People travel for a variety of reasons, from seeking adventure and exploration to simply wanting to experience something new.
For me personally, I feel an immense sense of freedom when I travel.
It's like the world is my oyster and there are endless possibilities ahead.
There's nothing quite like being able to explore different cultures, meet new people, try unique foods and see breathtaking sights that you can't find anywhere else in the world!
Traveling also helps me gain perspective on life by allowing me to step outside my comfort zone and appreciate what other parts of the world have to offer.

There are many who say they love traveling. Not many know why.
The reasons they give are 'because it is fun', 'because I like to check out new places and meet different people', 'because I get to learn', etc.
The common denominator to these reasons is this: Traveling leads to de-conditioning. In a new place you see a way to eat, commute, socialise, work and laze which is different from what you have been used to. You get distanced from your habitual wants, needs and desires and even from your religion or morality. You realise they are not absolutes. They are just perspectives. And that they change with geography. Since this knowledge is new every time you travel, you feel renewed.
The novel environment of how people live or how nature functions, makes you hold on to your definition of your 'self' a little looser. It gets you out of your story of yourself, and you become a witness to your experiences, so to speak, you stand outside of yourself. The Latin word for this was a unx of ex (outside) and statis (standing). We know it today by the word 'ecstasy'.
The unfamiliar environment is a dangerous environment for the subconscious. It gets alx towards new stimuli, to analyse new threats. So it deploys the resources of your entire brain towards it. What time does the flight leave? Which gate? Have we packed everything? Which bus to take? Should we ask this person? How do I get back to the hotel? Which button to switch the TV on? In every small and big decision your entire brain becomes attentive to the stimuli your 5 senses are taking in. You become 'mindful' to what happens around. Boredom vanishes. It is the same what you experience in yoga, swaying to music, meditation, or in a loving embrace. Your mind and body align better with each other.
So, 1) to decondition the self, 2) to live a few days as a witness, and 3) to bring your mind and body in alignment with the moment - same as the teachings of buddhism, or yoga, or meditation - those may be the real reasons why people enjoy traveling.

这个拉丁语词是ex(外面)和statis(站着)的结合。

Traveling is something everyone must do at one point or another. It keeps you young, childish, loving.
I haven’t traveled in a while now and miss the excitement you feel before a trip. The feeling of getting to see and try new things. The feeling of being totally at ease. There is nothing that can replace what it feels like to travel.
Generally, traveling is for people who are looking to grow and change. Seeing the world means widening your horizons to more possibilities. It’s really like moving from a village to a big town. Suddenly you see more, know more and want more.
You start to focus on what it means to be living. You experience every day as if it were the last, keeping your own past judgments at bay.
It will leave you with the sense of being a global citizen. The amount of change you will have been through will be unprecedented in your life. These are all reasons to travel, whether that be on your own or with a tight-knit group of friends.
Setting out to travel necessitates some courage. But finding the courage is fairly easy. So don’t be afraid to.

How does it feel to travel alone?
Though I didn't plan on travelling alone, but was compelled to do so. I had planned a trip to Leh, ladakh with a group of friends. The discussions were done, plan was made, routes decided, necessary purchases made, motorcycles readied everything taken care of.
The plan was to ride 4 motorcycles from Bangalore to Leh. As the day of the journey started approaching, people started dropping out one by one. Each giving a different reason. On the day of the journey the last and the final person backed out..
So, had to make a choice, whether to give up on the plan or attempt a solo ride to the Himalayas riding across the country on a 20 year old motorcycle.
I decided, what the heck, let me have a go at it, I've already applied those leaves no point backing out. I made up a mental agreement, the moment when the motorcycle gives up is when I will give up and head back.
As it turned out for the next 26 days it never did. Me and my motorcycle, we took it a day at a time, picked a destination and tried to make it. Almost always we did.
The route took me across the country, Blore - Pune - Mumbai- Ahmedabad - Mt Abu- Udaipur- Jaipur- Amritsar- Chandigarh- Jammu- Srinagar- Kargil- Leh
I noticed, everybody was surprised to see a 22 year old guy traveling alone from Bangalore on a motorcycle almost nearly as old as him.

By the time I had reached Leh, I had already covered 4000kms, was tired and fell sick. But the bike was in perfect condition and I remembered the agreement we had made. Kardungla pass, the highest motorable road at 18380 feet and the beautiful Pangong lake is what I came all the way for.. Decided to make one final push..
Soon after, I had to head to lower altitudes but the toughest road Leh- Manali was what I had to tackle to reach home. Crossing those flooded roads, no tarmac to insane traffic. I remember very less of the journey but just kept going. Reached Chandigarh shipped the bike and took a flight to Bangalore.
Though I spent the next 7 days at a hospital recovering from losing over 12 kilos on the journey, I had the most memorable experience of my life. Met some amazing people on the way, some in Punjab who took me to their home and offered me lassi, to the couple of army fellows who offered me free lodging in Leh for a couple of days just because they saw my number plate which belonged to their state.
It removed my inhibitions and fear of traveling alone. It's a beautiful world out there, and some really amazing and helpful people you'll meet along the way.
Traveling alone is a way to know your own self in ways you never imagined.
After this I've traveled 6 more times to the Himalayas

Why do people with depression push others away?
Paradoxically, when we’re depressed we reject what we need most of all – social support. Understanding the underlying mechanisms of this paradox is key to being able to help.
Here are 3 important insights into why depressed people push others away:
1. The Depression Cycle. What motivates you to spend time with others? Probably the expectation of sharing joy, connection and love. When depressed, those experiences fade away, while lethargy, shame and hopelessness take their place.
Normally, we do fun things because we feel like doing them. But with depression, the motivation to socialise is no longer present. So, we stop taking initiative. And we miss out on everyday positive experiences, which further increases the depressive symptoms. This phenomenon is called The Depression Cycle.
The only way to break the negative cycle is to reverse it. To start engaging in social activities, one small step at a time.
But it’s not going to feel pleasant. Not at first. It may even be deeply unpleasant.
It takes time for pleasure, curiosity and joy to sprout again. So, give it time. Don’t expect a depressed person to recover in a week. The best things to offer are patience and support.

2. Cognitive distortions. Depression alters brain function and thought patterns. As depression enters our lives, we become increasingly inclined to view neutral situations in a negative light – a phenomenon called cognitive distortions.
For example, if you need to change or cancel dinner plans with a depressed person, they may immediately assume it’s because you don’t enjoy spending time with them. And they are less likely to reach out to you in the future.
Sometimes, a depressed person will reject your help because accepting help makes them feel like a failure. They may experience your offer to support them as intrusive or condescending because their negative mindset convinces them that they are beyond help.
So, it’s important to communicate your intentions as clearly as possible to avoid misunderstandings.

3. Critical thoughts. Depression can be experienced as a chamber of torture where our own critical thoughts are the most gruesome weapons. And depression makes us feel as if these thoughts are inescapably true.
The following are common examples of depressive thoughts which could make anyone avoid social contact:
“I don’t deserve company.”
“I don’t deserve to be loved.”
“If I spend time with others, they will discover how defective I really am.”
“Everyone will have a better time without me.”
“They deserve much better company than me.”
“I know they’re just pretending to like me.”
“I have nothing to say.”
“I don’t have the energy to pretend like everything is normal.”
With this in mind, perhaps it’s not so strange that depression makes us push others away?
Understanding the mechanisms of depression is a step towards giving and accepting support. And please, be hopeful. There are a few things you can do to help even when your help is rejected.

Why do people travel? Is traveling really all about sightseeing or is there much more to it than that?
I quit my job in L&T and rejoined after a gap of two years. A common question posed to me was ‘What did you do during your sabbatical?’ My answer, “I traversed the 29 states of India” baffles everyone and evokes either astonishment or awe or a combination of both and triggers multiple questions starting with What, Why, Where, How…. Had I completed my Masters instead of travelling, it would have been easier for them to understand and accept.
History too is replete with instances of people who travelled. On returning from South Africa, Gandhiji chose to travel the length and breadth of India for a year before actively plunging into the freedom struggle. Similarly Lord Rama, Lord Buddha would not have received enlightenment if they had not ventured out of their palaces. So, traveling is not only fun, adventure, relaxation but a learning too.
My decision to quit and travel was based on the belief that I would learn better through travelling than sitting in a class room and learning from books. When travelling, every day is a challenge since it involves adapting to new places, people, cultures and environments. I learnt to be flexible and open to changes. It involved planning, negotiating and finding ways to control expenses which taught me firsthand to manage within the allocated budget and achieve my travel goals, which incidentally is also the essence of managing the profitability of any business project.
Organizations spreading their market base across international markets to withstand global economy changes has resulted in a multicultural work environment. Having many foreign backpackers as my travel partners, gave me a much better insight into their lifestyle, culture and habits than when I was interacting with them as clients in my earlier role in international sales. These minor details will now help me in developing a better rapport with customers, which is very important in today’s business.
Most of us are afraid of risks or not strong enough to face the consequences when it comes decision making. It’s been said that fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. I had to decide for myself since I was on my own. Even if my decision wasn’t the right one, it made me strong enough to learn from my mistakes and move forward rather than being afraid of taking decisions.
When traveling, in addition to savouring the beautiful landscapes and stunning architecture, it is the people you meet on the road that touch your heart and change your approach towards life. When I almost lost my way in Srinagar, a Kashmiri woman guided me to the Shahi Hamdan Mosque. When we got into the bus she insisted on paying for my ticket saying “I have daughters but not a son. Please let me treat you as my son and pay for this ticket.” Another time, when I was in Tashiding - Sikkim, a local woman running a small tea shop refused to take any money for the tea saying, “When I came to Tamil Nadu for my eye operation in CMC Vellore, Tamil people were so kind to me and to my family. It’s the least I can do for you.”
I think the time has come to view travelling as a learning option for career building and enhancing one’s abilities. Though it may be tougher than college life, I can vouch that it is an experience you will love since it is full of fun and adventure. Just remember the words of J.R.R Tolkien, “Not all those who wander are lost”

Most humans crave routine. It keeps us efficient, organized and ultimately comfortable.
Too much routine for too long makes us numb. It’s hard to notice things you see every day, hard to challenge yourself with all the things you do over and over.
When everything is on automatic a part of your brain switches off.
Breaking the routine – making yourself uncomfortable – is key to learning, to feeling more alive, and to being receptive. It wakes you up.
It changes you.
This means trying out new things. It means doing things you might not be good at. It means playing with being incompetent, setting your ego aside to let the world in.
Travel is a good way to make all this happen. You are in an unfamiliar place, where everything – your surroundings, the language, the food, the time of day – is different.
You become more receptive.
It changes your vantage point, in effect forcing you to see things from a new perspective. You begin to understand things more clearly and maybe change your point of view.
You renew your life force through increased curiosity. You invite serendipity.
What you are experiencing is so revitalizing that you make it easier to live in the present and leave the future for later, where it belongs.
Discomfort. Being off balance. Experimenting. Experiencing awe.
Lose yourself to find yourself.
