Problem is India compete with nations like Pakistan and Bangladesh. Compared to developed countries, we are far behind. There are countries like Singapore and China which faced similar financial problems like India faced after Independence. But these countries focused on progress. Singapore also have strict anti corruption laws. We though have big work force and many of them are hard working people but government have always failed to create jobs. For example compare number of judges per million population in China vs USA vs India. Compare number of civil servants per million population. When basic human problems are not solved we will never reach to next level of development which is needed to boost per capita GDP. We are 5 largest GDP but that is mostly contributed by top 20-30 percent population. Investors don't trust India and our top minds still prefer citizenship of developed countries. People hoped things will change in BJP regime, they did well in road connectivity but corruption is still a common thing. BJP has even inducted corrupted leaders of other parties to win election. I hope things change for betterment of our nation because China is definitely a super power now and our nation is falling far behind in development race.

China spend 1.8% of its GDP on defense in 2022, as per World bank estimates. Its all relative, with 2nd highest GDP in the world. The US spends 3.3% of its GDP on defense in 2023
( USD 800 billion).. China is lagging behind in defense tech and Industrial Military Complex industry. China need to spend also 3% of its GDP to boost its defense Technology to keep par with the US, still behind but maintaining momentum is the key.

India is too far behind to catch up with China even in fifty years since gdp per capita of India is less than 1/5 that of China. Unattainable wish does not help much. Be real. After half a century, if India comes on par with China, it will be a good job.

Now who would tell that although China is spending 249 billion dollars on military, their gdp is 19.5 trillion dollars as of 2025. If, like india, they spent 2.1 percent on their gdp, their military expenditure would be 410 billion dollars. But they spend a little over 1.28 percent, with a consistent annual growth of 7.2 percent for the past few years. You can't compare China with india, they are spending comfortably what you can't without cutting funds to other sectors.
In terms of budget, india allocated 12.9 percent of its 775 billion dollars, which was on a fiscal deficit of 4.4 percent already.
The Chinese budget for 2025 is 3.9 trillion dollars, of with they spend 6.38 percent on defense. While spending 6.46 trillion rmb or 900 billion dollars on education. Can you compare india with that?

China gdp is at least five times bigger than India, but its military budget is only three times more than India military budget, which means India has spent higher proportion of its gdp on military than China, so stop your ignorant ranting!

India competing with China, defensively or economically, is as foolish as Pakistan trying to compare itself with India. India's foreign reserves are

Relax. Just keep in mind China's GDP is 5X that of India's. If its defence budget is 3X that of India's, as you stated, that means India's defence budget, as a percentage of its GDP, is actually much higher than China's. This is not unreasonable, considering the hostile forces, particularly those of the U.S. and its vassals, that are ringed around it. To be honest, India is an after thought at best, and a nuisance at worse, as far as China is concerned. Rest assured China is not concerned about India, so don't kill yourself working up a frenzy, lobbying to spend more money on arms, instead of improving the lives of ordinary people and lifting them out of poverty, as China has done.

China has 6X bigger economy than India and so are their GDP per capita. If removed the top 10% of India super rich, India GDP per capita is around USD1600 per capita and it is almost 8X smaller than China. Hence, guess which country is spending too much to look like a superpower and bagging about it. Forget talking about democracy bcoz India fails almost in everything in comparison.

In China spending on defence is job creating because they make their own arsenal and hardware. People are needed to make defense hardware. Export market is also increasing.
It makes Chinese economy stronger. Steels and raw materials and labour will be consume and this will increase the GDP..India is buying and reduces Indian foreign reserve and the hardware depreciating drastically.

Relax. Just keep in mind China's GDP is 5X that of India's. If its defence budget is 3X that of India's, as you stated, that means India's defence budget, as a percentage of its GDP, is actually much higher than China's. This is not unreasonable, considering the hostile forces, particularly those of the U.S. and its vassals, that are ringed around it. To be honest, India is an after thought at best, and a nuisance at worse, as far as China is concerned. Rest assured China is not concerned about India, so don't kill yourself working up a frenzy, lobbying to spend more money on arms, instead of improving the lives of ordinary people and lifting them out of poverty, as China has done.
