Earlier most of the people after engineering used to take up jobs and were promoted year after year and finally get retired happily. But now this escalator of promotion is jammed at every level. Around 1.5 million engineers graduate every year.
Only 18.43% of the engineers are employable in the software sector.
Only 3.84% engineers suited to tech roles in startups.
Nearly 27% of engineers failed to even snag an interview.
So, they take up the following career options:
Job after graduation (B.Tech)
Most of the engineering graduates take up the jobs in IT companies most of which are private sector. Rest take jobs from their respective engineering field and the remaining take the jobs whichever they get whether it may be digital marketing or any other.
2. Doing higher studies after Engineering (MTech/MS)
If they could not get good job after college, then they go for higher education and chances of job get increased. But it is generally seen that very few people are interested in higher education because it requires another year of preparation.

Although corporate jobs may offer the best of salaries and perks, a majority of engineering aspirants still crave entry to the prestigious Indian Civil Services held by the UPSC.
According to the 65th Annual Report of the unx Public Service Commission, in unx Public Service Commission (UPSC) more than half of the candidate qualifying exam comprise of engineers.
5. Entrepreneurship
This is the best option for you when you have unique business idea and you have also money to invest in your business. Entrepreneurship is the most new thing everyone is doing and you should also do it too. But do not get carried away by the idea of becoming popular and rich in very less time. It may happen but do consider this as learning opportunity.
These are the most common career options taken by the engineering gradually. Very few among them become a famous politician, hacker, your favourite actor/ actress or even a million dollar businessman.

You can work for banking sectors.
You can work for agriculture sectors.
You can work for Indian defence sector.
You can give State Public Service Commission examination and and work in Administrative Service.
You can also give unx Public Service Commission examination .
You can join for post graduation course in your discipline and work as an assistant professor in an Engineering College.
In the above case if you are not inclined for teaching profession, you can do your PhD and can work for a Research Organisation.

What are your plans after MBBS?
Yesterday (July 30, 2019), a 2nd year student at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical Hospital, New Delhi ended his life, and I'll be honest with you, I didn't even care to ask for his name. I had never known him, and for me, he was just another figure in the worsening statistics of suicides committed by Indian medical students.
Until somebody, one of the closest people in my life, told me they'd been friends and studied together. That's when it hit me- exactly how close to home this issue was; this is all of our lives now.
I'm a person who confronts the idea of death (of even loved ones) with more logic than emotion. But the idea of suicide still sends chills down my spine- the thought that, despite having achieved what lakhs can only dream of, someone still feels so hopeless in life that they see no point in living; inspite of all their dreams and all that they hold dear.
And yet, it has become not just a reality for medical students, but, in fact, something very common. I looked up the news and found 2 other names of Indian medical students who couldn't bear to live their lives anymore (in the last 2 days itself).
So, this is my plan after MBBS, and my way of showing solidarity with all those who are struggling, and those who have decided to give up the fight — I will work my ass off to become the best possible doctor I can be.

I am confident, more than ever now, that I need to apply for USMLE after MBBS, and learn as much as I can. I believe one needs to be a part of the system to understand its flaws, but, at the same time, it requires a perspective from beyond the confines of the system to bring about the smallest of positive change.
Moreover, I've seen that India listens to Indians only when they gain some sort of international recognition.
So then, so be it.
I'll establish myself such that when I speak, people HAVE to listen, and when I write, people HAVE to read, and not just input my words, but also act on them. I will lead by example.
When people talk about ‘brain drain’, it really isn't people moving out of the country. At least, they're still serving the humanity, and a seventh of the humanity is India.
Brain drain is when students kill themselves under unnecessary mental pressure to perform.
Brain drain is when innocent doctors are lynched by angry mobs for no reason whatsoever.
This answer is not only for the readers, but more so for me, a reminder of what I aspire for. Whether I go on to become a clinician, a surgeon, or a researcher, at the core, my aim would forever be to help free the brightest of India’s mind from this sinister system. If I could make even an iota of difference in the way people think and act, I would consider it an achievement.

Prepare for Banking Exams(PSU or Private Banks): Even though you are an engineer by trade, you can sit for banking exams like IBPS, SBI, RBI, Insrance etc. Many bankers and aspiring bankers are engineers (including some people that I personally know) and banks do not discriminate with engineers as long as they have the aptitude to clear rigorous exams and interviews. You can join as a clerk or a Probationary Officer(Assistant Manager).You may also try to get into private banks if you feel unable to compete in the aforementioned competitive exams.
Prepare for Civil Services: The unx Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Exam from where India top level bureaucrats like IAS and IPS are sexted. Now, a word of caution as these exams are not for everyone and require meticulous and rigorous study for a long period of time (usually 2–3 years). The competition here is immense and success rates are abysmally low, as you would be competing with the best minds in the country from every single field(almost without exception).
