In ninth grade, we had a young substitute history teacher. She was supposed to be with us for a couple months while our primary teacher was recovering from an illness. I don’t remember how we got on this topic, but she said something about a group of hunters would go out and smoked the grass to draw lions to a group of hunters who slaughtered them.
I made some stupid joke about the hunters smoking grass, insinuating that they were smoking pot.
She laughed and said something like, I bet they really had a bad case of the munchies.
Everyone seemed to laugh and we moved on. But, this student who was a straight-laced nut-job went to the dean’s office and complained that the teacher was talking in class about smoking marijuana.
So our high school fired that young engaging teacher that laughed at my corny joke and responded. We learned of this the next day when we went to class and a crusty old guy from the office was filling in. We had him for the remainder of the time our regular teacher was on sick leave.

Yes, me and a number of other parents. My daughter got a 0 on one of her assignments. One that I knew she did and took back to school. She insisted that she turned it in. The teacher insisted that she didn’t. He was always somewhat mean to her. Minor things, really, but consistent. I talked with the principal of the school. Two days later my daughter and I were called into a meeting with him and some other administrators, including the principal. We talked a bit and they saw the way he treated her. They asked him to leave the room so my daughter could talk freely (and she did). We found out a few days later that my daughter’s complaint about him wasn’t the first from a girl in one of his classes. Apparently he had a problem with girls and consistently ‘misplaced’ homework assignments of girls (never the boys). After some investigation and some serious words from a number of other parents the school did let him go.

Yes! I had been looking for an opportunity to tell this story on Quora since forever.
The things I’m about to narrate date all the way back to when I was a 7th-grader.
This is the story of my first major victory.
Once upon a time, as any reader of mine will already know well, I went to a Turkish middle school which rather too closely resembled a more pessimistic descxtion of hell. The school was overcrowded, with classrooms made for 25 populated by 60, with most of my unfortunate classmates living in makeshift tents rather than houses of any sorts, and with levels of general well-being and hygiene being not a cause for concern for the nonchalant or rather irresponsible teachers, this school truly was a hellhole.
Windows were broken, desks were, well, for the most part, not there, but worst of all, the toilet, oh that stinking little room smelled like the stale faeces from guts of the Devil’s dead and rotting body.
Seriously, the school didn’t employ a cleaner, and thus the toilet floor was constantly covered in drying poo. The toilet itself was blocked, and thus what went in that room, forever stayed in that room.

And then during 7th grade, I was elected the Student Body President. My biggest promise? To get the toilets cleaned.
And thus, on my first day as President, I went to the school Principal and told him about the issue.
Initially, he claimed that he had had no idea of the problem, and that he would be onto it immediately.
A week passed, but the toilets were not touched.
And thus I went back to speak to him. This time he made clear his disregard of the topic. He said that it was too insignificant a matter to hire a cleaner for.
I was shocked, and thus I decided to prepare a petition. I wrote a polite request, and under it I collected the signature of every single, and I mean every single student in the school. Within the same week I took it back to the Principal.

Once again, he expressed some interest for the topic. This time I thought that he’d do something about it.
I was wrong. I’d left the signatures with him, and when I went back to him a day later, he told me that he had lost them.
Unlucky for him, I’d taken a photocopy of all 11 pages. And thus, with 2 of my vice presidents as witnesses, I took this to the district manager of schools in my town.
At first, he was shocked at my audacity as a mere student to knock on his door
At the end, he told me that he was quite impressed, and he made a promise to me that the toilets would be taken care of.
Within a week, The Principal abruptly left the school!
Edit: Just to clear up some confusion I have observed in the comments, I want to say that this (obviously) didn’t happen in my current school in Scotland, which is one of the most prestigious high schools across the United Kingdom. Rather, it happened in a state school which I attended in Turkey.

I strongly suspect we did.
School in South Florida, 2003, 6th grade geography class. It was her first year teaching at that school.
In the middle of a rant on the Middle East and 9/11, in between telling us about her cat, the teacher pointed at me, called me out by name, and said I was Islamic and asked me why my people hated America so much.
Even as 6th graders we knew this was beyond messed up. I sat there dumbfounded. The girl next to me asked “ma’am what did you just say?” The teacher repeated, “why do your people hate us?” I immediately got up and went to the school’s office. When asked every one of the kids in the class had the exact story. She was gone at the end of the week.

Yea, kinda.
In eight grade, my school hired an extra sports teacher for Track. The guy was young, nice, and funny and joked around a lot. Most people liked him in the beginning. But he began showing his true colours fast enough.
(Just To precise, Track was for 5th to 8th graders.)
He turned out to be a total perv and pedophile.
He started off by saying inappropriate stuff at some girls (including me) and at a certain boy, like “shake your fanny” (fanny=butt. US.), “Damn” in a humorist way. He’d be like “You’re hard. I see your pee-pee” to the boy, “Don’t cum, or rape the girls” and stuff. Seems pretty “innocent”, but it gets fucking far far worse.
He then started touching (us, girls) in an innapropriate way. He’d rub his hands on our thighs, arms, lower back, and would hug us. He’d even “accidentally” graze our butts.
He also liked taking the youngest girls aside, alone to “talk”. after class, or during, to just go get something with them. Or make them do something. Never guys. Always female 5th or small 6th graders.
he veered his attention to the older girls…

His before last class, he took me aside, and molested me, while telling me how much of a naughty girl I was, and how I wanted it.
I didn't tell anyone because I was ashamed of myself, and I didn’t think anyone would believe mea anyway.
Before his last class, the guy molested another girl, which he went on to full on rape.
He was walked in unknowingly by a guy in my grade (who also did track), He recorded a bit of it.
Shortly after, he went on to tell a few of us, and we went to the administration. We told the principal and stuff about it.
They went on to call the police, and the guy was rightfully arrested and sentenced.

Yes. My GMAT test prep instructor.
I decided to do one of these review classes as I was a little rusty, so I signed up and paid several hundred dollars for the privilege.
The first day of class, which was composed of twelve women and one man, he told this joke:
“A woman married and had 12 children. Her husband died, and she remarried and had 12 more children before the second husband died as well. Then, she died. At the funeral, the priest said, ‘At last they’ll be together.’ One of the attendees said, ‘What do you mean by that? Will she be together with her first husband, or her second?’ ‘I meant her legs,’ replied the priest.” This was accompanied by him putting his arms out straight, hands together, then opening his arms wide and closing them.
The second day of class, there was one woman (me) and one man.
I had paid for the course, and based on a test exam, I really needed the math help. I had already paid for the GMAT coming up, so I really had to take this review course.
Every class after that, he complained about the missing women and how someone had complained about him to the administration. “It was just a joke,” he kept whining. “Are you going to teach the material tonight?” I would say.

The last day of class, he had promised a cheat sheet of formulas. Again, I showed up, again, he spent class time whining about the complaints and how the joke was funny, and what was so wrong about the joke, and how women don’t have any sense of humor anymore.
I asked him for the cheat sheet.
“You’re a woman,” he observes. “What was so wrong about that joke?”
“The joke was inappropriate,” I said, “as was your accompanying gesture.”
He looked at me as if I was speaking a language he had never heard.
“Look,” he said, “it’s just a biological fact that women spend a lot of time with their legs open!”
And he re-enacts the gesture, leaving his arms open.
I walked out without the cheat sheet, and called the head of the program the next day. He was so mortified, that not only did he fire the guy, but he refunded my money and let me take another class for free. I took kayaking, and discovered a love for it. I also did well enough on my GMAT to get into the school of my choice.
I asked him for the cheat sheet.
“You’re a woman,” he observes. “What was so wrong about that joke?”
“The joke was inappropriate,” I said, “as was your accompanying gesture.”
He looked at me as if I was speaking a language he had never heard.

Twice.
Once was not necessarily me. I talked about my 2nd grade teacher being ‘weird’ to my parents, and they apparently talked to other parents whose kids said the same things. She was mean and nasty to us kids, sometimes, but other times sweet as could be. She’d make a pet of a kid one day only to turn on them the next.
When parents (my dad leading the pack, being a social worker), investigated, it was found this woman was abusing some kind of prescxtion drug. Fired. I got a new 2nd grade teacher that I loved dearly.
Second time, I got a teacher fired for behaving very similarly towards MY child. The woman lied to my face, in fact. The principal of the school ignored my demands that she be forced to give my child a passing grade (she’d claimed my girl hadn’t done a make-up homework assignment when I had the copy of the TEACHER’s note stating she’d received my daughter’s assignment - she used that to fail my child). This had happened to other kids too, so we got together and wrote a letter to the State Board of Education, and a state senator who came from our town (who had been a junior high teacher here). Principal and teacher got canned LOL My daughter had taken it upon herself to go to her grandma’s to that school district, so the grade never got fixed :( - this was high school BTW

Oh yeah. I’m not proud of it and I instantly regretted it the second I hung up with the middle school administrator informing him that their award winning, prized English teacher was a meth addict who would drive to the nearby car wash during lunch and get high. I felt my stomach turn as he thanked me for the call and hung up. What was wrong with me? I thought I’d feel great. After all, I had just ruined the life of the man my fiancée had been cheating on me with! But I just felt like I had made a huge mistake. I started trying to talk my brain into feeling good about what I had done.
“Fuck that guy! He deserves it. He shouldn’t be teaching young kids tweaked out of his mind. ” I chuckled at the silliness of that last one but even humor didn’t help.
I called the school back and had them reach the same administrator I had spoken to before. I told him that what I reported was true but that he should know that I’m not a concerned parent but a vindictive, angry, man betrayed by my fiancée and he was the man who had wrecked my home. My fiancé had told me about his addiction back when I found out about her infidelity as she explained that she was trying to help him get and stay clean. I begged him to take that into account as by all reports his drug use did not affect his ability to be a great teacher loved by his students at a school in desperate need for good teachers. I was thanked again for my honesty and told that he had confessed about his use immediately upon being confronted and they had fired him until successful completion of a rehab program. I know he relapsed before starting the program. Not sure if he ever completed rehab but I know 2 years later he still wasn’t teaching anywhere.
Ugh, I feel it now still; self hatred, regret and shame.

In 9th grade, my class got this guy fired.
He was the absolute worst science teacher we had ever had. On the very first day of school, we all went to the principal’s office to complain about him. Some of us even said “he’s clearly a fraud.” Of course, the principal just assumed that we were having the typical student reaction to a strict teacher and ignored us.
He then spent the year lying to us about everything. When he said things that contradicted our textbook (Biology), we would confront him about it and he would say “the textbook is clearly wrong.” (I know that it’s possible for a textbook to be wrong, but he was clearly making things up. We repeated the cow eyeball dissection lab that we had done in 7th grade (“Life Science” class - a.k.a. “Biology lite”) and he misidentified all of the parts of the eyeball.) We even enlisted the help of another science teacher to make our case, without much success.
When the administration finally caught on near the end of the year (and after the Board of Education finally heard the rumors and started investigating) and fired him, he first told us that he was leaving because the government wanted him to go be a consultant in Iraq and then the next day told us he was leaving because he was scared of the 17-year Cicadas and wanted to leave before they came out.
