I saw a CGTN video which said spot price on electricity rose 10,000% at the height of the storm. I still have no idea how this works. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. How does the average person know what's the current electricity price? And surely, every home is likely to have things which can't be turned off. Is it reasonable to expect people to turn off heating when it is below -10C outside? Utilities (electricity, water, gas at minimum) are strategic national assets and should be NATIONALISED and operated as non-profits by the government for the benefit of its people.

This is aversgr consumers usually saving money but didn't understand what could happen and supposedly according to some could easily have switched quickly to another provider. Or so some have been bragging they did switch easily in minutes. So saying it was their fault not reading the fine print and quickly switching like others did.

Or so some have been bragging they did switch easily in minutes. So saying it was their fault not reading the fine print and quickly switching like others did.

If one person can't pay, make all people pay for them - through taxation. And god forbid you ever think about making companies roll their lips and be forced to reduce prices to pre-disaster level and redact the sent bills to be reasonable.
