Why do some Hindutva nationalists, BJP supporters, live abroad? If they love India so much, why don't they stay in India?
I am a Hindu and live elsewhere. So, trust me when I give you my reasons for living abroad and not being ashamed of my choices.
My religion is not a public business. It's private and no one has the right to invade my privacy. I think this hold to the truest sense in the current country of residence.
My faith gives me enough freedom to choose my profession. It teaches me In supposed to be loyal to the " job" I decide to undertake and do it with utmost dedication.
My religion says respect everyone and key people do what ever they want. But my job is to just do my job the way I'm taught and please for good same don't get into unnecessary arguments like "My God's best… Your's the worst". All God wants us to do is to uphold humanity, love and do the right thing ( this is subjective though)
What the hell does Hindutva Nationalist mean anyway? Does it mean being a staunch believer of Hinduism? Does it mean blind Faith in religion? Does it mean stop thinking logically and accept some Godman telling something despite being ridiculous doors it mean not wearing Western clothes? Does it mean ridiculing others choices? Does it mean asking silly questions and calling it Hindutva?
There's a fine line- between ignorance is bliss to ignorance is stupidity. I refuse to to cross that line. I do not want to teach the one who asked this question, how narrow his/ her thinking is?

You need to define “Hindu” and “love for India”
A Hindu, to my way of thinking, is one who pursues the truth, rationality, logic. I call myself Hindu. Living anywhere does not hinder the pursuit of the truth.
But maybe you define “Hindu” differently, and for you the term means both love for India and live in India, then you are right, Hindus must love India and live in India, otherwise (by your definition) they aren’t Hindus.
Now about "loving India". For me, “loving India” = “following India’s constitution”. For me, another Indian’s verbal statement “I love India” is completely irrelevant. I gain nothing by that love. On the other hand, another Indian’s commitment to India’s constitution is completely relevant (that’s the Indian’s promise to all other Indians).
By this definition, Indians may live anywhere. In fact, a billion plus Indians have voted to make it okay to live anywhere, and not okay to jump a red light. If you are Indian, you, too, have voted thus.
So a more relevant question would be why some Indians love India so little that they violate traffic rules, evade taxes, burn garbage, buy things without receipts, chant loudly in places of worship, travel ticketless, smoke in public places…
But if your definition of a “lover of India” is “one who lives in India”, then of course one must live in India to be characterized thus. By your definition a murderer, smuggler, pedophile, or religious bigot would be an India lover, just as long as the person lived in India.

I'm a Hindu and nationalist, not sure what Hindu nationalist mean , there are a lot of political terms these days. I love my country but I'm living in USA from last 2 years. The primary reason for me staying outside India is work and vacation. I've been in India for most of my life and now if I have a chance to explore the other part of the world, then why not?
Just like me, someone who loves his county and believes it's one of the greatest country in the world, I believe a Hindu nationalist must be having their own reasons for living abroad even after they love India so much. Living abroad doesn't mean you love that county more than your motherland.

I am someone who travels to the US, Canada and other major European countries for business and had and still have an option to settle in one of these, but I don't. I'll give you my reasons for staying in India:
1. Equality: I want to feel and be treated as a first class citizen where I live. Whether anyone accepts it or not, we Indians are not treated equally in the developed economies we want to live in. The discrimination may be open or disguised, it's always there. One can easily feel it. Look at the increasing rate of hate crimes against Indians for example.
2. Luxuries: Most people who want to travel to developed countries are the ones who are starting their adult lives, just finishing under-graduation. They see that 1 dollar equals 69 rupees and think earning in dollars would make them rich. What they don't understand is that 1 dollar = 1 dollar when used in the US.
But a bigger point they overlook is that the minimum wages in these countries is way higher than that in India. What this means is that to hire someone to help you with domestic chores is way more expensive in these countries than in India. That's why you hardly see servants in the homes in the US whereas you will certainly find 1-2 servants in almost every middle class home in India.
The point I'm trying to make is that once you start earning even a basic income in India, your life would be way more comfortable than that in the US. And imagine when you are more experienced and your income rises, the luxuries you can afford in India can never be imagined in countries like the US.

3. Family/Friends: As I mentioned in the point earlier, most people looking to settle abroad are the ones who are still studying. They are young, ambitious but not yet independent. They see their family and social circle limiting their independence and hence their freedom. Besides the money, they look forward to the freedom in foreign land. Little do they know they will badly miss the same family and social circle the moment they've settled.
Life gets really lonely in a culture where even the locals lead a very lonely life. Asian culture is very family driven which is definitely not the case in the US. This leads me to my final point:
4. Culture: We Indians are descendants of a very old and rich culture. Besides we are a mix of so many religions and regions with different cultures, all living together. This ensures we have a festival coming up every month where irrespective of our religion or the part of India we come from, we all celebrate it together. The kids having grown up in such a vibrant cultural environment miss it badly once they move to the US.
I know that each of the points I've mentioned above can be debated but I'd say only one thing: if you are an Indian who has settled abroad, ask yourself honestly, am I wrong in anything that I've said above?
My suggestion to prevent the smart brains of our country from migrating abroad is for them to trust our country to give them a life they want. If they work as hard, as they would do in the country they migrate to, they would be able to lead a much richer (not just in terms of money) life in India than what they would do there.
I have purposely avoided talking about patriotism here as there are so many logical reasons that adding an emotional one was, I think, not required. Though, for me, it is the top reason for staying back.

3.家人/朋友:就像我之前提到的，大多数想在国外定居的人都是那些还在学习的人。他们年轻，雄心勃勃，但还没有独立。他们认为他们的家庭和社交圈限制了他们的独立性，因此也限制了他们的自由。除了钱，他们还向往国外的自由。他们不知道，一旦安顿下来，他们就会非常想念他们的家庭和社交圈。

Main and fore most reason to leave India to settle abroad at least for those who are honest and capable is sure not the sophisticated life or huge money or facilities foreign countries provides but the huge rampant corruption shamelessly deep rooted in this country (India).
System is so corrupt, except very negligible few (nearly extinct) almost not even rightful services are available to the honest and capable citizens. No ethics anywhere. Governments itself is worse than so-called looters charging 75%+ tax on honest citizens providing nothing in turn including no education, medical, social security, infrastrucure as government is nothing but group made full of corrupt, greedy government servants and corrupt, shameless, filthy politicians.
Governance and regulations to protect honest and capable citizens are long gone. No protection anywhere for good citizens. Can any single honest soul want to approach any government department or legal system in this country?
In last 6 decades, shameless, pathetic, stupid corrupt has done such a huge damage to this country even 1000 years of invasions, 300 years of direct slavery or even so-called bitter enemies cannot do to this great nation.
Any growth seen in this country is done only by those individuals and companies who managed to persistently keep growing in spite of all hardships. Some call intellectual and capable moving out of this country as brain drain but in reality those are brains thrown into drain by stupid, shameless corrupt!
BTW, to prevent capable and honest moving out of this great country is to restore self esteem and honesty to individuals and system but with the current level, where cheating is talent, corruption is art, looting is legend, unfortunately seems it has gone beyind the scope and level of repairing.
The way things are, Soon this once amazing, great country known for honesty and moral values will be completely devoid of honest and capable citizens left with only corrupt, shameless rogues and looters. Hope God save this great country!

After doing my masters in France for two years I do not want to return to India. Why?
Indians are not a happy lot. Living here I see people try to find ways to be happy. Indians have so much yet we are always worried, angry or frustrated about something.
Indians are slackers. People in France work when its time for work. They do not go sip coffee or smoke cigarettes all the time. They have strong work ethics. I do not know where we learned this but I have seen Indians slack a lot. No one is ready to do their job.
We do not put ourselves first. May be a cultural thing. But I think its important. One must value their own time. Only then we can start respecting others’ time. Indians do not respect time. This is the reason why we have bad administration. I never had an appointment in France where I had to wait for a long time.
Health Insurance. I have a really good health cover here. I never gave a penny for my medical visites or medicines. India does not have that, but it does not have cheap medical services either. Hospitals are hell bent on looting you.
Work life balance. we do not care for our time. Then we stay late at work to finish. Then we grow into a role of manager, we expect our team to stay too. In France my company does not have the right to ask me to stay after 5 PM. I can walk out and they cannot do anything. But till 5 pm I am expected to work my heart out.

Respect for personal space. I do not remember the last time any random co-worker asked me my salary. Or any colleague ask me why I am not married. People know personal space. There are some questions you just cannot ask. Even to a friend.
Society Values. We are too entangled in ‘what others will think’. We have a social pressure which I do not see in France. May be there is of a different kind which I am yet to experience. But I don’t remember any friend or colleague asking me ‘hey what brand is your shirt or shoes’?. I just do not feel the pressure of living up to some standards other than my own.
Of course french society is not perfect. But these are some things which make me want to stay in France.
How to prevent all this?
Some values are deep rooted in the culture. But here are two things I would like people to do:
Start respecting time: This only change can make a lot of difference.
Be a little bit less materialistic: Yes things are important. But there is no status attached to them. The greed of wanting more, leads to a lot of evils and corruption.

尊重个人空间。我不记得上一次同事随便问我薪水是什么时候了。或者有同事问我为什么不结婚。在法国人们知道私人空间，有些问题是不能问的，甚至对一个朋友也是这样。
社会的价值观。我们太纠结于“别人会怎么想”。我们有一种我在法国没有看到的社会压力。也许还有另一种我还没有经历过的东西。但我不记得有朋友或同事问过我‘你的衬衫或鞋子是什么牌子的？’我只是感觉不到要达到除我自己以外的某些标准的压力。
当然，法国社会并不完美。但正是这些事情让我想留在法国。
如何防止这些事这一切？
有些价值观深深植根于文化之中。但我希望人们做两件事:
开始尊重时间：只有这样的改变才会有很大的意义。
少一点物质主义：是的，物质是重要的。但是他们没有任何地位。贪得无厌，只会导致许多罪恶和腐败。

I am not a Hindu nationalist nor I stay abroad. But this approach by many NRIs is because of psychological factors in my opinion.
Living abroad is for a living and for riches , while religion is a private affair. In these places there is high racism and bias especially towards Hinduism . It is not just Hinduism , some people legit hate Indians !! In case of a bigger political and philosophical divide - Hindus from other countries can only come back to India . And they need to make sure they have a home.
It’s like many Jews across the world support Israel even if they have never been there .
I think fear of genocide is the main reason and also a special bond for people of the country based on religion and sense of belonging too .
I think this is the case with many people who support Arabs or Other Islamic countries and Pakistan - because they believe that they can count on these countries in case of genocide. Especially post WW 2 , people became extremely sceptical as Hitler became the face of evil in the west . Believing that europe or US or other Christian dominant countries or Vatican to take care of such issues is also seen sometimes amongst few Indian Christians.
