Thousands of parcels have been scattered across the railway tracks in east Los Angeles. According to locals, thieves have been targeting trains, both moving and stationary, to try and steal packages. This section of railway is being cleared by unx Pacific who operate the line - they've had to do so multiple times over the last three months.

It begs for more money from the federal government than it pays in. If it were not for the blue states the red states would be non existent. Facts matter. And I don't know if you've moved to Utah or seen it here but getting an apartment or a house is almost as expensive as in California. Also we were selling gas for almost as high as California.

But what I mean is, there no economic benefit and actual loss in putting effort and resources into something that provide no value to anyone, whereas the same effort and resources could have been used to improve someone's life, even as slightly as @TheVicar argues. It's the broken window fallacy, if we as society wanted to increase GDP and employment we can order people to break and repair windows and dig up and fill ditches all the time, but that effort and resources benefits no one, no value to improve society was provided.

I think poverty and homelessness aren't just part of the problem - they're the vast majority of the problem. I do believe those problems stem from the lack of welfare and healthcare support in America. I know most Americans hate the idea of socialised welfare and healthcare however you can't deny when you go to places that have it like Sweden, Norway, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia etc there's very few homeless people and the crime is much lower. Desperate people do desperate things.

I think poverty and homelessness aren't just part of the problem - they're the vast majority of the problem. I do believe those problems stem from the lack of welfare and healthcare support in America. I know most Americans hate the idea of socialised welfare and healthcare however you can't deny when you go to places that have it like Sweden, Norway, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia etc there's very few homeless people and the crime is much lower. The reality is the US would prefer to spend their tax payer's money upgrading already state-of-the-art military equipment than they would helping out a child sick with leukemia because his parents can't afford health insurance. I’ve never seen such looting in Australia. I meant we have a bit of a share when it comes to theft and looting but not this magnitude. With continued rising inflation anywhere in America today, L.A. in particularly one of the most dangerous states to live in. There is absolutely NO excuse for this to happen. unx Pacific had no right to lay off their private police and this is also a FELONY. There is no misdemeanor nor reduced charges for this and this is clearly organized thefts. You can get 20 years for robbing a train . I’ve been as anti extrajudicial police violence one could be. But that doesn’t mean I’m against police doing their jobs. People should be getting locked up for lengthy sentences over this otherwise it’ll never stop.

I find this interesting because where I'm at in Illinois, you stand anywhere near the tracks just trainwatching and they call the cops for suspicious activiry, and make you leave. Somehow this happens.

Germany is not so different, it’s more control with merkel running it but as a Brit I’m afraid I’d rather live in Germany than in the US, because at least know the systems are good and society isn’t as mad as the US.

I was living in Munich (Germany) earlier this year and all the parcel delivery men there just leave their parcel wagons open and unlocked when they go into apartment buildings to deliver parcels because no one takes anything. They ride bicycles with parcel wagons on the back. I used to watch them out of the window as they'd take parcels into houses and just leave the wagon unattended full of parcels that anyone could take (no one did though).
