Registered dental hygienist weighing in on this-
IF you have to brush only once a day (due to depression, exhaustion, laziness, whatever) please please please brush at NIGHT
I see so many patients on a regular basis who only brush once a day in the morning. But what they don't realize is when we go to bed at night everything we ate/drank throughout the day as well as the plaque/bacteria in our mouths just sit completely undisturbed all. night. long. Whether this be 5, 6, 7, or 8 hours. This contributes to a lower pH which leads to cavities, and dry mouth some people experience during the night puts you at an even higher risk for tooth decay. Your salivary glands slow their function while you sleep so not much is moving around at all like it would be while we are active during the day.
So for your sake and the sake of your dental healthcare professionals please brush at night. Twice a day, obviously, is preferable. I tell my patients I will happy dance with them if they come back in and have been brushing 2x/day

Ffs, please do this. I'm sitting outside of a walk in clinic now waiting to get antibiotics for an abscess tooth because the pain has become unbearable. My right eye keeps leaking from the pressure and I've taken so much pain medication that my stomach hurts. I can't stand this pain much longer and I've been sitting here for 2 amd a half hours.

I’m jealous, but also congrats! I seem to be immune to the endorphin hit/runners high. I’ve been working out regularly for about 5 years now, and I still hate it. The results are worth it though. The gym isn’t fun, and it takes a ton of time I’d rather use for other things, but I’m approaching 30 and in borderline the best shape of my life (got real out of shape during the pandemic, because I never cracked the secret of forcing myself to work out at home. If I go to the gym, I only have to be disciplined enough to get there. Once I’m there there’s nothing to do but work out). I’m also just more aware of my body now than I used to be. For those who are in your late 20s and 30's, don't stop being active. A big change happens when you are 35 for some people but not for others. I heard on a podcast last week that from 35-55 you get to choose your age. Some 39 year olds are old as fuck and barely get out of a chair without sounding like a geriatric 70 year old. Some beach volleyball players in their 40s are better than those in their 20s. Some people are doing triathlons in their 50s. Don't stop exercising. If you stop it is so hard to start back up again.

Go to the library and ask the librarian for nonfiction recommendations. It helps to have some general preferences in mind: sociology, history, biology, astrophysics. Librarians are great at recommending books. It doesn't have to be self-improvement or heavy scholarly stuff; there are neat books out there about offbeat subjects in science (Mary Roach has written some good ones, though they aren't for the squeamish), Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson, little snapshots of history (some are well-written and not dry at all), biographies, memoirs, current events, etc. Start with the accessible stuff rather than the heavy and dry academic works.

Don't go jogging if you A) have problems with your knees or B) are overweight. You will do yourself no favor. Knee problems shouldn't be ignored anyways and going for a jog while overweight will cause knee damage.
And dear god, get some good shoes for the right thing. Shoes for running on concrete are very different to shoes you want to use on softer surfaces.
There are also other sports to get started if you can't go jogging for one reason or another.

just do what makes you happy and don’t care what people think. You’ll find that it takes a lot less then 5 years to see change

The "not caring" part is key. Who cares what this woman thinks about you? She will walk past you and you never see her again.

Bad advice. Keep a mental list of people you respect and actually think about the reasons you respect that person. Care about what those people think.
If you respect your grandfather because hes always supported the family growing up and he always gave you attention then you should absolutely care what he thinks.

If it's some random stranger then you dont know them and they know nothing about you. Fuck em. Who cares what they think?
europechad
A lot of people throw this advice around and a lot of people also misunderstand this. Yes, don't care what strangers think and yes, do what makes you happy as in find a hobby that you enjoy or something. But no, sometimes what makes you happy is NOT good for you, and sometimes other people's opinions are not just to hurt you but they are showing concern for your safety.

Recommendations?
DeweyDecimator020

Start off by not calling yourself a broken incompetent shell. That does nobody any favours at all. You know what you need to do so stop giving other people advice and start doing those things you keep finding excuses not to start. You have plenty of time left, don't waste it all.
