Hayat Tariq, Am interested in all things related to Pakistan
I’m a Pakistani and I also know a lot of Pakistanis so I might give my two cents.
whenever we discuss the economic success of Bangladesh, all Pakistanis I’ve met so far have only spoken positively and it’s because of two main reasons;
Pakistan is a conservative Muslim state so the success of any Muslim majority country is always seen positively including Bangladesh. It’s not hard to see that most Pakistanis believe very deeply in the concept of Muslim brotherhood. Certain people are definitely going to mock the above statement because of history but there is a difference between a countries establishment and its people. The people for the most part like Bengali’s.
Pakistan sees the progress of Bangladesh and hopes that one day a similar leadership will come and start moving things in the right direction. Bangladesh gives Pakistan hope in that sense.
At the same time, we can’t help feeling sad and ashamed of ourselves because we let ourselves down as a nation. Thinking of Bangladesh’s success also brings up feelings of regret and sorrow.
Hayat Tariq

From some Bengali friends I heard they weren’t happy with the musical chair game of the two ruling ladies though. It seems like BD doesn’t have any other leader there.

I’ve heard a similar story but then again, most countries only have one or two capable leaders at a time.

In my opinion Pakistani people are happy to see the success of Bangladesh because it was the part of Pakistan as East Pakistan before 1971 and later separated due to political issues. There are lot of things still common in both the countries which is keeping the people of both countries closer. There are so many people of Bangladesh working in Pakistan and they are just like any other Pakistani people therefore we always feel happy with the success of Bangladesh.

No it wasn’t. Both countries were part of British India but British India was a colony whereas India is an independent country.

India was under British rule that time. But it was divided into India and Pakistan because Muslims ( not all) wanted a separate country. So Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan migrated to this side. And Muslims migrated to other side. Punjab province was divided into two. Both the parts are called Punjab. Accept your origins. Do not try to mislead the people . You people have done enough of it. Because of all your lies and misguiding the world you have reached where you are today. India even gave you almost 5 billion USD that time so that you can sustain Pakistan.

You mean the subcontinent was divided into India and Pakistan. Do you understand how divided the subcontinent was before partition? It’s a miracle only two states were formed in 1947. Prior to the British leaving, it was much more divided with dozens of princely states and kingdoms scattered across it. Don’t misguide others by suggesting the subcontinent was ever unified as one.
Why wouldn’t the people in what is now Pakistan want a separate country from what is now India? You act as if the people across the subcontinent are the same. The only shared ethnic groups between India and Pakistan are Kashmiris and Punjabis. Those two groups form 45% of Pakistan yet hardly register in India, forming less than 5% of India’s total population. Instead of worrying about the formation of two countries, we should marvel at the fact that more weren’t formed. The Pakistan that exists today could’ve easily been three countries instead, and India could’ve easily been five if not more based on ethnic divisions.

Pakistanis are not a monolith. I think it depends on person to person.
Many Pakistanis should probably know about it, while there are others who do not know. I suspect those who know are happy about how a South Asian country is making great strides and wish their country were just like that.
The world is changing rapidly and more and more countries are joining the developed countries club. Of course we wish every country, including Bangladesh and ours, all the best.

On this temporary growth, people are wrongly excited. For them to know; GDP growth does not mean a country is wealthy.
In total wealth and richness ranking Bangladesh falls far behind. It is ranked 140 in the list of the wealthy countries in the world.News of GDP growth percentage of Bangladesh has been highlighted and show cased so much that eye washed people to think that Bangladesh has become developed. From human development to infrastructure development,[1] Bangladesh falls far behind.
It is one of the top corrupted country in the world.
And, capital Dhaka is one of the worst livable city in the world.
The present regime in Bangladesh came to power in the middle of a dark night upon night’s polling. This is the only regime that came to power in the history of the world by a night election.[3] Opposition parties can not make their voices. If, they are either jailed, or chased to leave the country or beaten on the street by the armed activists, armed cadres and secret forces of the regime. Most common practice is secret abduction to disappearance. From January 1, 2009 to July 31, 2020, at least 572 people have been reported forcibly disappeared by security forces and law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh.
So many people in Bangladesh live from hand to mouth. There area about 40 million jobless people in the country.
The present so much corrupted regime in Bangladesh brought this so called GDP growth information in the limelight for political gain.
The regimes mafias and collaborating people, administration and corporate made money out of looting and corruption. Their discriminating wealth artificially made the GDP growth high for the time being.

I have only seen it play out here on quora with an almost India vs Bangladesh fevour to it. In all honestly, as I have mentioned elsewhere most Pakistanis know little to nothing about Bangladesh. More Indians can find Bangladesh on a map than Pakistanis for sure.
Most of such news never makes it to zeitgiest. I personally just saw it and knew there would be rebukes from Indians. Found it amusing, wrote a few answers surrounding the topic taking Bangladeshi side and that was really it.

I am going to answer this question but it is my personal opinion.
A few months ago I came to know that BANGLADESH’S ECONOMY IS BOOMING as TRT news channel made a video on it.
I had a hope “You can love it, you can hate it, but you can not ignore it, Pakistan will rise and the World will see.” but after watching this video my HOPE converted into BELIEF.
So it had a very positive impact on me.
I think Pakistani can learn a lot of things from Bangladeshis. They are hardworking. Even their economy was worse than Pakistan’s today's economy but they grew even become better than a very arrogant nation( I do not want to mention name of that country). I am highly inspired by their Prime minister Sheikh Hasina. (well I am also highly inspired by Imran Khan).
I pray for the prosperity of their country and May Allah pave the way to success for them. Take my heart

It makes little difference to me as a Pakistani.
Bangladesh has already surpassed Finland’s GDP but I’m not sure how that has made them better than Finland. It just reassures my argument that GDP does not define a country’s development.
India has amongst the highest GDPs in the world but is also the world’s poorest country.
Besides GDP per capita stats like many others stats about India and Bangladesh are very dubious considering they divide the GDP by total population rather than checking each household and measuring the total income. Lots of stats coming out of India and Bangladesh are strongly dubious; especially when they make no sense.

Bangladesh was not and is competing against India. BD is only interested in its own economic progress. As BD has done well, I say, congratulations!
It's a different question if we ask why India hasn't done so well on GDP per capita basis as BD, but the answer may cause offence, and could be termed a violation of the Quoran moderation policy of BNBR. Even otherwise I'm practically disenchanted with keyboard warfare because in my feed I get plenty of provocative questions which make no sense to me. Therefore, I'd rather not get into a fray where I'm wrongly perceived as taking sides.
To sum up: Just be happy at doing well. No need to gloat over anybody else.

Pakistani people are happy to see Bangladesh is prospering and getting economically good. China Bangladesh ties are good but beware US is coming to Bangladesh to sabotage China Bangladesh deal. Keep an eye.

I am a Pakistani, well educated enough to keep an eye on Geo-Political news and relations.
In my opinion, all the people of Pakistan(regardless of their origin, Language, ethnicity ) take this as a positive thing and are happy about it.
As your question is with respect to India specifically, I think it arises more positive and supportive sentiments in Pakistan for Bangladesh when it come to India being compared to Bangladesh in any domain, for one simple reason: Islam.
People-to-People Bond between two countries is very strong. There are a lot of common organizations working in both countries which actually play key role in maintaining these relations strong
Muhammad Abdullah,

Pakistan is perhaps situated at strategically best location in Asia. Near to Oil producing country Iran (wo were under embargo) how difficult to smuggle Oil out from there. Bordering many Muslim nation. Bangladesh Never had such a good relation with US or China as what Pakistan had in past. Bangladesh Could if really wanted to disturb entire North east of India if wanted…
but they did concentrated in progressing. Maintained Good relation with India. all though Bengal influence in Indian politics is not as great but Punjab’s influence is… people to people relation between Pakistan Punjabi and Indian Punjabi much better. With all this odds Bangladesh did way better.
much more to learn for India and Pakistan.. P5+1 always only think about there own benefits.. India - Pakistan and Bangladesh never needed and never will. I wish there one day like European unx if this 3 countries can form one unx.

GDP of Pakistan($285B) or BD($302B) is less than GDP of Bombay($315B) or Delhi ($300B). So there is no comparison possible.
These two countries must be regretting separation from India as its GDP is close to ($3000B) Pakistan has not been able to do well as compared to BD due to primitive or conservative mindset. BD on the other hand has followed India as Liberal mind set and hence doing well. Also BD people are hardworking and honest and are less likely to be like otherwise Pakistanis.

We are very happy to see Bangladesh progress. We pray that they will progress more and faster. Despite the split in ‘71 and bitterness in political rhetoric afterward, Bangladesh is a sibling to Pakistan. The ‘71 split happened before I was born but I inherited the pain of it from my elders. My grandfather always spoke of the democratic injustice towards Bangladesh by not letting Mujeeb form the govt. At the same time, there was a strong indication that Indian intelligence had sown seeds of discord successfully. Regardless, it was a painful event in the collective memory of Pakistan.
I remember in the early ’80s a cyclone hitting Bangladesh and we were collecting Chanda in my school and the streets. There was a lot of emotion. I use to feel sad about Bangladesh during my childhood first for the split and then their small land size as they had a population comparable to Pakistan. As a child, I used to think about how would they feed themselves and prosper with so much less land. They have proven that hard work and the human spirit can take on any challenge. I am glad to hear them progressing and I hope that speeds up. I also hope that two siblings will come closer in the future, we are family after all. I plan on visiting Bangladesh in the near future.

TBH Pakistanis couldn’t be any more happier. Anything that pisses off Indian trolls and Bakhts is really amusing to us Pakistanis because we know how envious and jealous they can be. We wish nothing but the best for our fellow Muslim Bengali Bethren. Its time that you truly become independent.
