A) The obsession with THE NORTH FACE (the Brand)
B) The fact that Koreans are genius and courteous, when it comes to Customer Service.
I can personally vouch for the efficiency and kind heartedness of Korea''s service industry....here are two instances, which will give you a fair idea.
1. It has been just one month in Seoul for me. I was put up in an apartment building near Itaewon by my company. One day, late at night, I was feeling hungry and decided to call Pizza hut, as I was too tired to go out. So, I call them up, but somehow, I was not able to make the Pizza Hut Guy understand my address, maybe it was my pronunciation of the place and building name. After 5 mins of ordeal, I decided to thank the guy for his patience and ended the call. I almost forgot about it, and started watching a movie. But to my surprise, after about 10 min, I got a call back from Pizza Hut. What happened was that the earlier Pizza Hut Guy, after my first call, got hold of a guy who can speak English and put him on the phone with me, so that he could take my order. It was a simple act but really struck a chord with me.

2. This another time, I was walking down the lanes besides those big office buildings infront of Seoul Station. And few meters down the lane, I saw one of those roadside promotional stall for SM car company with their new model. With the intention of only browsing, I decided to check out the catalogue info. When I reach there, the lone Sales guy was already attending to a person. I was expecting, infact hoping, that the Sales guy would just ignore me and let me leave once I am done with the catalogue. But again to my surprise, he came upto me as soon as he was finished with the first guy. Now, I was under pressure, and had only like 2 sec to come up with an interesting question to ask him. I found one and the moment he enquired, with his broken English, ‘Can I help you with something?’, I asked him, ‘Does this model comes with Left Hand Drive?’. To this he apologetically said, ‘Sorry, but I don’t know.’ I was relieved and said ‘Thats OK, no problem’, while finding my way to leave the stall. But, it wasn’t over, not yet. The Sales Guy told me to wait for a min, while he makes a call. After few sentences in Korean, he directed me to the Car model. He opens the door of the car, and asked me sit in the front seat. As soon as I sat down, he handed me his mobile phone to talk to somebody. There was a lady on the other end of the phone, she started with name first and her position………which was …..VP of Sales….I was like ….WTF…… Apparently, since, the Sales Guy didn’t had an answer to my query, he rang up the Boss, so that she could answer it for me. I was so surprised and awestruck that I gave a wrong number when she asked for it, so that she could get back to me, as soon as there is right hand drive model.

There were many more instances, but these two really impressed me a lot.

This is true of most Asian countries but the subway system is incredibly precise and efficient in Korea. You get full 3G connection in the subway, the trains run every 5-10 minutes, and there's air conditioning for those hot and humid days. Always a great experience and the same thing goes for buses.
In Korea specifically, there's a huge night life in certain parts of Seoul that most people don't expect and there's just a ton of really good food both on food carts outside and in nicer restaurants. One thing that I really like about Korea is you don't decide what you're going to eat before you go out; you usually just explore/walk around before deciding on something that looks good. This does happen in the bay area but choices are limited and there aren't that many restaurants on a given downtown area. For fast food even you'd need to drive to pick it up whereas in Korea you'd just walk down and pick something that you feel like eating.
I guess the word here is convenience.

After living in South Korea for over a year, I have noticed a few things that are worth sharing.
Seoul is the true city that never sleeps, not New York. While many bars and clubs in New York close around 2 or 3 am, in Korea, they tend to stay open until the last customer leaves, with some even open 24/7. Partying with Korean friends often means staying out until 4 or 5 am.
Hierarchy is a crucial aspect of Korean culture, with both positive and negative aspects. When meeting someone new in Korea, it is common to ask their age. Age is significant in Korea, and older people are often referred to as "older brother" or "older sister." At a formal dinner, the younger person is supposed to turn away from the older person when they drink alcohol.

Hiking is a popular pastime in Korea, with many older people hitting the trails. Despite not having the highest mountains, the country is 70% mountains, and hiking is accessible in most cities. The kindness of strangers is also a notable aspect of hiking, with many Koreans sharing food and drink with fellow hikers.
Korean fried chicken is superior to American fried chicken. Double-fried and served with cold beer, 치맥 (chicken and beer) is one of the most popular meals in Korea, alongside Korean BBQ.
Finally, Koreans love singing and karaoke. Noraebang, or singing rooms, are private rooms where people can sing and party with their friends. Food and drink are usually required to rent the room, and both Korean and American songs are available to sing.
Overall, my time in South Korea has been an eye-opening and enriching experience, and I look forward to learning more about this unique and fascinating culture.

Noraebang(卡拉OK房)是一个私人空间,人们可以在里面唱歌和聚会。

Before I came to Korea, I read many things about the country, but one particular feature was not well documented at the time. Korean lifestyle can be characterized by one word: PPALLI-PPALLI (빨리빨리) - which basically means "quickly, quickly".
The paradigm of getting things done quickly covers many experiences in Korea: from building construction within a few months, to pizza delivery within minutes, to 4G mobile internet which works faster than your average LAN broadband.
Not sure if you can experience this life speed as a tourist, but living in Korea will demonstrate you this national trait.

I think people don’t understand this question. Or maybe it is me. If I were to tell my friends about Korea, what would they not believe?
1. The subway system. Some guys will tell it how great it is. They will quote numbers to suggest it is in the top of certain categories. Korea’s subway system boasts one of the busiest in the world. That means overcrowding (for the smart people.) I have literally had to place my hands on a man’s head to prevent myself from eating hair. It was a struggle to get my hand up in time. During rush hour, they literally pack as many people in as possible. The sheer number of people that pack into the cars on a daily basis is unbelievable and it is hardly surprising to hear that the owner Korail was building the tallest building in Korea (at that time). I did it several times a week for years and the weight off my shoulders, when it ended, was palpable.

Here’s one I didn’t believe until proven otherwise. During the broadcasting of the summer Olympics a few years back, someone announced that Koreans eat dog. I defended Korea, announcing every chance I got that when Korea was poor many ate whatever they could. I have since then learned I was wrong. The dog meat market is thriving in Korea and I have not seen signs of it diminishing. ‘nuff said.
PC Rooms. Korea’s alleys are dotted with gaming establishments aka cybercafes. It is unreal. They are everywhere and the government has made laws curtailing their use with curfews. There are cable stations dedicated to gaming and yes, gaming is a career in Korea.

There are other things. Korea is not yet fully developed but parts of it have surpassed what we define as developed. The ten years I stayed in Korea saw me with no keys. I think the only key I saw was the one to the top drawer in my bedroom. Automated is everything. Transactions online are instant. You can send anyone money instantly from your bank to theirs. You can make immediate deposits, withdrawals, whatever. And they have no checking system. No paper checks at all! Even many of the lights are raytraced and come on automatically. The front doors are all digital and electronic. The internet? the best.

Korea still has arranged marriages. I was an elementary teacher in a prestigious private elementary school. One day several of the third graders rushed into my classroom and told me that one of the students was at JejuDo getting married. It was an arranged marriage between two families that can only be construed as a solidification of their holdings. Most Koreans even do not believe this story. But it happened. On the flip side, India, widely regarded as a supporter of arranged marriages, has one of the lowest divorce rates.

One fact that foreigners may not believe until they visit South Korea is the level of technological advancement in the country. South Korea is known for its cutting-edge technology and innovation, and visitors are often surprised by the widespread use of technology in everyday life, from high-speed internet to contactless payment systems.
Another fact that may surprise foreigners is the country's food culture. South Korea has a rich culinary tradition, and visitors may be surprised by the variety and complexity of Korean cuisine. Many people are also surprised by the popularity of Korean street food, which is often sold from small stalls and carts on the street.
Foreigners may also be surprised by the country's natural beauty, which includes stunning mountains, beaches, and national parks. Despite being a densely populated country, South Korea has many opportunities for outdoor recreation and exploration.
Finally, some foreigners may be surprised by the level of politeness and respect that is shown in Korean society. There is a strong emphasis on etiquette and social harmony in South Korea, and visitors may notice many customs and traditions that reflect this emphasis. For example, it is common to bow when greeting someone, and shoes are often removed before entering a home or certain public spaces.

i am living here now.
totally not tourist friendly. i say that because
the English is very very bad. i dont know why they lie about that on the internet
some people will be ashamed of their bad english and avoid talking to you even if your asking for help
busdrivers also cant help you so be prepared to get lost. and without a Tmoney card you are not allowed on the subway etc so good luck getting around
lots of korean food and items but no international ones with korean instructions how to use. not even colgate is easily found
Korean electronics like samsung en LG items are much more expensive here then at home
everything is as expensive. when i heard Asian country i thought more chinalike prices but its more Japan

people are offended by other cultural expressions, customs
winter is very very dry. prepare to be electrocuted on chairs, door handles etc. get bloody noses, chapped lips
buying a phone number is a unexplicably hard and complicated process. how are you supposed to call for help.
kimchi with every-thing and its always cold and hard
korean everywhere. the writing, the international english version of websites, official agencies. if you dont have help from a korean friend, you are very screwed.
mountains and hills. very beautiful to look at, a bitch to be walking on every day
Korean tv channels. they have a 1000 i think but good luck getting an interesting engish program.

lots of pork, some chicken but very litlle and crazy expensive beef
no cleaners for mopping. they mop with plain water.
and no, im not some spoiled rich brat. im from a small agricultural but multicultural village in a 3rd world country. i’ve eaten things that the locals don’t even dare try and with just an app and my smile ive taught myself some korean words and ive made acquintainces. but if you’re claiming to be international, at least your signs should be in letters not in Korean characters
i like that

food is relatively cheap and the meals are large
filtered hot en cold water is everywhere and free
also nice toilets and they're also free
everywhere is clean and
its very very safe. even a drunk girl at midnight in a empty narrow street feels safe
lots of good busses, subway

all the stores etc are very warm and they don’t mind if you just come in to use the wifi and thaw
lots of sales of very good quality stuff
people smell and look nice
the banks have no bars or glass because there are no robberies
its very very safe. i can leave my bag open. i saw a store closed for lunch but left their merchandise out
bread. they have it. regular bread.
