laziness is a basic emotion dictates our lives. We often consider this as a negative thing. There are lots of behaviors we can pit under the topic of being lazy. what I am telling is not every behavior under that is not negative or bad. There are lot of positive lazy behaviors too. As a example being bored and doing nothing can boosts our creativity. Being lazy sometimes a medicine to mental stress too. we should be able rest in our brains. That is why sleeping is ultra important thing in human life. Without sleep a person could suffer from lots of behavioral problems. Scientists says it is even fatal. So we need to distinguish negative and positive laziness. Then being lazy is not wrong always. It could be useful in our life.

I am so lazy that I hate myself. I want nice things in life but I'm too lazy to work for them. I've been complaining all day and it's making my friends and family crazy. What should I do?
Most of the people who have responded to this question, while well meaning, are completely wrong.
I’m sorry, but you don’t need to “Just Do It” and “Stop being lazy”.
You need to realize that laziness and apathy, especially in the presence of the desire to improve your life, are typically a result of neurotransmitter deficiency (i.e. Serotonin and Dopamine).
With that in mind, you must take a holistic approach to your problem of laziness and self loathing.

Here’s what I would recommend.
1. Start with Your Physical Health
As I’ve already stated, what is often thought of as “laziness” is, in reality, a neurological malfunction.
The first step to fixing this malfunction is to optimize your habits and lifestyle for cognitive function.
But of course, this is a catch 22.
You feel lazy and hate yourself so it will naturally be harder to start working out, eating well, etc. etc but until you start working out, eating well, and taking care of your physical health you will continue feeling lazy and hating yourself.
Luckily, all hope is not lost.
Myself (and most clinical psychologists that I know) recommend that you start with your sleep.
If you are not getting 7–8 hours of good sleep a night, then you are screwing up your brain.
Here’s your sleep cheat sheet.
BLACK OUT your room (if you can see your hand over your face, get some black trashbags and tape them to your window)
Turn the thermostat to 65 or open a window
Turn off all screens 60 minutes before bed (or install f.lux to filter the blue light)
Stop eating and drinking alcohol after 8 pm
Go to bed before 2 a.m. and wake up by 8 a.m.
Drink a cup of tea with 1 Tbsp of Raw Honey and 2 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar an hour before bed
Once you have fixed your sleep, meaning that you sleep 7 hours a night on a consistent basis and don’t feel tired for most of the day, you can move on to your diet.
As far as diet is concerned, you want to focus on eating whole foods as much as possible.
Start by adding 2 green smoothies a day to your diet, drinking 2–3 cups of coffee after breakfast, and getting more vegetables, fruit, etc. in your diet.
You want to eliminate processed foods, sugars, and simple carbs as much as possible (except after heavy exercise).
Then, once you have a handle on your diet and consume 80% of your calories from whole food sources, you can start exercising.
If you want to know what exercises you should do, then answer is simple.
Whichever ones you enjoy.
Go parkouring, skateboarding, get into calisthenics, ride your bike or do whatever the hell else you want.
If it’s an outdoors/social activity you get bonus points.

2. Filter What You Feed Your Mind
If you are being lazy and chronically bitching about life (even though you don’t have anything to complain about - as evidenced by the fact that you are on Quora) then chances are good that you are’t being careful about what you feed your mind.
I know that it might seem silly to some people, but “Garbage in garbage out” is one of the truest statements ever uttered.
If you are watching scary movies, TV shows about lazy bums (Family Guy and the Simpsons anyone?), or feeding your mind with other negative bullshit, then naturally that is what your brain will begin to produce.
After you have started to take better care of your body, I want you to go on a 30 day information and complaining fast.
This means that you are’t allowed to watch, read, or listen to anything that isn’t positive and uplifting for 30 days.
You aren’t allowed to bitch, whine, or complain either.
If you catch yourself complaining or watch something negative, then you start the counter over. Period.
Until you have completed this fast, you are not allowed to move on to the next part because, frankly, it won’t do any good if you are acting like a negative ass hole all the time.

3. Watch Your Self Talk and Start Taking Action
Once your physical health is in order, you’ve eradicated negativity from your mindset, and you’ve cleared out the mental clutter, it’s time to start replacing those things with positive actions and affirmations.
First and foremost, I want you to watch how you talk to yourself.
It might sound corny, but I have friends who coach Olympic athletes and billionaires and ALL of them place a high premium on self talk.
If you tell yourself that you are a no good lazy piece of shit, guess what? You are going to feel and act like a no good lazy piece of shit.
On the other hand, if you tell yourself that you are a winner and destined for greatness, then your brain will start to pick up on opportunities and pay more attention to positive things.
Then, you are going to pick SOMETHING hell, ANYTHING that will get you excited and ready to take action.
Whether you start a new business, pick up a new hobby, get involved in a sport, or find a job that you love, pick something and get obsessed with it.
The more time and energy you can devote to the things you like, the more successful you will ultimately be.

Bonus: Read, Read, Read and Read Some More!
Just about every wildly successful person remembers times of self loathing and laziness.
Hell, there was a period in my life when I wanted to die, could barely pull myself out of bed, and HATED Myself and my life.
Today, I run a 7-figure business, have an awesome relationship, great physical health, an amazing social circle, and I’m living the life of my dreams.
I started reading personal growth and business books, met people playing the game at a higher level than me and took massive action.
The more you read, the more you will realize that there is a solution to any problem that you are facing. Someone else spent a decade of their life (or more) uncovering the solution to everything you are struggling with.
You just have to find the best advice and take action.

A woman in Florida became morbidly obese and spent all of her days inside eating and lounging, despite efforts of family to change her lifestyle.
Eventually, because she’d become so large, her health started failing.
A family member called in to report she was having emphysema-related issues.
When teams arrived, the house was in disarray and hadn’t been cleaned in years. Trash caked the floor. It was clear the woman hadn’t gotten up to use the bathroom in a long time.
The stench was so powerful they had to get fans to air the house out before they went in.
When they got to the woman, she was conscious and cognizant — but she could not get up. The team then had trouble removing her from the couch and putting her on a stretcher.

In computer programming laziness is an extremely valuable trait. A lazy person will find the path of least resistance and the simplest way to do something with the least amount of energy.

Larry Ouma
Laziness. It is not the lack of morale, rather the inability to activate a dormant morale.
Lazy people are the ones who we say of, “You could be Bill Gates if you wanted”. It is not that you can’t, you have just refused.
So, how harmful is laziness?

It makes one never ever pursue their dreams.
It makes one have the false belief that they can’t be rich, successful or find a hot woman to date. Lazy people have the morale, they just haven’t let it shine. Lazy people have the knowledge, they have just refused to use it.
It makes one a burden to others. They borrow for this and that.
It makes life expensive. One becomes easily sick, easily bored (to only think of crime) and therefore, they spend lots on health and suffer criminal implications.
It makes relationships fail. Nobody wants to just take care of people. If you can’t work, you can cook.
It makes life unfair to others. Others work, cook, face the rain, face the summer and all the lazy one does is find strength for Pornhub or video games.

It makes one have a bad name. Nobody wants to be known as the “lazy one”. It is a demeaning name.
It makes one a total turn off. Women hate the lazy man that never tries to make things better. Try, try and try again. The woman will love you.
It makes women gold diggers. All she wants is cash. hell no!
It creates a false impression of “God has refused to bless me”. Whether there is a God or not, help yourself first. Even He helps those who help themselves.
Laziness is a vice.
We should try our best to defeat it.

Bill Gates said he would always 'hire a lazy person to do a difficult job' at Microsoft 'because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it'
I would say use laziness to you advantage :
Just keep a really long password for Facebook and other social media.thus when you really want to work just log out .by nature you are too lazy to login in again and you have a productive day
Do your work at the last moment. It really helps because it allows you to focus on what's important.
Any idea why people invented lifts cars etc .because they where lazy
If you are lazy chances are you are pretty smart and effective. Thus you get bored when you have nothing to do
Conclusion being lazy is not always a bad thing .

Matt Westwood
Many people will believe they have the right to tell you how to live your life, and in particular, when they see you are not being "busy" like them, they will attempt to force you into something "productive" instead of being (as they say) "lazy".
My reply to such people is: damn you to hell, you fascists.

Peter Mills
There are many commendable things about laziness. If you are lazy, you often seek more efficient ways of doing things, like programming a computer to do the work for you. If you are lazy, you may not be polluting the environment and eating up valuable resources by driving to work every day and flying to conferences for instance. People need to become more lazy. On the one hand, worker productivity has soared. On the other, people don`t work any less. The upshot being that there is a whole lot of busy-work going on that doesn`t actually benefit anybody yet actively harms the world`s other denizens. So we need some way first, of getting people to work less, and second, of distributing necessary resources to those who choose not to work so much.

It can ruin your life if it becomes severe, but in order to become severe, others have to permit you to be lazy.
You have to, at the minimum, provide for your basic needs, so you require money, which requires work. Most people, just like most other animals, are inherently lazy. Many of us would love for others to do all the work while we spend our lives on the couch, but we aren't surrounded by people willing to do that.
All truly lazy people must have enablers who allow them to do no work.

Andrei Palskoi
There is nothing wrong with laziness if you don't want freedom and capability to shape your own life and if you don't suffer when things don't go the way you'd like them to go.
Laziness saves you some energy when moving through your life path, but it does not conserve that energy for any good use. The energy must flow, and if you do not use all that you are given, the flow gets weaker and you will have less supply of it in the future, not more.
Also, inertia of mind caused by laziness makes it so much harder to act when a change is really necessary or when an opportunity is presented, so you miss valuable opportunities.
But there is one additional important consideration. Maybe your laziness is a sign that you are persuaded you have do something that in the end does not benefit you at all. Once you find out what you really need in life, the channel for applying your energy will open and the laziness will go away.

Everything if reaches its extreme becomes poison
there will always come a time when you will realise that it was wrong and you have wasted your precious time.
Personally I think nobody is lazy. If you one is described as lazy:
1.They are physically weak
2. They still haven't found what they are interested in.
3.They have an indifferent attitude towards orders or requests of others.
From my experience and perception people who are lazy fall under the above category.

People call you lazy because you don't do what they want you to. After you hear "You are Lazy" for a long time and a lots of time you would come to the same conclusion, one which was nailed into your mind forcefully without anyone knowing.
So now you believe you are lazy. People who don't like to be criticized like to change that. So they try to find what they are interested in or (in the case of Indians mainly) they are forced to develop one. But they do work hard and become someone who the people criticized will look in awe and don't dare to face.
People with an indifferent attitude like to be the same. These People are usually people who belong to rich family where they receive scoldings from only few and not all. So they dont have the need to change and moreover their circumstances do not demand one.

Susan Lasky
The real question is, what do you want out of life and are you able to get it, or are you being held back by ‘laziness'? Are the people around you being harmed? is laziness causing you to suffer negative consequences (physical health, career, relationships)?
There are many reasons for apparent laziness. Some are, as others have mentioned, due to physical or psychological issues.
A person can be motivated, but have difficulty turning on their ignition switch, especially when a task isn't stimulating, or is difficult, boring or confusing.

Vinay Sharma
I think it really depends on you. If you are okay with being lazy than it should be okay . We weren't put on this earth to necessarily make other people happy before ourselves.
However I assume since you are writing the question , somebody is either giving you a hard time about it or something has got you wondering if you should be more productive.
This society thrives on being busy and productive and this somehow leads to happiness - I'm not sure it does. I personally think that doing what you enjoy doing , including work , because you have to spend so much time there, and doing what you want to be doing in your off time , as long as you are not burdening anyone, financially dependent on anyone or hurting anyone and you are happy, than it's all good.
The one thing that concerned me in your statement was that you HATE WORKING . Hate is such a strong word and only used in extreme circumstances , makes me think that is where you are. From the beginning of time unless someone has a trust fund , everyone has to work, it's just a truth , like paying taxes and death. I wonder if finding a new job that satisfied your interests more would help. Also I must add, even though you don't mention it, some people who think they are lazy , disinterested, not motivated, don't like things, are actually surprised to find out they have spent most of their lives depressed. Depression can be caused by genetics, medical reasons like thyroid problems or difficult life situations.
