Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, was stabbed 22 times in the law library at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, AZ, with an improvised knife, federal prosecutors said.
52-year-old John Turscak was charged with attempted murder in the prison stabbing. He later told FBI agents that he’d been thinking about assaulting Chauvin for about a month because he is a high-profile inmate but denied wanting to kill him, prosecutors said.

@nenaaa1444
This happens in our prison systems everyday and even worse than this.

@williamoverton7775
maybe the guy that did this is confused about how his guards will react after the shows over. or police in general. just saying he attacked an innocent man that was used as a pariah by the police.

@cosmicpsyops4529
Guards don't run the federal prisons. You obviously don't appreciate how underpowered the "guards" are and you don't have to get along with federal inmates who are doing life sentences anyway.

@kimpeterson8090
And when the word comes down from the higher ups you get it to happen!

Yup. They let that happen for sure. Maybe even set it up.

I would have thought that an ex-police officer would be segregated from the general population.

@PSWwebmaster
He can be put into protective custody but being locked in a cell for 23 hours a day sucks.

@poorthing
@PSWwebmaster it was his choice, he was moved to a different facility- again by his request- to facilitate an earlier release, the details can be found online. He took a risk & it almost got him killed.

@PSWwebmaster
@poorthing makes no difference, the prison officials have a responsibility to protect him from harm.

@phantom0313

@Facebook-sb3eo
The prison doesn't have money for a cop who killed someone.

@geoh7777
@PSWwebmaster He could have been put in with elder and disabled prisoners. He could be a paid (although poorly) health aide.

@davidgoosen1633
? @PSWwebmaster yeah well that ain't how the real world works, and that's just your opinion

@DefundTheMasons
@PSWwebmaster Um, he is being "punished" ...

@geoh7777
Back then with Floyd, Chauvin was an idiot for not making sure that a call for an ambulance had been made, then standing up and telling the other two cops who were there with Floyd (but out of sight of most photos or videos of the incident) that he was leaving and then departed.

@tonictee
@geoh7777 damn you people are really ignorant or just plain lying. they did call an ambulance seconds after.

That's like saying child molesters and gay dudes should get put elsewhere for being what they are, cop or not who cares you get the same treatment as everyone else they are not special even though court and everyone act like they are

@slevenkelevra3813

@slevenkelevra3813
@poorthing Agreed. He should have never had the option/privilege to go anywhere, thus being treated as everyone else, because no one else would have been granted permission.
Cops in prison no matter what nationality they are may someday run into a relative, friend or just some inmate who simply hates ex cops. So there's always a potential target on their backs.
His ex cop privilege in this case almost got him killed.

Someone in the government needs to go to jail for not being able to protect inmates. US prisons are a beastly affair with violence the norm, but surely the people running the place have to be held accountable for safety of the inmates.

@SnailMan63
What do you think the solution would be? I imagine it’s pretty hard to keep convicted murderers and gang members at bay. We could probably look to other countries with less violent prisons for some ideas

@lordarvicinus9682
@SnailMan63 Norway runs prisons well from what I know. Americans treat prisoners like subhuman beasts. For a country founded on Christian values, there’s a whole lot of stone throwing around; it’s absolutely disgusting. But while the US prison population is so high, I fear it is virtually impossible to make US prisons significantly more humane, at least not without a significant cultural change in criminal communities… that’s still no excuse for allowing rape and beatings to happen under government supervision though. Slavery persists in the twisted Hammurabian pursuit of retributive justice

@thrshwll1526
He didn't deserve protection. There are plenty of people hurt in prison every day. No sympathy for them? Can't believe anybody cares about him

@pringals420
Your really worried about this man?

@ausgang9495
@pringals420 not this man in particular, but of the rotten state of affairs in prison for everyone.

@ausgang9495
@SnailMan63 I am no expert here,but like you am comparing with other developed countries that have a far more civilized system. I think though that one of the biggest factors is the privatization of the prison system, which creates a perverse profit incentive to imprison more people, make money out of bail bonds, selling cigarettes, poor infrastructure (as good infrastructure costs money). I think a comparison across countries would show that others don't privatize prisons.

@MuffinRaider
Prison isn’t meant to be fun. don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time??

@darkelfdrizzt1319
Maybe Derrick shouldn't have have so racist and so evil. Maybe if he never killed an innocent man you wouldn't care about violence in prison

@imo5294
I saw an article that claims Chauvin was indeed trained to use the move he used on Floyd. It also went on to state (I think) that Floyd, the year before, resisted the same way. And why would a former cop with this type of conviction be put in general public. Who wouldn't see this coming?

@jackel99
why should a convicted murderer be given special treatment in the pen?

@bjodaddyo
Do you think he deserves a special privilege?

@maryjeannechessrown9920
AUTOPSY SAYS FLOYD DIED FROM OVERDOSE!!

@1337penguinman
@jackel99 Because of reasons like this. Due to the high profile nature of his crime and the fact he's a former cop it puts a target on his back.

@Gandalfthegrey-dv6jh
I used to be a correctional officer, and cops, former cops, and family members of cops actually DO get special inmate classifcation and designated into their own sections.
They don't get put in general population.
Same thing with LGBT inmates, suicidal inmates, child sex crime inmates, etc etc.
I don't understand how this guy was with other regular inmates.

And the chief says they did not get training using the knee on the neck. The chief line about the training. It was in the training book.

@richardclifford003
Yes. I saw the COP's testimony and he perjured himself. Worse yet, the judge would not allow the training manual in as evidence. I can't understand why that, alone, is not grounds for reversal.

@repeatdefender6032
The problem was he held Floyd in that hold for an extended period of time. That's not what you're intended to do. Nowhere it says 'kneel on his neck until he expires', any reasonable person would understand that there is a limit to how you use force as a police officer.

Pretty common stab count in prison. The weapons they have are often very short so it takes a lot to actually kill someone with it.

@elisaangel1859
my question is that if they are training cops to hold people down like this maybe it shouldnt be the cops fault maybe the training department that trained this cop..but big people they should know most always have a difficult time breathing..so all cops and guards should be aware and not use such fource unless they have a gun or and knife.

@HoldenNY22
It ahs come out now that the Medical Examiner determined that George Floyd died from a Drug Overdose, not from Chauvin putting his leg on Floyd's neck. The Medical Examiner felt to save his Career and prevent more rioting in Minneapolis- he had to say that Floyd died from asphyxiation, rather than a drug Overdose. Megan Kelly did an excellent show on this featuring DocumentarhFilmmakers who did a Film- The Fall of Miinneapolis which takes a "Revisionist ", but Truthful look at the Derek Chauvn/George Floyd case. Tucker Carlson has also covered this on his show on Twitter as well as others.
Derek Chauvin is a Political Prisoner just as much as Julian Assaunge. He is being scapegoated for Racial and other Political Reasons.
