China's war against poverty! China's war against DRUGS China's war against corruption Just the above 3 puts almost ALL the countries in the world to shame.
@jie-n8j
11建设新疆,12建设西藏,13兴修全世界最大的水利工程,14建立完整工业体系,15把美国为首的联合国军从鸭绿江打回三八线,16打赢苏联、印度、越南等所有边界战争,17收复西沙,18发射卫星,19原子弹,20氢弹,21洲际导弹,22核潜艇;

It is not war. It is political will.
@lancewood1410
@rod52k Political will? China is more like NON-PARTISAN. Theres only 1 party and the obxtive of the party is to improve the lives of the People of China. Even I as an ethnic Chinese NOT from China can see it glaringly. I've witness how China changed in last 45 years. How i wish my country can do the 3 things i mentioned above even if 50% would be an achievement itself.

I've lived in Canada for 60 years and have travelled extensively through the US and much of Europe, so I feel qualified to make this observation: While living conditions have improved in every city, town, and village I've visited in China in the past 20 years, the same cannot be said for any city or town in the US, the UK, or much of Europe. Yet, the Western media wants me to believe the opposite is true. Journalistic integrity simply doesn't exist in the West.
@jerrystakeonChina799
I've travelled a lot in Europe too but not more recently - however, the last time I was in my hometown, in the Northeast of England, I was stunned by how little anything has changed and how bleak it all was - China changes every year and in every single case, after visiting a town once, I see improvements when returning - this was remarkable in places like Ningxia and Gansu and probably one of the most incredible points that changed my opinions of China.
@evagolding5871
Sometimes change isn't necessary, but improvement is. Where I live in England seems to be achieving neither. A typical example is the roads: the potholes are not only increasing in number but also growing in size.
@elkaboom1871
@evagolding5871 When I lived in Toronto some years back, there was a popular saying: " Springtime is when flowers grow, so do potholes".
@nominou6
@elkaboom1871 That's nothing compared to Montréal and all that's said, and seen, about potholes which are called 'nids de poule' ('chicken's nests'). I spent many years in both cities, so I can compare.
@sinocare
I had very similar traveling patterns as you. Totally agree with your observation.

When China fights wars, it's only for protecting its national security. When America fights wars, it's rarely for national security reasons. Afghanistan, El Salvador, Grenada, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Yugoslavia, etc. NONE of these countries threatened America's national security. China took back Tibet, which it lost during the Century of Humiliation. Tibet had been part of China for centuries. China fought in Korea because of America's threat to China's national security. China fought India over territory. Similarly, Vietnam. Today's "wars" fought by China do not hurt people. China fights climate change, poverty, disease, corruption, crime, etc.

Restricting the supply of heavy rare earth minerals to the warmongering United States, Europe and Japan ensures some peace on Earth. Why provide rare earth magnets to warmongering countries that have threatened war with China.
@alifm40DS
True. And let me added that Its Processed Rare earth minerals. Because, even if the US managed to obtained tons of rare earth minerals outside of China or Russia. They missing one thing. The capacity including facilities to processed it. They never bothered to build one since its very expensive, dirty and energy extensive. Something what US can't afford to do even without the protest of ultra environmentalist groups in US.
@alifm40DS
That's why they're completely reliant on China for processing those materials.

When China does war, it does war - all the way. However, because China has experienced what actual TOTAL war is, it is reluctant to get one started and all of her conflicts after 1954 have been really skirmishes rather than actual war. The Americans have never experienced total war since 1865 for 165 years on its own soil, and has carried wars in OTHER people's land, it has no idea just how horrific real war is like. This is why when the Vietnam War was the first telecast war seen on U.S. television sets, it horrified many Americans at the brutality seen. Yet, they have no experience of it first hand. Osama bin Ladin brought a tiny miniscule bit of it to the USA on 9/11 and the Americans became traumatized by it already. Imagine if they are to face total war on their own soil but because they have not, they have this airy-fairy mental image that war is like some computer video game and have been so eager for war in which it is like some exciting "game" where SOMEONE else's blood will be shed but never them, never their own. China has experienced wars - through 5,000 years of them - and really don't want any more of it. This is why it is such a laugh to read of U.S. Americans claiming that China is a war threat when the U.S. has itself, never stopped warring in other countries 235 years out of its 250 years of existence.

@joannelim5483
China was the world’s largest economy for much of the last two millennia - from around 1 AD to 1800 AD. During this period, it held the top spot for approximately 1,100 years on its own and shared the top spot with India for the remaining 700 years. In 1840, China was the richest nation in the world, making up around 35% of global GDP. Britain desperately wanted Chinese goods - tea, silk, porcelain, but didn’t want to pay fairly. Instead, it smuggled illegal opium into China, sparking addiction and social collapse. When Chinese authorities pushed back, Britain declared war, joined by other colonial powers like France, Germany, Russia, and later Japan. There were two Opium Wars, and China, militarily weak despite its wealth, was defeated. As punishment, it was forced to cede Hong Kong to Britain, cede outer Manchuria to Russia, a territory that Russia still hold to this day, legalize opium, pay massive reparations in silver, and sign a string of unequal treaties. The country's economy was looted, its people addicted, and its sovereignty shattered. Imagine the fentanyl crisis multiplied a million times - that’s what foreign powers imposed on China. In 1894, Japan invaded China to gain control over Korea, which at the time was a tributary state under Chinese influence. Militarily outmatched, China was quickly defeated. As part of the Treaty of Shimonoseki (1895), China was forced to cede Taiwan to Japan, recognise Korea’s independence, and pay large reparations. In the 1930s, Japan launched a full-scale invasion of China, starting the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) - a brutal conflict that became part of World War II. An estimated 20 to 30 million Chinese civilians and soldiers died, roughly 1 in 10 Chinese people at the time. The war witnessed widespread atrocities, including mass killings of civilians, among them children and infants. Women and young girls alike were violated, and horrific human experimentation was carried out by Unit 731, where live prisoners were used for biological and chemical weapons research. After Japan’s defeat in World War II, Taiwan was returned to China. However, many Japanese war criminals, including several scientists from Unit 731, were never prosecuted. In some cases, they were granted immunity in exchange for access to Unit 731’s experimental data by the West, prioritizing strategic interests over justice. From 1840 to 1949, China was subjected to near-constant invasions, exploitation, and humiliation by foreign powers. This is remembered as the darkest era in modern Chinese history. Today, the phrase “Never Again” captures China's determination to never return to that period of weakness. Therefore, China’s contemporary military modernization is largely driven by defensive and deterrent obxtives, rather than for aggressive ambitions. Today, China’s rise is not unnatural, but rather returning to its historical place on the world stage.
@GeorgeHooi
One thing you have not intentioned is the USA involvements in the humiliation of China - although the US did not formally carved out a Chinese city or port for itself like the British, Germans, Spanish and French did, nonetheless, Americans such as the Roosevelt's enriched themselves wildly in the trading of opium in China. Several US colleges and universities in the US were funded by money gleaned from the addicted Chinese victims of opium. The US was also heavily involved in creating the current territorial disputes China has with the Japanese in the Diaoyu (Senkaku) Islands and Taiwan. Okinawa which used to be known as The Kingdom of Ryuju was an independent tributary state of China until taken by the Japanese during the outward expansion and despite the years of demonstrations by the native Ryukyuans (Okinawans) for independence the US has ignored their demands and maintained their military base there while recognising the illegitimacy of Japanese occupation. Geopolitical power can be very dirty.

@jie-n8j
@cfc9086

I was born in 1958, therefore China has only been to war once in my lifetime - there was no declaration of war by China during either of these conflicts either. Technically, in neither of these was China at war: Answwr from AI: "During the Vietnam conflict (roughly 1965–1973). While China provided massive logistical, technical, and engineering support to North Vietnam, it avoided a direct, open declaration of war against the U.S. to prevent a full-scale direct conflict, similar to their experience in the Korean War."

The China's "Human Dignity War" is the best example to inspire & guide Global South countries in their pursuits of national developments for better futures. Not just that, developed countries in which human dignity problems have been building up & remaining unresolved should also learn from China for appropriate solutions. There is absolutely no human dignity nor even national dignity when a country's citizens have to camp, live & litter in the public with drug addicts lingering all over the streets like pest infestations in what were supposed to be beautiful gardens.

Thank you Jerry for a brilliant descxtion of the history of modern China & of the development of China since 1949! A summary of China’s war on poverty, opium addiction & prostitution, development of health care, education, agriculture, rural areas, infrastructure and the fight against corruption & pollution were to the point & informative! Wish the West learns these facts more & spreads blatant lies less!

You know my back ground. Corruption is rife in the UK, especially the Judicial System, supported by Barristers, Solicitors, and the police. There seems to be no end to Perverting the Course of Justice. The public witnessed what happened to the owners of the sub-post offices. They were all innocent. Nearly a thousand were found guilty, 32 sent to prison and 13 committed suicide. All the above 'individuals' Perverted the Course of Justice, and go unpunished. That is Democracy. That is justice.

@jerrystakeonChina799

Sometimes change isn't necessary, but improvement is. Where I live in England seems to be achieving neither. A typical example is the roads: the potholes are not only increasing in number but also growing in size.

True. And let me added that Its Processed Rare earth minerals. Because, even if the US managed to obtained tons of rare earth minerals outside of China or Russia. They missing one thing.

@GeorgeHooi

Mr. Jerry you are right that Chiang Kai sek was the most corrupted dictator. Till today Taiwan is still is.

The barely educated Bush declared a ‘War on Terror’ overlooking the fact that war IS terror.
@hclau218
Hot wars - USA Dept of War archives showed 90 wars on 30 countries in the last 45 years. Their own estimates - 10 million killed and 40 million displaced. Anyone can fact checked this unless Trump had ordered the removal of the publicly accessible archives.

Thank you Jerry for yet another excellent extended episode China has been through numerous ups and downs, the best of the best and the worst of worst in several millenia of natural disasters and civil wars and is still standing strong and proud to this date. There's nothing China has not been through and experienced, by learning past mistakes, the CPC is constantly making the right choices and navigating her own people to prosperity.

The injustices to China throughout the years is appalling. Jerry, you again spelled it out beautifully. Look at USA..becoming a police state. What a shame! Added: Sun Tzu "The greatest victory is that which requires no battle."

What a powerful and robust rebuttal to the lies of the so called War Secretary of the US and on the Westen's China threat narrative! (Remember the dwarf former PM of the UK, Rishi Sunak, who used to exclaim:"China is a security threat to the UK!").

Fun fact: British WW1 medals given to the Chinese were bronze. Britons received silver ones.

China respects human rights by improving living conditions in China and in other countries. US declares human rights protection by bombing and looting other countries, killing millions and millions of human and animal lives, and polluting the air of the world with bombs.

Your educational, historical fact- based arguments and interesting videos should be used to teach History lessons in the so called Five - Eye schools. Ignorance is not a bliss. It's in the national interests of Anglo Saxon communities when their schools teach real History to reduce ignorance.

Actually I neglected to say the main point is to tell the difference between China’s war on … in order to improve people’s life & human dignity and the U.S. war on … is actual military war on countries & people in the world!

Thx lots for telling us so much abt this part of Chinese history. I’m a Chinese brought up under the British colonial rule in HK, I never studied Chinese history nor sadly was I interested in anything China until recent years. There’s so much in ur monologue here that I get to learn in a way I understand.
