@Chinix
I don't think anyone in Singapore is complaining about this. It's the neighbours that are unhappy lol.

@lxy315lxy
Those religious conservatives that aren't a fan of Taylor are the one complaining

@sathya7951
@lxy315lxy yup cause it will be impossible from taylor swift to perform in a country like Malaysia anyway because of its extremist opposition party and its group of insane supporters

@Fiona20238
She always have a stop here as her first choice, wonder why the rest are complaining. They were quiet when her earlier concerts can't sell out in Asia. They are jealous and nothing else now.

@AceAng-db3hz
With the high popularity of TS can you imagine how would her millions n millions of fans see SG after this concert? With that being said we can now announce to the world that we SG are ready for mega events that is capable of accommodating 60,000 spectators. Not forgetting the smooth infrastructure from our public transport to our airport. What a better way to do publicity? To me even if the so called rebate was $55million in total is still a darn good business! Look and think far, if our gov has shallow minds like some that commented we SG would have long lost our edge in this world

@lxy315lxy
Then why we aren't bidding to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games? It will bring more economical benefits than concerts

@AceAng-db3hz
@lxy315lxy from what I know it will cost over billion to host. N as nation host and not getting many results on the tally table could be the reason? So the economic factors might not be better than concerts. To add, paying millions are already causing a “why paying rebates and not hearing voices of SG people” can u imagine if we were to spend billions?

@brianlee3508
Terms of contract are signed in confidentially. Paying for exclusive rights are part of commercial deals. Who leaked the information to Thai PM? His allegations and timing of the his allegation has triggered name call from Philippines lawmaker calling us as "... not good neighbors." Grant is part of covid revival fund for the tourism sector. As recent, City of Perth has paid Coldplay for performing in their city, Hong Kong has paid grant for Messi exhibition match. If the terms and offers for exclusivity are unacceptable, AEG can walk away from the deal anytime. Its not just throwing huge sum money at the organizers like Thai PM has implied. Beside the grants, SG offers performers and their fans, infrastructure, security and crowd control, efficient transportation and connectivity direct flight and even better urban air quality (Not during the Haze season).

@cmwchay
It won’t be a secret forever anyway. I see it was leaked at a good timing. The whole world is watching Singapore host a successful major music event.

@brianlee3508
@leealex24 unethical? U meant the Thai PM making allgations? Which unethical country? You think doing humanitarian or charity meh? In business deals, paying for exclusivity is not unethical.

@brianlee3508
@leealex24 then what are you ranting about? Sure you can label the entire country as unethical. Its a commercial deal. So you are high on moral ground.LoL. your argument and justication are incoherent as best.

@brianlee3508
@leealex24 AGE can choose not to sign the deal since regional countries are more than happy to host. How is it an interference into another country? LOL. They were too late into the game. Who to blame then? SG swas the potential and already actively pursued the deal even before swiftonomic was coined.

@leealex24
 @brianlee3508 Your commercial deal only applies exclusively to SG jurisdiction that means SG govt can pay even TS $1bn to perform 100 concerts in SG only, and it's none of other countries business. That's your right.
Likewise, any foreign countries have the right to offer their city/country as well independent of your SG concerts, and no stupid clause can obstruct that, you got that? Basic territorial/sovereign law don't understand? Are you all such unethical and dirty country now? Next time, ASEAN (650mil people and US$4tn GDP) ex SG can interfere on SG issues and we call it a business deal? Grow up, your country, I hope not the whole country so sick

@brianlee3508
Using The Taxpayers Money in this Economic Climate.
Not A Smart Move...these are kids not multimillionaire spending on concert.
They will not SPEND or BE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS to the Economy.
Singapore just too Expensive.
They already spent on tickets n travel.
Even buses are provided for their travel needs.
It is so Easy for Ministers in Government when it come to Wastage Spending of Tax Dollars especially for Foreigners.
The question is with such A Bold Move...WHO ELSE ARE GETTING A CUT OF THAT PIE???

@user-ry1bk8wu8q
@brianlee3508
Many Taylor FANS...the die hard ones ARE ABLE TO AFFORD IT...if Singapore could just take up 3 slots n allocate the rest to Thailand Indonesia n Malaysia.
All their Cities will also benefit n we as A Tiny City State will not be seen as A Selfish Greedy B*astard.

@dixievine9381
To put it simply, that's how some of us managed to keep our jobs.. I might not benefit as an individual but its interesting to see the increased number of tourists shopping esp in town

@cktlsl

@cktlsl
if you happen to walk around those frog porridge and eatery around Geylang after the concert, you can see almost all of them are full, some of them even have long queue of swifties waiting for tables

@blueberrylatte3097
Do not confuse a one-off surge in business as benefitting the locals in the long -run. There is nothing to help cope with the rising cost of living in Singapore. Not even Taylor Swift is relevant to the locals especially the Senior Citizens who are struggling with rising costs in the "most expensive city in the world". How did that benefit the commoners except the coffers of the Government.

@autumntriesthings
Imagine paying $3 million per night but you get hundreds of millions in return. That’s excellent ROI

@blueberrylatte3097
Imagine the rising cost of living for kopi to rise from $1.20 to $2.40; imagine the cost of electricity bill and water bill going up; imagine GST went up to 9%; imagine property tax going up; imagine interest rate on CPF cut; Imagine cost of HDB flats went past the $1M mark; I can't imagine where the alleged ROI of hundreds of millions went to. Whose Pockets?

@AceAng-db3hz
Imagine if we follow some jokers idea of opening up our reserves and used that amount for TS rebate n give it to us. What good can that make? Yes each of us could be $100 richer, which some will use it in JB, what good is that for the future of SG…. Your limitation is only your imagination

@AceAng-db3hz
@blueberrylatte3097 Imagine if we only focused on SG internal problems and stop progressing, yes maybe everything will be at a standstill but what good can that bring for the future? We loses our competitive edge and people stop investing into SG, yes by that time we might have a lower level of living but what’s next? Is not as if we have natural resources like our neighbours to rely on…. Imagine that

@ciarankelly4338
Singapore is very focused on its Tourism business such as F1 and this is just another event ! I am sure the organizers look for key things like good infrastructure,safety,security etc to make a successful event and Singapore offers this in abundance versus most other Asian countries and I used to live there and experienced this also. Well done Singapore!

@tanteckleng3665
What is Taylor Swift's net worth in 2024?
According to a report from Bloomberg News,
Taylor Swift has entered her billionaire era with an estimated net worth of roughly $1.1 billion.

@ymca225
I admire the move but 1 thing to point out, why is the estimated GDP increase (US$225 to US$300 mil) much lower compared to Japan and Australia? If we base it per night, those countries have gained way more than us (possibly up to 30% or more).

@hiroyukishinichi9873
These neighbouring noises are not even aware what they are being bitter about. Here is the true story (once they are aware, I am sure they will think otherwise, if there is a shred of shame hehez):
THEY THINK: Malaysia/ Philippines/ Thailand WAS in the conversation and negotiating with Taylor Swift, but Singapore swooped in and have her for themselves. So they think that is unfair?
O please, clear this up once and for all....
THE REAL STORY: Singapore was the only one negotiating with Taylor Swift EVEN BEFORE her international dates were planned. Malaysia/ Thailand/ Philippines was NEVER in the conversation at all. It was ONLY UNTIL Singapore announced the event and ticket sales opened, THEY TRIED to LEECH on Singapore and asked Taylor Swift "Can you also come over?" then FAILED due to the exclusivity clause. THAT is what they are being bitter about.

@hgyag5366
Taylor Swift has created a Tsunami within ASEAN. It is test of trust and friendship alliance.
After the concert, videos clips have surfaced mentioning that our infrastructure has greatly proven that we excel among our ASEAN neighbours.
Many Singaporean have supported the Singapore govt approach in exclusive deal
It was reported that it brought an estimated amount $500 million to Singapore economy.
Shouldn't we make a wax figure of Taylor Swift for her contribution in her own way in Singapore economic growth and allowing her to leave a mark in Singapore economic history.
In addition, more profits can be generated by suing AEG for disclosure
Risk and Opportunity coexist.

@klennairew5629
Indonesia is keen to team up with Singapore on attracting big-ticket concerts to its shores. PM Lee must welcome the idea since it's mutually beneficial to both countries.

@yl1603
Just wanna ask: did they get the consent from tax payers before they sealed the deal? At least they should disclose the P/L to justify their decision, not simply claimed ROI was pretty high...

@glencorajane
Do the government hv to ask your permission to change a traffic light or revamp the zoo, bird park etc? Please, it was part of the tourism budget

@seagull9889

They will get a thousand and one kind of voices if they asked. Who then must they listen to? By the time they get a consensus, the opportunity may be gone......

@anziar3038
Fantastic! This is another great accomplishment by the PAP govt. S'poreans acknowledge that PAP is the only competent and effective party in s'pore.❤❤

@fba90130
Well if this project is accepted as a Singapore success by the population and the opposition plays a different tune then they will be punished at the ballot box.

To think I was silly like this when I was young adult. But thankfully never wasted my money when MJ came to National Stadium. Well almost did actually, didn't get the tickets....

@Simon4rings
All her fans were treated to a possibly once-in-lifetime world class experience that they will remember for a long time. That's what is the most important actually. Why bother about useless politicians and non-fans who are complaining.
