��i am a german engineer, driving the su7 max for several months here in china now! really happy to see the result in this video. i love it and i dont wanna drive my others cars anymore.
btw some things wanna add to the video:
- i am seeing 315kw+ regularly in my charging sessions up to around 60% where it slowly goes to 200kw until 80% where the curve steps down to 120kw and sticks to around 80kw to almost full depending on weather and battery temps (battery will precondition itself if you set navi to a fast charger, not sure how that will work in USA for now)
- power peaks i see in normal sport mode is 750HP and not the advertised 675HP while i think its around 800hp peak under launch mode.
- 47:55min EMERGENCY BRAKING can be dialed down or turned off. mine does NOT do freak out when accelerating behind another car. every driving/safety function can be changed to your need.
- 49:30min yes of course you can turn the voice off! i dont know why ben said its always on. just scroll the volume wheel down when she talks and voice is silent.
- to launch you dont need turn on BOOST. just be in sport mode - brake and throttle, it will enable launch mode itself with the blue dot on screen. BOOST button is there when you are in comfort or any other slower cruising mode and need a quick overtake. i use this button every day and its so much more convenient than switching modes each time first.
- max power for slow charging is 11kw - enough to charge it from 10% to 90% in 1 night (not 21kw as you said kyle. and yeeeah i know i also hoped it would be 21kw)
- dothefiveCHANGE SU7 TO ENGLISHdothefive: go you your options tab. scroll all the way down to SYSTEM (you see the big HYPER OS logo on the right side.
-click the THIRD text from the top
-in the next menu click THIRD text from the top again, you see a very long number in the middle with text and date at the end.
-use 2 fingers and quickly tap that number about 10 to 15 times. after a short delay the car will change to english language if you are in firmware 1.4.0 or higher.

Why does the USA focus so much on China subsidizing their auto industry when US Congress has given billions to GM and others. Maybe we should focus on the auto industry debt. How much debt are the China auto car manufactures carry vs USA auto industry?

If the US Government were really honest about subsidies and picking and choosing Winners and losers in business all subsidies to Oil Industry would be pulled. Direct subsidies for drilling, exclusive low dollar lease deals, tax breaks no other industry gets, and direct US Taxpayer-funded US Military escorts for shipping just to keep gas prices artificially low. If all these subsidies went away gasoline would be over $12/gallon. Perhaps much higher.

Because in the US the government is not an owner of the organization like in china. With that comes being able to leverage transportation and manufacturing. It also makes it super easy to make these things cheap when you have foreign manufacturers surrendering their ip’s to the CCP just to do business in that country.

Telsa is always improving their models. They don't wait for model year upxes like legacy.
For example, my 2024 MY is a better quality car than my 2023. And the 24 is significantly better than my old 2021.

@shaggydogsales That is fine, but Tesla is not iterating even close to what we are seeing in China. That was/is the point of my post. Tesla is slowing down and it is obvious. We are seeing these Chinese brands turning on a dime. It really is mind boggling. If you are not following some of these people in China and Korea I strongly suggest everyone tune in and be amazed. Then realize Tesla is not keeping up now.

An awkward situation occurs with subsidies, another country’s money, aka subsidies you, getting a cheaper stuff on the other country expense. If the industry does not get competitive those subsidies will drain a country!

The tax credit with the provision for US built and batteries is a pretty reasonable one IMO. Not only is it helping to keep Ford and GM viable it encourages cleaner technology now it also positions the US companies to be viable years in to the future.

I've been to China multiple times. Beautiful country, interesting places, cool people. "Lies" about the other countries are being told both in the West and in China, oftentimes they are simply exaggerations. It is geopolitical noise, not something us regular folks should get hung up with.

I first visited China in 2006 as part of a class trip. Then again in 2018 for business and leisure. The technological leap I saw was a shock. In 2018, super apps and digital payments was already the norm. I felt very out of place using physical currency. I can only imagine what's going on there now with vehicle tech.

Xaiomi does make a whole host of other products which might have higher margin, so when you have a wide mix of products, maybe that allows them to sell a new product for a new market, that's how they leverage it. Ford, GM, etc. don't mfg. smartphones. tablets, computers and a huge array of various other products for the home, etc. either.

Can't wait for xiaomi to arrive in Australia especially the YU7. Luckily for us down under Chinese brands launch their cars here first to test their brands in the western market. We get Chinese EVs at 10-20% mark-up from their domestic market due to 0 tariffs.

Intentionally or not, most American and Canadian car reviewers seem to turn a blind eye to the amazing Chinese EVs from companies like BYD, Xpeng, Zeekr, Li Auto, Nio, and SAIC, as if those cars simply don’t exist. Thankfully, Kyle isn’t one of them. Good on him, and I can tell he’s genuinely excited about reviewing these Chinese cars with their incredible features and cutting-edge technologies: the only way to improve is by keeping an open mind, studying, and learning from the competition. The reason is mostly because they aren't available in their market. What is the point of mentioning a product that people can't purchase. Like sure, you can make the argument about comparison for the sake of competition, but even then, what difference will it really make if you can't buy it in the end? I personally do hope that some of these cars come to the US and Canada in some form or another just to bring more competition. The ones that benefit most are the consumers in that aspect, because it drives cost to the consumer down. I also feel that legacy automakers are extremely behind even compared to US EV makers like Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, etc. Competition is great, but pointless if you can't buy the products!

I'm still stuck on the attachable physical button dock accessories. That is HUGE! So simple but also would be a complete game changer for most Americans that don't want to deal with software only interfaces.

i got the su7 max here as german and the attachment points are endless. phone holder everywhere, flashlight holder, extra camping speaker (which charges automatically when put it in his multi accessory slot), LED colored lights around the screen, LED light UNDER the car which can show charging, different colors and all that! the physical aircon buttons and volume knob ect.
its fantastic. each device will be recognized in the software and add to the entire system. i got the rear seat 12.6inch pads which act like a display in airplanes. you can set the AC in the car or just for the rear, adjust the front passenger seat for more leg room, turn on seat heaters, see the realtime navigation map, ADJUST that map by adding stops on highway blablabla, watch movies, change cars music. everything you want can be controlled just from these screens in the back. when you arrived the destination you click that pad out and have a full size ipad like working station. same fast and snappy to take away. there are SO much more things he didnt include in the video.

Yeah, I think most Americans would be turned off by the huge screen Tesla-style infotainment, and they don't care for most software features either. An all-screen layout is a flat dealbreaker for me personally, so I could never get a Tesla, Rivian, or even Lucid. These all-screen systems just scream "cheap and unsafe!" to me.
Americans are apparently a little okay with removing some buttons (notice the lack of a wiper stalk here, replaced by a gear shift stalk for some reason), because some American cars make that mistake too (GM being the biggest offender). It's probably just a frog boiling situation, people will eventually learn to put up with it.
