I would actually say that very few people in the US have had actually good tea. I base this on living about half my life in the US and half in the UK - where tea is the traditional go-to hot drink.
I find myself not wanting to eat in restaurants in the US, because after I eat I really like a cup of tea - preferably with my dessert. And it's almost always disappointing.

I'm like this and my mom swears I most have gotten my sweet tooth from my dad since he is the same way. She used to joke with my dad asking if he wanted any coffee with his mug of sugar and cream. My mom is insane and likes to drink it black. The only time she ever does anything with it is to put an ice cube to cool it down faster. To me, tea (except Earl Grey, which is flavored) just doesn't taste very good. It's drinkable but blah. If coffee is too acidic for you, add some milk. That's how I usually drink it. There's nothing like the smell of coffee. And no, it's not just the caffeine -- I actually drink decaf much of the time.

I get my caffeine from Turkey Hill Iced Tea & don’t even own a coffee maker , but herbal tea has so many uses than I find helpful , like peppermint for upset stomaches, valerian or lavender for anxiety , chamomile for insomnia, etc. i do like a good frappacino though

There is something in tea that does something weird to my mouth - it's like it sucks all the moistures out of my mouth and makes my tongue feel like sandpaper. Maybe it's the tannins? My sister independent of me came to the same conclusion and descxtion.

I prefer coffee because it's easy. If I burn it, it's only slightly more bitter than it normally would be. Expectations aren't very high to begin with, and it's very difficult to make coffee so bad that I throw it out instead of saying "fuck it, it's coffee".

Tea that isn't boiled perfectly or has the wrong amounts of milk and sugar makes it undrinkable, and there isn't enough caffeine to justify putting my tastebuds through the ordeal of drinking it regardless of taste.

I'd argue coffee is more user friendly, tea you have to be mindful of temperatures and steep time to make a good cup.
