But greedy people always want higher and higher prices and never a natural market where prices sometimes goes down. The best for China as a whole and for the long run would be even lower housing prices. The empty apartments must be filled by lower middle class and poor people. Just a guess.
Circumvent tariffs, gains access to other markets, buying existing plants saves time and money (building a new plant, getting permits, transportation costs, no needing to do everything from the ground up), eliminates competition (Pixar and other large game developer companies were buying up the competition with the main purpose of removing competition with no intention to actually invest in a successful subsidiary).
I don't think it is so much the latter because those countries would get very pissed off and force the Chinese to give back the manufacturing plants.

Thank you. As allways a clear picture about the current situation. Perhaps a little unclear about Taiwan. It was the loosing part of a civil war who did flee to this Chinese Island and did occupy it, without buying or paying rent for the Island and without paying tax. No other country would allow this on one of their islands. But China goes easy on the former English colonies the forced on China. If US is not interfering, the trade is great, and the families are visiting each other.
Some of the same conflict like Ukraine, were most of the Russian soldiers have family in Ukraine and other way around. So the people and the soldiers hav no problem with each other. It's the politicians who are making a mess in so many regions over and over again. Remains very much on the schoolyard , how the dynamics did shift and groups did terrorize the kids from th other classes…

I agree that religions have been at the source of many conflicts but would like to call out the statement in this video that the Gaza conflict falls into the same category. The Gaza conflict is a result of violent Zionist settler colonialism. During Trumps first presidency he put sections on China, a technology company "applied materials", already inside China can no longer sell to China. But that's Americas applied materials. Applied materials Israel was still selling to China. INTEL, inside Chengdu China, exactly where the Chinese closed down the American embassy after Trump closed down the Chinese embassy in Houston. If you do a deep study, it's suggested DeepSeek, through exporting importing they managed to get Nvidia's best chips. So, most likely DeepSeek making their AI, can't stop any chips from getting into Chinese hands. Even though China had to cheat to get there, most likely the ball game is over, China will eventually outdo America. It's most all of our past presidents, and even Trump, who screwed all of this up. If you don't think China does not have spies inside TSMC you're kidding yourself.

How do you boost the internal market by attracting the foreign investment? You can't because those foreign investment are mostly from the US and their anti-Chinese rhetorics aims at weakening China, all the time! So if China shows that its environment is the most stable with active but slower growth of its technical sector, then it's obvious that it will draw out the saving from its own citizens. Shaun Rein may have the correct view on the reason China does things but he ain't gonna dictate that China should explain what it does. He may be an expert on economy but he's no expert on governance. He is just after all a businessman. What interest has he on the well being of the Chinese people?

Africa is growing, don't sleep on them.
I think the Muslim world is as anti-intellectual as America today.
That isn't a great market to invest in.

Its state central bank can create the money and invest in their own industries and its have done a great job on many areas like infrastructure. Vietnam growing? Like growing in power blackouts, growing unemployment growing traffic accidents and nothing much change. Vietnam is sort of like " little India" in term of lack of infrastructure and pollution.
