I came back to India recently after spending some years in the USA. It was tough going, as it always is after living in the relative comfort of that foreign land.
Anyways, I applied for an LPG connection, or at least I tried to. The online portal didn't accept my cell number as it was a Jio number starting with 6. As a phenotype American, I knew how to complain. I did it online, and the solution provided was “Our system currently accepts numbers starting with 7, 8, and 9 only, please use alternate number for registering”.
Now, this really made me see red. I replied asking what they meant by alternate number, or if I was obliged to get a new SIM to register for the LPG connection. I also wrote that if a satisfactory solution was not provided, I would escalate the matter to The Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.
That certainly did the trick. Within half an hour, I received a couple of calls from the IOCL executives of Kolkata branch. They apologized to me and assured that the issue would be promptly addressed. They quickly made changes to their system and I was able to register with my Jio SIM before you could say Indiana Jones.
This is Modified India. I wouldn't have expected anything like that to happen in the UPA era until after I had worn out a couple of pairs of shoes, or until I had bribed the officials to the gills.

I registered for a new LPG Cylinder with an Indane dealer in Bangalore; I had researched about the price which would be around Rs. 2,145 for a single-domestic-cylinder - including Suraksha Hose, installation.

What I did to resolve: A week passed, and I thought, "This is not happening. Why should I pay extra for something that I don't want?" Also, the policies clearly mentioned that the dealer cannot force you to buy anything if you don't want to. I sent complaints on Twitter to the Petroleum Ministry.

After 3 days, I received a call from the office of the Petroleum Minister. I was surprised! They said they wanted to know about the dealer and a little more information about the incident. I shared the details. To my surprise, the manager of the dealership gave me a call after about 15 days. He was soft-spoken, and humbly obliged to my request. I had done one good thing -I had kept my documents and the form at their office! He gave me a date saying he'll process the cylinder within 3 days - from documentation to safety check and installation. I visited the office, paid them Rs. 2,145 something. Believe me, in three days I had the cylinder installed at my place.
For the first time- after the new govt. took charge- I felt the system was working, the government offices were taking notice of the pleads of the citizen and monitoring it closely. This incident instilled faith in the "Effective/Efficient Governance" and "Digital India" in me.

For the first time- after the new govt. took charge- I felt the system was working, the government offices were taking notice of the pleads of the citizen and monitoring it closely. This incident instilled faith in the "Effective/Efficient Governance" and "Digital India" in me.

It will save Our municipality's 61 lakh rupees per year in terms of electricity bill expences.
They can use this money in other development agenda :)
and old lamps can be used in village areas.

I was expecting a income tax refund of 60K. Since it was big amount , I started inquiring with PUNE CPC. Sent emails 3–4 times , no response. Went personally to office, was told to come after 3 days. Went again after 3 days , was told that there is some software issues. And was asked to come after a month. Again started emailing. No response. Finally I raised grievance in PMO ( Prime Minister Office ) grievance portal. Attached all email communications. Got response next day they will check with local CPC office. in 4 days I got letter from Pune,CPC that they have some software issue and attached screenshots of exact software problem. After 30 days the income tax officer called on phone and said If he dont take any action within 5 days, he will be suspended. He requested to withdraw the grievance. Feeling bad for him, I did. Got my refund in 7 days, with apology letter from CPC.
Earlier in this type cases, you would just complain to his immediate boss, and the issue will die if boss wont take any action. But this time the follow -up done directly from PMO. And offices were forced to take action.

It got its approval in 2007. Center, State and Municipal all govt were Cong-NCP alliance. Nothing happened till 2013. In early 2014 BJP govt came to power. They immediately asked State to take the metro project on priority. State govt told that they need more time. In late 2014 , BJP came to power in state. They asked Municipal to submit the plan immediately. Municipal tried to avoid it for some time but ultimately submitted plan. Again things were moving very slowly. In 2017 BJP came to power in Municipal as well. A website was launched showing progress of project with daily upxes. And the project work is in full swing and first phase is expected to be ready in 2 years. The website also has section, which welcomes user suggestions and they are implemented if feasible. If this is not progress, what is?

A small example how a simple task like this would’ve been unimaginably tedious if not for him:
A while ago, I went to get my address on my aadhar card changed since I shifted to a new city after marriage. I went to an aadhar centre, showed my marriage certificate along with other documents as proof, but the lady insisted that I would need to change my name since I also showed the marriage certificate. I resisted this, but gave in because the lady wasn’t ready to keep my maiden name with my new address.
Fast forward to a few months later, when I needed to lix my aadhar with PAN; I realised i would have to change my name EVERYWHERE because of that aadhar lady, which I didn’t want to. I sent a complaint to the PMO office through the App, and received a message that it was registered. Few days later after seeing a few (like 3) missed calls on my phone I did a quick truecaller search and saw the number was listed as ‘Aadhar’. Sure enough, I received a call from the same number in a while and it turned out to be from the Aadhar helpdesk, to whom I explained my situation. She said that of course, I could keep my maiden name with my married address and after briefing me what to do, she quickly followed up with an email with clear directions on how to change details of my Aadhar online.
Could one have even imagined doing a simple thing like this without a hundred visits to government offices / managing offices (and bribes!) if not for Modi? No.
So yes, India is changing for the better.

Few months back I was preparing for an inspection from a central government agency for a particular scheme announced by the PM in connection with Entrepreneurship.I was eagerly expecting a car which may ferry the individual concerned.I was shocked to see a young man who just came walking to inspect the documents that were meant for inspection.
Let me be frank, that individual came with a smartphone and after his arrival he installed an app which was GPS enabled. After some time his app got synchronized with that of the central agency and after getting the user ID and password he carried out the inspection verifying the authenticity of the documents.The process was so simple, he was uploading the photographs of each documents to the central agency and after getting concurrence from the central hub he proceeded for verifying the next document.Once the entire verification and uploading was completed,he was again asked to wait for final clearance form the central agency. In the meantime he was also tracked by his bosses regarding the developments.

It is also alleged that Director LPSC, Dr. V Narayanan is from the same community and also hails from the same village as Dr. Sivan. Under the circumstances, it is not just a matter of conflict of interest in recruitment, but a case of favouritism and conspiracy to benefit the Secretary DoS-cum- Chairman ISRO and his son.

This is the reason why despite our best efforts India is not progressing. This is a classic case of corruption at the very top level of bureaucracy in India. This is the reason for brain drain from India. Science and Technology suffers because of this. And the surprise is that it is continuing even after 6 years of Modi rule. People have no fear. Corruption goes on un checked.
This case should be investigated and if allegations are found to be true then ISRO chairman should be sacked. Also this is the same man under whose leadership India’s Chandrayaan-2 miserably failed in September 2019. Not a good example to set in front of the younger generation.

Last night, I was just chatting with my cook and was talking about his family and about him. He comes from a village close to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. While talking about his village he mentioned that so many things had changed in his village.They now have electricity for 14 to 18 hours a day, they have cooking gas coming in and don’t need to burn more wood and the things have changed for the bettter.
His wife was expecting and was due any moment and he mentined he received Rs. 6000.00 from the Government towards her delivery. They also receive 25 kgs of rice at the subsidized rate using his Aadhar Card and also does get medical insurance for the family.
I had heard about all this in media but was not able to confirm whether all the schemes had actually been implemented. I could not have got a better confirmation and proof that things are actually changing. I am certain that India is changing and for the better. It would really help if the opposition support the change and help the Government during the parliament sessions. It is very important for the opposition to contribute towards the change. At present it seems more of an hindrance to growth and the progress of the country.
What I would like to end with is that, my city Mumbai seems to be much cleaner and I don’t see anyone openly throw trash on the roads. There is a lot more to do but we are moving towards a better India.

2) Railways now have appointed cleaners and they come, clean and take your feedback which I have never seen in last 30 years. Every passenger is now being called (IRS though) asking feedback on how the travel was. I travelled thrice in last three months and I got the call all three times.

I am from a scenic village called Savoi Verem in Goa. My village is full of agricultural land and forest. Every year we come across damage of 1–4 electric supply poles in the rainy season due to uprooting of trees even though the poles are laid along the roadside as the roads pass through the forests and cultivated land. We try to inform the local electricity department office of the power cut, but they seldom pick up the call.
Being fed up of the situation, registered a grievance with the PMO about the frequent and prolonged power cuts in my village suggesting the laying of underground electric cable to address the issue.
I received 3 replies within 35 days (5 weeks) by post from the Office of the Sub-Divisional Engineer, Office of the Executive Engineer and The Department of Public Grievances.
The Chief Electrical Engineer was requested to look into the matter, verify the facts and redress my grievance and also instructed to communicate the action to me with an endorsed copy to the Department of Public Grievances.
The Executive Engineer posted to me saying a fund of INR 5,40,78,265/- only has been sanctioned by the Central Government under Tribal Sub-Plan and the awarding of Contract is in progress. I am feeling the change.
