So far, this AI is acting like a clichéd anime character, with behaviors and dialogue coded by someone else. Real humans are much more messy and complicated

Even if this AI advances enough that hologram-waifus can walk around your house and carry conversations with you, you'll still be talking to a calculated exaggeration of a human, especially one that will behave the way you want them to, rather than an actual person who can have complex reactions to you. Some people might be fine with being alone with obedient holograms, and I respect that decision, but I don't think most people would be satisfied with that. At least not people of our generation. (maybe future generations will have more socially awkward Otaku, who knows)
