Most French have really poor opinion of Paris. The city is dirty af, the range of people there go from pompous "m'as-tu-vu" to asshole assaulting people in the street, the mayor prefer to put low speed limit everywhere instead of cleaning the actual city. People drives like shit (Pray for god if you ever go to the Periph, which is the road that circle Paris)

Oh shit, I remember the Periph, it was so horrible that I felt home.

Italy by train is a brave choice

I'm from Northern Spain. Honestly, it cannot get any worse than that.

I've been in Northern Spain by train, trust me: it can get considerably worse. A few years ago I was in a train station near Naples and I saw the following notice in the ticket office: "ATTENTION! Today the trains are actually working".

Most think we don't technically have a capitol, but grudgingly accept that Bern wins the honor as they have a lot of the infrastructure in place.

Zürich and Genève get much more attention.

There is a more important thing anyway: Nobody likes Zürich.

Berlin has the common reputation of being the least German city in Germany. I would agree. The people are very different there to the rest of Germany, even I (as a Westener) feel a foreigner there. People are also quite rude as part of their dialect and culture, which I find weird.

It has some cool bits for sure but if you want to see true German culture I'd advice any city besides Berlin

When I went there I felt that too. All my friends loved it and were really hyped to be there and explore the city. I have to admit there are lots of cool places. However I went to Munich many times and I think it is much better. Berlin felt too big with very few locals, most bars and restaurants looked a bit dirty and trashy. Munich instead felt much nicer and friendlier, clean and fun. I think it is a great city.

I enjoyed Berlin because of the Cold War history. The East-West divide is still visible in many parts of it and gives the city a unique feel.

When i went to Berlin during a school trip, our German guide told us the same. She said "you saw Berlin. Next time go to a real german city". But i have no clue on what real Germany is...

I guess like italy, germany is culturally divided. Hamburg Berlin cologne munich Stuttgart Dresden etc have very different feelings. The ones in the north have this Seemann feeling. Munich is the stereotypically bavarian, the world knows probably because the americans were stationed there. The west is dominated by the river rhine and is called the Rhineland. Its a bit french dutch italian influenced I guess. South west they grow wine and its definitely french suisse influenced. They are also very rich. The east is saxony and still feels the pain of the russian annexation but historically many of these famous german geniuses are from the east. And they are catching up fast because they are industrious and smart but it takes some time.

They all are typical german but there is no really typical german. Every part of the country is very unique in its own way and it took them centuries of war against each other and a devastating loss against napoleon to finally unite under one flag.

Most Germans do not live in a city with more than 100.000 people.

There was a sentence written by a Portuguese writer that said "Portugal é Lisboa e o resto é paisagem" this means "Portugal is Lisbon and the rest it's just landscape" everyone thinks people from Lisbon think this way and I just want to say that... We do Hahah.

Russians generally don't like people from Moscow too much, especially people from St. Petersburg in my experience. There's a bit of a capital-city rivalry there.

Muscovites are seen as career/money-focused and not too interested in cultural things. Also we're seen as arrogant. And Moscow is seen as a pretty big hub of illegal/foreign workers "гастарбайтеры."

A lot of Muscovites think Russia revolves around them, and to be frank the national budget allocation (unfortunately) backs that up

I always think people from Stockholm are like americans. They always assume everyone is from there and they also assume everyone knows every street in Stockholm.

We provincial country folk don't trust those city folk in their London mansions eating their couscous, reading their giant newspapers and travelling around on their trains which delve into the bowels of the earth.

I don't know what people of my country think about me, but I know a lot of people from outside of Warsaw see it as a snobby, overpriced place, whose inhabitants invade the seaside in the summer and behave like mouth-breathers.

Generally, people from Milan see Rome as some sort of burocratic hell where nothing really works, public transport is unreliable, building an underground is impossible because works are stopped every two days due to archaeological findings ( but don't you dare ask us milanese about our Metro 4) and local administration is a nightmare because of the decades of accumulated corruption and mismanagement, all while we perceive Milan as the city where stuff actually works and that look at the future and at the rest of Europe.

In my limited experience I didn't found Rome that much disorganised but the part that wasn't center did seem dirtier.

Overall I'd say that Milan has a more European feeling (especially se compared to other big European capitals) while Rome has more of an historical and regional feeling (and is definitely more monumental)

Everything you said is true, and at the same time it's so fucking beautiful. Source: I'm from Rome.

I second all of the above, and at the same time I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Source: from Rome too.

Agreed, Milan is losing some of its historical character to become more European and world-wide, while Rome feels more like that sweet older aunt who thinks gays shouldn't marry: you are affectionate to it but it has its drawbacks.

The best way I have heard someone describe Berlin and its relation to the rest of the country:
"Berlin is like a giant UFO that has landed on top of Germany."
