we don’t know nothing about Chinese cars , it seems like 20 different EV brands just popped out in China in the last 2-3 years , we don’t know anything about them, is there available parts , dealer and service network , quality ..etc … we will know more in about 5-10 years … comparing Chinese car to Maybach is lunacy , Mercedes practically invented the car , and Chinese just started …

Japanese would be a much better comparison. They radically changed the American car maket. And put European manufacturers on it's toes. LS400, Land Cruisers, NSX. Camry, Accord, Corolla the list goes on.

@nanyanguo1  Majority of Tesla vehicles come with Panasonic or LG batteries.  Base RWD M3 used to come with CATL LFP batteries but that trim has been replaced with Long Range RWD which uses Panasonic/LG NMC batteries.

Germany' enemy was selling it cheap energy which powered the German manufacturing base but then Germany' friend blew up the energy pipeline and now Germany is forced to buy expensive gas from Germany Friend' and/or Qatar who is the client state of Germany' Friend, while it's economy is collapsing.

Russia did profit from it. Gazprom had contracts with Germany. They wanted a way out without paying a fine.

@apocalypse4144  Russia was reducing the transfere of gas through the NS 1 pipeline constantly, blaming it on a "defect gas turbine". They were trying to black mail Germany to turn on the NS2 pipeline.
Right before the accident happent, gas transfer was around only 15-20%. There was also the whole drama with Canada, who was maintaning a turbine and Russia not wanting to accept the delivery because of some missing papers or something. You can look it up. The internet does not forget.
Russia was basically running out of excuses to not deliver said amount of gas the contract demanded.
And we know Russia tried to weasel their way out of the contract, because of the lawsuit that happend after. Which Gazprom lost.

1. Russia has the capacity and willingness to deliver gas to Germany. But the west pressurised Germany to look at alternative options.
2. It was big business for them, so there was no rationale for them to sabotage a critical infrastructure for their revenues.
3. Gazprom case was more on the "nationalisation" efforts on germany to keep Russia from holding control over critical infrastructure.
4. Russia were reducing supplies to force rouble payments as sanctions were put on them to curb use of Euros/dollars by Russia to buy from other countries. So Euros were of no use if Germany pays in them.
4. Russia lost business because of NS1 & NS2 damage. who gained? Ukraine and USA/Qatar/Norway.

@apocalypse4144 1 If they want to contnue to sell their gas then they would have repaired NS1 - like it is written in the contract - Gazprom has the responsability to fix and maintane the pipelines.
2 Gazprom is state controlled. If the Kremlin says stop the business to put pressure on the Germany, then Gazprom does what the Kremlin wants.
3 now you make no sense. Try rearange that sentence or use other words.
4 Now you agree that Russia was cutting the supplies to force germany into paying  ruble. Which was (again) written in the cantract that the payment had to be in Euro.
4.2. Flowers gain from rain. That doesn't mean that flowers control the clouds.
Others profit from Germany's bad decision in the past to trust Russia. So what?

1. repair is the later step, But first include them in the investigations on NS. if they are obligated to repair, they are also entitled to be part of an joint investigation

4. If they pay in a currency that they cannot use, isn't it logical that they would like to take a different currency that they can use. So either remove the sanctions or pay in roubles. It was a fair thing expecte from any soverign nation
5. LOL. Germany profited from Russia's cheap gas. and without that, their companies are losing their competitiveness. expect more tanking and loss of jobs in near future if it still continues.

america had the same issue & look where we are now. can't afford a car at all, after we bailed out the car industry. in reality, there are enough cars sitting unbought on lots to circle the earth.
how many cars can be bought?  none, can't afford it.

Germany, and many western nations with well-developed auto industry are facing the same problems. High energy cost, being stuck in the ICE paradigm. Then the high cost of living makes consumers less likely to pay for a new car, and auto workers demand higher pay because of the higher cost of living.
Without a doubt, China plays a big part in unsettling the global auto market. Now is China a positive agent of change, or a disruptor ? It depends on which side of the fence you are sitting.

My volkswagen repair cost after spending more than $3000 in a year came out another 5k and engine showing plenty of codes so another 5k. I bought Tesla instead.

@dougm659  If I lived in a crowded city, I might get one as a roundabout, but to think they will totally replace ICE or ICE hybrids is misguided.  Cold weather, charging, weight....don't appeal to a broad swath of those outside congested cities.  And the grid couldn't support it anyway!

Weight .. really ?  Good EVs are LIGHTER than combustion cars, not heavier compare a Model Y with a Audi Q5, BMW X3, Tiguan etc . 1860kg for a 450hp sedan with more cargo than a BMW X7 is incredible.
I've driven my Y 45,000km in the past year mostly on roadtrips across Europe and it cost me 3x less than an equivalent combustion car
