Who will win if there is a war between India and Russia?
India and Russia are political allies, there is a negligible chance of war between both. But if it happens, Russia will defeat India and one & only factor that counts in this war would be "Technology".
From Fighter planes Sukhoi's to 5th generation T-50 aka Sukhoi-50, Aircraft carrier's to nuclear submarine's, Ballistic Bramhos, Anti missile security weapons & some other important technology exchanges, India largely depends upon Russia for weapons.
But in other hand, India's economy growing fast so it will give boost to some indian companies who want to play for the nation. Many indigenous projects are lined up and in next 15 years, with current growth rate & will power of government, it will become self-dependent. While on other side, Russia is going through economic slow down & population issues, that will affect him very bad in next 10 years.
One more fact that counts here is UN, but burocracy plays a vital role here. If China or USA supports India, it will be a 50-50 game.
India and Russia shares no conflict of interest anywhere. India & Russia shares a great bond of friendship and 1971 India- Pakistan war was the proof. Both countries setting the target for 30 billion US$ bilateral trade by 2025. In order to facilitate this target both countries are looking to develop a free trade agreement. So in current scenario, it is impossible that these two countries go into war.

Could Russia win a war against India?
Russia does not share any land border with India. Whenever any country does not share any land border with the other country it is almost an impossible task to win any war.
Therefore, in order to go to war with India, Russia has to cross China or ally with China first.
All said and done the Russian communist regime considers themselves superior to the Chinese communist regime though Russia is not a very big economic power.
Therefore, such allignment is next to impossible owing to ego issues.
More interestingly, India has a joint defence initiative with Russia on many modern war technologies including the fifth generation fighter jets and the game changer missile Brahmos version 2 (with a range of 600 km).

Guessing this is a hypothetical question -
Not yet, but 10 years down the line the Indian armed forces would be more comparable to Russia’s in terms of capabilities.
Lets look at today’s scenario. Russia is already a smaller Economy than India and as of 2016, their Defence budget has also fallen below India’s. This makes it hard for them to maintain the existing military and slows down the modernization process. While India is increasing its defence spending significantly every year, with its rise in economy.
Lets take the example of the Navies for instance. Russia has one relatively old Carrier which is known to break down often. Russia hasnt constructed any new Destroyer since break up of USSR.
However India is making a new, much more advanced Carrier, and churning out advanced Destroyers every other year
Though Russia’s Defence sector is very capable, Russia does not have the money to make use of that and expand its military.
The rate of modernization of India’s Airforce and Ground forces are much higher as well. As of 2025 , India’s Defence budget would be over 80 Bil$ in nominal terms .

Depends. If no other country were to interfere then Russia would surely win. But that is highly unlikely. A Russia India war would almost definitely lead to a world war. In this case predicting the outcome is difficult.
But first of all, Russia and India are strong allies, so for the time being we can rule out a war between them.
Russia is militarily much superior to India but in the case of it attacking India, which is next to impossible, there are high chances of the US joining it on India's side. This may also prompt China and Pakistan to join and soon it may turn into a full fledged world war.

Both Russia and India uses same weapons like tanks, guns, frigates and now submarines. I think the war will be fought in the sea and both know each others equipment. So that side will win which uses better tactics. Indian Navy has more experience like in 71 war. But the Russian Navy is in a bad condition. You must have read the news of the accidents of aircrafts from their aircraft carrier deployed in Syria.
So I think India navy will win.

Who will win if there is a war between India and Russia?
Ask a child from both countries, even they know the answer to this question. In near future India is no condition to win war against Russia or USA, can’t say about China as both countries have almost equal capabilities. Even though by the pace India economy and military power is increasing it might be possible that India will be a dominant country in Asia by 2050. Technologically Russia is ahead of India and also with much higher number of nuclear warheads they can end war within some hours, but to know as India also have the nuclear weapons which are capable of hitting the major cities of Russia, nuclear war might not take place. Other than that world know the relation that Russia and India enjoy between themselves. People of both the countries are also very well connected to each other countries. So, there is no chance that Russia or India will ever go on any war with each other.

I believe that in modern warfare no country fights alone ,not even usa can dare in the modern world to fight alone NATO is a big example of that .If hypothetically Russia and India went for a war india can can have lot of weaknesses as its aircrafts and weapons are mostly russian made .But here is a twist against Russia india may get help of israel ,I don't trust USA but Israel will surely be supporting india .We can outnumber them in terms of number but yes then we have to also take care of china and Pakistan .
We should also keep in mind that if someone attacks you then offence is the best defence as in the past Vietnam bashed usa . Japan invaded china in past . Small nations had already done it in the past so now it's indian era .

Russia and India are close allies so war is as likely as war between Britain and America. Unlikely! However, in this hypothetical war …. Russia would win. Most of the advanced Indian military equipment is Russian equipment.
