Greed. Simple answer. There are so many jackets that keep you warm in the winter that don't cost over $1,000 bucks. I'm offended as a Canadian, frankly. I have a 200 dollar wool jacket that is incredibly stylish and warm. The people who buy this either want to show off how much money that have or are suckers. Canada is MOSTLY frozen for half the year and you generally won't see regular Canadian's wearing these unless they're the "pompous" type of person, then they'll definitely have one. Want to show off your wealth, buy a Canada Goose jacket. Most of the people I see buying these are immigrants who want to seem more Canadian.

the quality has gone crap. i boiught on 4 years ago and developed small tears out of daily use and now canada goose cant repair it saying it is unrepairable ...small tears and they cant repair a jacket which i got for 1600$. avoid

I understand they wanted to reduce fur, but they totally pussied out by removing it from everything. Ok, reduce it, but there are a lot of people who still want it, and there is nothing wrong with it. Also, going public is the death of true quality, by selling out to the pressure of sales over everything else. I personally wouldnt touch any of the new stuff, because I bought mine for functionality

Or you could just buy a $1000 jacket from a company that paid $20 for it wholesale and put a stupid red and white patch with a hip name on it that won't last more than a few washes cause it's mass produced trash. If you want something functional that will last a lifetime,pay for the craftsmanship and it's one time cost. Give your money to the people who actually care and sell quality and not just a brand name

Those newer designs look ridiculous. I really do dislike seeing these reliable utilitarian brands become fashion brands for the masses until the name loses its value. Eventually people start avoiding the brand just to not be seen as another trend follower.

I dont have a Canada Goose. But I have another really expensive high end brand winter jacket, and Ive been wearing it all winter long for years and it still looks and feels brand new. If you live somewhere with cold winters I think a high end jacket is fully worth the money

As a 61 year old living in Canada, the most I ever paid for a winter coat was maybe $250. I finally took the plunge and bought a $1800 CG jacket and it is the best investment I made. Great for the cold weather but if you live anywhere south of NYC, you dont really get the benefit of this jacket.

I look for & use synthetic leather, fur & feathers in most clothes & shoes/boots but if Im buying an expensive item I plan on using for 5-10+ years you better believe Im buying the real thing. I dont care what anyone says the real thing works significantly better & stays looking better longer (if you take care of it). There are also a lot less chemicals absorbing into your skin & nasty crap destroying the environment in natural materials.

Sadly in the UK the Cg badge is now worn by chav's, and as such no matter how good the quality i just can't wear mine anymore as it has such a "pikey" stigma it's almost the new Burberry for those that remember what happened to that Brand. I've bought a Tom Ford parka instead, quality is exceptional and it has no massive badge telling every one who made it. Quiet luxury is the way forward.

Sadly in the UK the Cg badge is now worn by chav's, and as such no matter how good the quality i just can't wear mine anymore as it has such a "pikey" stigma it's almost the new Burberry for those that remember what happened to that Brand. I've bought a Tom Ford parka instead, quality is exceptional and it has no massive badge telling every one who made it. Quiet luxury is the way forward.

I remember that my Dad had a Snow Goose eider down parka back in the 80s that he got from work when he travelled to northern Ontario. He wore it up until he passed away in 2019.now I have it. What a fantastic garmentstill looks new.

I'm Canadian, bought 1 10 years ago, and living in Winnipeg it definitely keeps me warm in -40 Celsius. But I hate that it has animal fur and down. But I know that's what makes it warm. Just no winning when it comes living in a freezing climate I think.

The reality is that heavy duty practical wear and luxury are mutually exclusive. Like, okay, you probably won't be robbed in on some ice sheet, but damaging or losing it isn't a worry you should have when the environment is life threatening. Even if it's proven to be robust. Same madness as with Rolex, no way a sane person takes that one diving even if you could. From an ethical standpoint, considering that 99% of customers probably aren't actually involved in Antarctic expeditions, you could as well save yourself the headache and just buy synthetics.
实用型重型外套和奢侈品本质是矛盾的。就算在南极冰原不怕被抢，但生死攸关的环境里还要担心衣物损坏或丢失？就算质量过硬，这和戴劳力士潜水一样荒谬。从道德角度看，既然99%的买家根本不去南极科考，还不如买合成材料省心。
