He only got his chance with the Patriots when regular starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe was injured.
Brady had to bide his time, but when he got his chance, he made sure he took it. His sheer will to improve and win took him further than his apparent lack of talent indicated.
Often, it is not the most talented that rise to the top. Instead, it is those who dedicate every waking second to honing their skills.
They may have less talent than others, but their will to win and succeed is stronger.
Talent will only take you so far. If you want to suceed at anything in life you have to work hard. Harder than everyone else.
By working hard at your craft every single day, you are creating more opportunities for yourself to be successful.
Only you know what your definition of success is.
For some people it’s having financial freedome.

I know I am repeating myself but the message doesn’t get to the point:
Look.
I abhor the word “talent”. People either use it to justify their own laziness or to gossip of the so-called geniuses.
You know “Elon Musk is so talented that people dream of being him.”
Or like, “man, I am not as talented as my classmate so there is no much point in competing with him.”
How do you even measure talent? Do you do it by an IQ test? Do you measure how much time does it take someone to learn?
The thing is our brains have already had much practice. If you teach me completely new science, I would learn it pretty quickly because my brain is already trained in learning science (physics in my case).
If you teach me how to paint, I have no doubt in my mind that I would suck pretty badly, especially in the beginning and I would be called “untalented”.
I am not saying there are no genes or all people are born “equal”.
But you can’t measure talent. If you put Einstein in a jungle, he would be as dumb as a carrot. Would you call him a genius then? Would he have been able to solve a quadratic equation? The answer is no.
Intelligence is practiced.
Athleticism is practiced.
Even self-confidence is practiced.
There are two kinds of people in the world: those who believe in themselves and those who don’t.

When my first novel came out, it was rife with errors. People would often either message me or leave a review on Amazon pointing out those grammatical mistakes.
I was 20 when I wrote it. I was naive. Seeing your debut novel on Amazon India’s Top 10 Bestsellers list can get you feeling all high and mighty. So I ignored those a errors. I never even knew the concept of an editor nor did I have enough money at the time to afford one.
Now I had a talent for storytelling for as long as I could remember. Writing was a just medium to share my stories with the world, but I wasn’t gifted at it.
5-years later, now that I’m a professional writer, I can look back at my first novel or earliest Quora answers and spot easily where I was wrong.
I read a lot. There has barely been a day in the last 3–4 years when I have not written something. I write poetries for myself when I’m feeling low. I write stories for millions on Quora for when I’m feeling high. But no matter how I’m feeling, I make sure that I write.
Now that I have started writing for webseries, my writing hours sometimes blow up to 10–12 hours a day. There’s a lot of hard work that goes behind the scenes to bring out those stories.
But there’s a catch—

We all know so many students who say that they studied for 10–12–14 hours but didn’t get the desired results.
People work hard more than we give them credit for but where that hard work is applied is of utmost importance to succeed.
That’s where inner reflection comes in. That’s where it helps to know where your strengths and weaknesses are and how much time should you devote to them.
Life is all sorts of grey.
You’ll find someone with insane talent who made it easily.
You’ll find someone who has put in insane hard work and succeeded.
But these are outliers. The rest of us have to find the right balance between talent and hard work to meet our goals.
The truth always lies somewhere in between.

IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma. He comes from a small village of Madhya Pradesh ‘Morena’.
Failed in 12th class…
As he wasn’t an academically bright student… he had wished that he would somehow pass the class 12 examination by cheating but unfortunately SDM of the area came to the examination center and didn’t let cheating happen.
Started driving Auto Rickshaw with his brother.
Once their Rickshaw got impounded by the Police. They both went to SDM office. When their turn came, Manoj just asked SDM “How to become an officer like you?” instead of talking about their Risckshaw. Then SDM thought of helping him and discussed about State PCS and UPSC and gave an overview of it.
Moved to Gwalior…
He then came to Gwalior to prepare for competitive exams and also enrolled himself for graduation course. At one point of time, his financial condition was so bad that, he did not have a place to live and food to eat. He even had to sleep with beggars on footpath sometimes.

Worked as a Peon in a Library. He took advantage of it to read books. There he read about many great personalities. He got much influenced and inspired by Abraham Lincoln.

Here he started studying with serious mind. Due to some financial restraints, he started walking dogs for people to earn some money so that he could bear his study expenses and room rent.
He worked at Atta Shop too.
Failed in UPSC exam thrice…
During these hard times, his girlfriend (Mr. Manoj Kumar’s wife) motivated and supported him.
Finally, in 2005 in his fourth and final attempt, he cleared Civil Services Exam and became an IPS officer. His wife also cracked CSE and became an IRS officer.
Does hard work really beat talent as most people claim?
:- Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard.
There is a book titled as “12th Fail” written by his close friend ( Anurag Pathak )in which he narrates his struggle to reach where he is today in details. This book is also available on Flipkart. Give it a read and I’m sure that it will motivate you.

When I had started preparing for JEE in class 11th, I used to score decent marks in the review tests held by the coaching institute. However, there were a few students who performed exceptionally well.
Interestingly, by the end of the 2 years of JEE preparation, the students who used to perform exceptionally well earlier had all fallen behind, and a new set of students had taken their place. This new set of students had one thing in common - they were consistent. They consistently tolled and prepared hard, test after test, gradually improving their performance.
And in the end, the students who were consistent won the game.
Life is a very long marathon. Small bursts of performance or luck might help us in the short run.
But in the end, those who win are the ones who are consistent hard workers.

He claimed to speak in over 40 languages,, and attended Harvard University at the age of 11. This was a prodigy, reporters loving to follow him around. What happened to him? Well, he became a professor (he was younger than all of his students), then left and sympathized with a socialist form of government. He was arrested. After getting out of prison, he had job after job and lived in terrible conditions until he died at the age of 46 years old. This from a person who supposedly had a lot of talent.

He developed general and special relativity, along with the equation E=mc2, argued to be the most known equation in the world. He also received a Nobel Prize for the discovery of the photoelectric effect. He became known all over the world, eventually becoming a household name.

You probably already knew this, so why am I telling you this? It's because Einstein, believe it or not, didn't have the talent that Sidis had. Sidis had amazing skills and teachers, but Einstein had to teach calculus to himself. He failed to get into the Swiss Federal Polytechnic, but he worked hard and tried again.
Instead of being able to find a teaching position as easily as Sidis could, Einstein had to work in a patent office for 7 years. That's where the magic happened and where he came up with his brilliant ideas.
Was Albert Einstein even a genius? Who knows. Who cares. It doesn't really matter how much talent you have if you can't use that talent. It doesn't really matter that you have talent at all.
So, who wins? Hard work or talent?
