While speaking to media, the survivor said, "Those who committed the crime are liable to be blamed but not the common Indian, who otherwise, remained courteous and cordial to us all through our journey in this country, so far. In the last six months, we have travelled to different parts of India and we came across many good people."
The couple also took selfies with officials in Dumka and appreciated the govt for handling the situation swiftly.

Also, whenever things like this happen there, some Indians try to water it down by saying how some other countries are worse by comparison as I've seen so far on social media. Even Pakistan these days is far safer for tourist than India. As far as I know, that couple travelled Pakistan as well but nothing like this was ever heard of. When we do not advise or allow the female members of our family itself to go out at late night or in shady places , there is no way we can ensure the safety of women tourists over there. Unless there is a strict punishment law against the rapists , this system will have the status quo. No doubt why women are told to be vigilant before coming here.

no right words can convey the amount of hatred and disgust thats rushing through my veins right now. this is utterly terrifying. poor girl must be traumatised. i can only imagine what she went through at that moment.. and only thinking about it makes my heart heavy. the fact we dont even know how many others are suffering the same way is really, truly sad.

I'm glad that they took swift action with her case (especially given that a lot of other victims do not receive justice), but to be honest, that monetary compensation is nothing. That trauma will overshadow her for the rest of her life.

As Indian, I am really ashamed for this incident and I hope couple would be able to recover from this incident. They must have come with so much expectations but ended up having bad memory. People like those men ruins the image of the country. But i also request foreign tourists to avoid dark and lonely places at night in India whether it's a city or rural area.
