Never before in human history have we been richer, more advanced or powerful. And yet we feel overwhelmed in the face of rapid climate change. It seems simple on the surface. Greenhouse gases trap energy from the Sun and transfer it to our atmosphere. This leads to warmer winters, harsher summers. Dry places become drier and wet places wetter. Countless ecosystems will die while the rising oceans swallow coasts and the cities we build on them.
So why don’t we just like… prevent all of that? Well, it’s complicated.

Remember: electric cars aren't here to save the planet, they're here to save the car industry

DAnuchan
But electric cars allow people to enjoy the lifestyle they have come to expect while still cutting down on harmful emissions. It's actually a win win, but it's not the total solution.

@DAnuchan yeah, that's the problem.Where exactly do you think the electricity for these cars will come from?

@DAnuchan making batteries for electric cars causes a lot more pollution than you think, it literally makes no real difference.

@Theironminer2721 it's common knowledge, there is a lot of pollution when mining for raw materials in third world countries.

@AngryAssyrian No. Just not true

AngryAssyrian
@Theironminer2721 lmao alright, but it's the truth whether you like it or not.

Theironminer2721
If a gas car drives 200,000 miles in its lifetime, it will emmit 65 tonnes of CO2.
But electric cars produce just under 20 tonnes of co2 per unit.
And thats assuming you stop right after 200,000 miles. Get the batteries replaced and that would be only 5 tonnes of co2 for ANOTHER 200,000 miles.

Krabby !
For peeople saying creating batterys or creating electricity is bad for the environment act like oil industry is harmless to the planet.

PoliShane
@Krabby ! yeah, they both produce a shit ton of pollution. This isn't anti electric cars, this is anti cars in general

But at least it will solve partly problems.

4:32 that also reminds me of the single use plastic debate: a lot of people and policy actors argue for phasing out single use plastics; but a problem is that a lot of single use plastics are either industrial or medical. The medical field needs single use plastics; they’re sterile and in multitudes, which is helpful for the medical fields.

This is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed

For as long as I remember, climate change—specifically, global warming—has been an everlastingly relevant topic in our everyday lives. As everyone was talking about an upcoming catastrophe for the human population, I was having anxiety spikes contemplating the ways I, an individual, can help save the planet from global warming. After watching this video, I came to the striking realization that, unfortunately, big companies and governments all over the world have a much larger influence on this matter in contrast to average citizens. The most important thing in my power to do is voting for politicians actively advocating for fighting against climate change, as well as reforms and legislations benefitting the environment. Only by electing competent officials can an ordinary member of a society fight against a global issue like climate change.

In other words, we're hopeless. In order to save the world, it must be changed swiftly and entirely. But because we fear and hate change with a passion, the people who could change the world are never elected, and people who say they will change things usually never do.
Everything must change, but nothing ever does.

here in sabah, Malaysia, our main capital (Kota Kinabalu) is not a city, but rather a "forest-city" where trees and vegetation are cover a lot of the ground unlike Kuala Lumpur, this is because our city wanted to regulate the climate as well as the environment so our oxygen here is always fresh no matter the amount of cars on the road that day.

The problem is worse than I thought because climate change turns out to be just a part of the overall equation - and that resources depletion and environmental exhaustion - and eventual collapse - is closer than I had thought.

The saying in my country and also my saying is if climate changes will destroy the world tomorrow the i hope it destroys the world today fuck climate change
The scary truth is that climate change isn't that big of a deal in developing country i am resident of a developing country and my people or me just don't give a fuck about climate but our government gives some fucks not a lot but some for sure that too only be able to trade in your devloped economies of west and in Western economies as the people in west are privileged and don't worry about basic things and so climate is a big problem for them as they have solved all the major or basic problems and honestly they have no idea about these basic problems and so focus more on these less important problems like climate as they don't have lot of problems so when you ask developing countries to devlope sustainably without the west funding and helping us we our governments will just do the bare minimum and some governments will not even do that

This is probably the BEST video about climate change and carbon emission, not only in the channel, but in the entire internet. I have to admit, the last time you guys talk about climate change you didin't touch the topic of the "carbon footprint TM" and I admit I was kind of pissed about. All the propaganda (because it was) about the topic in 2019-2022 focused on how the change was responsibility of the individual and honestly, I was tired of it, unable to bring myself to the idea that somehow we as individuals had that ammount of power in the matter and angry about the tale that developed countries had about the issue.
Why we, a developing country in the prime, should worry to fix a problem the great powers are telling us to do, when the enriched themselves by the same behavior they are telling us to stop? F*** Thunsberg! we are dying from starvation! we have no time for your 1st world problems!... that was my entire opinion. we never had seen an Electric vehicle in our entire lives, because nobody here has the money to buy it.
Now I see with more clarity, and this video made me realize, OK, maybe I can contribute, not because its somehow my responsibility but because I can actually do a little part, and that could be enough.
