I knew people in the construction industry. I met architects, steel workers, and builders of every kind. They all knew this one business that screwed them over every chance it had. It short-changed them. It broke contracts, and had a team of lawyers ready to counter-sue anyone who tried to collect their money. No one in the construction business ever worked with that company again. Whose name was on the stationery? Trump.

I went to a post-production studio for a while. I worked with very talented editors, producers, and broadcast techs. Every person, to a man, said they only had this job for a while until they could find something else. The conditions they worked in were appalling. There were quarter-million dollar editing workstations on sawhorses and plywood. The staff sat on the shittiest office chair, and some on barstools. It looked like the CEO took better care of the hardware than the people operating them. That studio is at the top of a certain notorious pink and gold escalator at 725 Fifth Avenue. Okay, stiffing employees and small business contractors, to the point of putting many of them out of business, of not letting black people apply to live in his buildings, and of scamming students out of tens of thousands of dollars each. I don’t think I’m being too harsh here by saying… That’s not something a good guy would do.
But that’s just business, maybe he’s a good guy elsewhere. Maybe he’s a real sweetheart to his wives?

In his marriages he’s not only cheated on multiple wives, but he’s publicly humiliated them. It wasn’t enough to cheat, he also had to badmouth them to newspapers. He complained about his wife’s body post-pregnancy, got her to get breast implants, then complained to newspapers that they just weren’t the same. His first wife Ivana Trump then got the pleasure of reading Trump’s mistress quoted in front page headlines, bragging about sex with her husband. That’s the short version of the story about how he treats the mothers of his children. Then yada yada yada, you know the rest… he leaves first wife for mistress, then marries mistress, then leaves second wife for next mistress, marries her, and now she’s first lady. There’s more sensational stuff (accused of marital rape in sworn testimony)
So yeah, cheated on multiple wives, criticized them sexually in newspapers…For me… That’s not something a good guy would do. But maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know, what do you think? I mean, let’s say he got another divorce and was on the market again, would you recommend someone like that to one of your friends?

But I suppose lots of men cheat on their wives and do terrible things in the name of business. There are other things, right? Well, yes. I mean he lies constantly, but everyone lies a little. Ok, this is getting long so let’s just do the Cliff Notes version…he assaults women (but only 15 of them), insults employees, parents and wives of political rivals, publicly fat shames his own allies, criticizes parents of fallen soldiers, and has even threatened to kill innocent children, though we hope he wasn’t serious about that last one. Time will tell.
I’m still not sure if I’m ready to call him a bad guy. So far, it’s really close. We all know I’ve left things out, but is there anything you might not know that’s worth mentioning? Oh right, his family alleged he tricked his sick father into cutting them out of the will, and then when they sued him, he retaliated by cutting off medical care to his infant nephew, who was suffering from seizures and cerebral palsy. Ok, I’m ready to say it. Donald Trump is a bad guy. I would have a hard time considering anyone who did even one of these things to be a good guy, but all of them?! Seriously How is this even a question? So yeah, that’s why I think “he’s a bad guy.” He’s actually a really despicable human being.

I am a photographer and I did his portrait in his office once. He was OK, but he told stories about how he had screwed a Saudi prince out of a million dollars on an apartment deal because he couldn’t come up with the balance and had to forfeit his downpayment. To me that is not earning money fairly and certainly not something to gloat about. At least not for an ethical human being to take pleasure in. I disliked him from that moment on.

After what has been termed as a ‘shambolic’ response to the pandemic where he totally lost interest after he couldn’t solve it in a couple of weeks with the bully pulpit saying it was a hoax. When it wasn’t, he just chose to ignore it.
After bluster and noise and failure after failure with China;
Make America racist again and foment a Civil War in the process.

From outside your borders it is obvious that your election was interfered with but the result stands. Your policies have changed towards previous friends and previous enemies. I thought to myself, “Dear God! This is how the rest of the world sees us. The world's greatest superpower and we have a circus clown for a president.”
