-targeted guidance.

To the advisor other than thank you, always share how their advice helped you directly and indirectly. Follow up and feedback post someone’s help shows how much you really valued their time and opinion. Sometimes it’s just as powerful as a genuine thank you.

If just hearing the advice did some good for you well before it’s application, ask your advisor if you may share this advice with others and give your reference. This also shows your gratitude and the impact their advice has had on you. You never know you may inspire the advisor to do further good in the world based on your kind and timely feedback.
