Edit: I'm not against foreigners working in Nigeria as ‘Quora moderators' and some comments suggest. I'm against the way and manner foreigners are being treated by our government and even fellow Nigerians. They almost always go butterflies when they see a white foreigner. We do foreigners favors we won't do to our countrymen and women. We know how Nigerians get treated abroad, I'm not saying we should return evil for evil, I only want us to value our fellow countrymen like we value foreigners.

This is Nigeria for you. We love foreigners. We treat foreigners with far more respect than they usually have in their home country. We make you feel at home and take care of you in any way humanly possible. Our government loves strangers more than our fellow countrymen and that is why strangers troop in here to have all our jobs because Nigeria is indeed good to strangers!

I've been to Nigeria but only to visit. I see it as unfair for outsiders to work there when there are Nigerians that don't get proper pay.
I don't see Nigeria as good or bad. I just see it as different and the difference in culture can be a breath of fresh air. The only issue I had was that I was seen as a bank and not a person by some, because I was white and it meant I had money. In truth I spent all my money on the travel. I was visiting with a family and they were caring for me during my short visit. Other than those trying to cash out on me, the kindness I received is nothing like back home and was instantly treated like family.
If you are a lover of cultures and food there is no way you cannot fall in love with the people of Nigeria.

The answer to this question, like the answer to other Nigerian questions lie in the history of Nigeria. Particularly the creation of Nigeria. You see, government, education and democracy as we have it presently in Nigeria were literally created by foreigners (their motives is a subject of another discussion). The administration back then was predominantly ‘foreign’ and they helped themselves to the best the land could offer while repressing any voice of decent. As the calls for independence grew louder, the foreigners handed the reigns of power (however sinisterly) back to Nigerians. The ideology of government administration by a foreign conquering force still linger on. Despite the best intentions of the independence fighters coupled with a series of unfortunate military coups, the fate of Nigerians in power treating civilian Nigerians like cattle (no 'Jubril from Sudan' pun intended) and Nigerians treating foreigners (Caucasians particularly) like king was set. When the oil boom started, Nigeria didn't have local expertise to deal with it so we turned to ‘foreign’ Nationals. Like the colonial era, the foreigners had access to the juiciest oil deals and government officials shared oil-blocks among themselves (much like the colonial administrators).

To cut a long story short, the ideology that runs our government and relationship with foreigners (particularly Caucasians) is that of the conquered versus the conquerer. Chimamanda Adichie said something along the lines of “while growing up, the stories she read were of white children who wore lady dresses and suits while eating apples. And it wasn't until she became older that she realized that wasn't our reality” (I hope I got the essence of it).

The Chinese are presently enjoying this privilege mostly at the moment. They tend to have stuff fall in their lap, remember the Chinese restaurant where non Chinese people can't enter in Ikeja? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

I'm a Nigerian. And your facts are verifiable. Nigerians aren't Xenophobic in any way even though we could discriminate against one another (ethnically, religiously and so forth) but we love foreigners with open arms…. What an irony.
Some lowest level Chinese will come down here and open some little business and then start threatening their Nigerian employees of retrenchment, Indians are known to be notorious about owing their employees wages…I mean they don't pay and they treat Nigerians (citizens of where they're operating business) like trash.
The Indians are somewhat dirty. I've seen couple of them throwing garbages on the highways from their cars (probably thinking nothing will happen afterall.) Don't forget Indians deficate on the street in their own country.

Nigerian immigration is the easiest. People just walk in here and out anytime they want. Nigeria is so accommodating that an Ebola patient flew himself in from Ebola ridden Liberia back in 2014….Nigerian citizens were killed by the deadly disease due to contacts. The government prefers foreigners over us.
Unless you're working in a notoriously giant organization with maybe 10 years experience, a freshly employed Nigerian versus an imported employee from India or US, France, Lebanon etc would earn 10x higher even while probably doing nothing.

I'm not making things up. I'm speaking from experience. My currently work hired some Indian developers some times last year. They were total disaster. It was Nigerians that built everything. These guys just speak what we barely understand giving excuses and complaining everyday. They infact resigned…company was probably scared to fire them… LMFAO.
